Redskins Trade Two No. 1 Picks to the Rams, Will Select Robert Griffin in the 2012 NFL Draft
The Redskins will get Robert Griffin the III.
In a blockbuster trade, the Redskins gave the Rams two future No. 1 draft picks and additional picks to move up to the No. 2 spot in the 2012 draft, where they will select Baylor Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin the III, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.
We’ve got to let this one sink in and see what else Washington gave up before fully assessing the deal. Griffin wowed everyone at the Combine with his speed, but is everyone really sold on a small-ish QB from the Big 12, where nobody plays defense?
Cleveland fans, how are you feeling right now?

Injunes will select Robert Emanuel Rodriguez Dominique Manning Griffin the eight with the second pick of the USFL Draft.

Amazing, a deal so good for the Rams they didn’t even have to wait until draft day. Bigtime win for them, because they probably still get Blackmon at #6.
March 9th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
I demand respect for Biggie. ALL them hoes I got to like one.
March 9th, 2012 at 10:41 PM
Shelter says 3 first rounders and a 2nd rounder. it’s a little ridiculous.
March 9th, 2012 at 10:41 PM
Shefter, that is. My auto correct craves cock.
March 9th, 2012 at 10:42 PM
A ridiculously good deal for Rams. They can maybe get Blackmon and even flip future pick for another stud.
March 9th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
Three first rounders, lol. Christ this has “Cowboys setup for 3 Super Bowls in 4 years after dumping Hershel” potential.
March 9th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
Though Gregg Williams is probably gone, the Rams still got a nice little bounty
March 9th, 2012 at 10:54 PM
Supposedly, accroding to ESPN, that the Browns were upping their proposal to 3 1st rounders and possibly a 2nd until told Redskins were getting the pick
March 9th, 2012 at 10:55 PM
Rams still have Bustford and will fuck up all their draft picks.
but at least they didn’t sign Sanchize to a 5 year extension. so they have that going for them, which is nice.
March 9th, 2012 at 10:59 PM
Oh Dan Snyder and Mike Leatherface
March 9th, 2012 at 10:59 PM
Fuck you Scramble, Sanchez is fucking a 2 time AFC championship runner-up.
/dick

ESPN is saying that the Skins actually gave up their ’13 and ’14 first rounder to get this done too. No “first rounder in 2018″ shenanigans. Amazing.
Can you imagine what this might look like for the Rams now?
- They might still have a chance at Blackmon with the #6 depending on how badly Cleveland is panicking now, who could throw way too much money at Matt Flynn and hope that Blackmon makes him good. Even if the Rams don’t get Blackmon though they probably shore up their line with a top o-lineman
- They’ve not got the #33 and #39 overall in this draft to shore up more needs. Hell they could rebuild over half their line with first and second round talent.
- Not inconceivable they would have two Top 10 picks in ’13. At a minimum, four #1′s in the next two years.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:13 PM
Same height as Aaron Rodgers and taller than Drew Brees
Hope Lisk still posts on this, would fit in nicely with his research on the draft value scale
March 9th, 2012 at 11:14 PM
As a Browns fan, I am disappointed they didn’t get him but very happy they didn’t sell the farm. This team needs too much to be giving up 4 high picks for one unproven player. I’d give that for Rodgers… Maybe
March 9th, 2012 at 11:24 PM
Yeah, this likely decimates Lisk’s trade value concepts.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:27 PM
In a Quarterback driven league within a division with 3 Pro Bowl caliber QB’s, the Redskins gave themselves an opportunity to draft a franchise QB to utilize their underrated receiving corp along with their young defense.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:27 PM
Jason Whitlock on twitter just said that commissioner will veto trade.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:29 PM
Nevermind. I just read it again. Too much to drink. Said David Stern will veto trade.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:29 PM
yeah, David Stern..Whitlock was being his usual “witty” self
March 9th, 2012 at 11:32 PM
Snyder is all in… OL be damned
March 9th, 2012 at 11:34 PM
Fred Davis and Trent Williams are so excited. Now they’ll smoke some more dope and get suspended again next year. That would be hilarious
March 9th, 2012 at 11:35 PM
I hope he works out for WAS. The NFL is better off when the NFC East is loaded
March 9th, 2012 at 11:38 PM
I hope he gets some help on offense this year. Washington does not have the weapons needed to compete in that division
March 9th, 2012 at 11:43 PM
Cleveland should really trade down now. But no one is trading up for Tannehill.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:46 PM
Tannehill has no business starting year one. He’ll look likeGabbert out there. Completely fucking lost.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:50 PM
From all the readings on twitter and websites, it sounds like Skins took advantage of Manning going on the market. Some teams (Miami) didn’t want to go nuts till they find out what Manning decides.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:54 PM
The best part of this trade is how bi-polar the Redskins look by pulling the trigger. “We’re going to pull a Win Now Mortgage the Future trade…and draft an untested QB who may be the next Ryan Leaf for all we know”. This is the kind of trade you make if you have a chance to get Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers. Or hell even AP or Arian Foster might have been defensible. Not a rookie QB who has never seen an NFL defense in his life.

So Philips Arena should seriously consider selling beer during the ACC tourney. There was almost a riot outside the Taco Mac (there’s an entrance inside the arena) in between the two games tonight. People were acting like fuckheads, and I’m proud to say my wife and I were two of the people holding shit down at the front of the line to all the dipshits trying to cut in front of a hundred people.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:55 PM
great detail, Chicago.
hope you made it out alive.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:56 PM
That said, Taco Mac needed to get their shit together and start letting more people in, or at least bring some more security over. It was legitimately getting out of control.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:59 PM
Ha I don’t know if you’re just giving me shit here, but it was sincerely pretty crazy.
I couldn’t believe the way people were acting just to get inside there and get a beer. I mean, it was only a lot of pushing/shoving/talking shit, but it was definitely one group (people that had been waiting in line) versus another (guys that would just blatantly try to cut). I know it sounds silly like just being a “no cutting” thing, but I was honestly keeping my eyes peeled on every asshole- one sucker punch would have blown the roof off that section of Philips.
March 9th, 2012 at 11:59 PM
This makes no sense. Anyone you select in the draft is a rookie of some position who has never seen an NFL offense or defense.
March 10th, 2012 at 12:43 AM
i’d be a bit upset if i were RG3… dude is going to be a lone ranger in that offense for years until the skins actually get some draft picks.
March 10th, 2012 at 1:00 AM
Goddamit lisk, do some more research. The PAC 12 didn’t play any d either, and you aren’t killing luck. I don’t know if rg3 was worth this, but fucking a. Rgiii has been good for a while.
March 10th, 2012 at 1:00 AM

Ricky Rubio possibly out for year with a torn ACL. Not good for the Wolves.
March 10th, 2012 at 1:04 AM
Poor Lisk gets the blame when he didn’t even do anything. Twice.
March 10th, 2012 at 1:09 AM
Chief, maybe you havent been heren in awhile. But, tbl has killed rg every chance they have got on bign12s d when Stanford hasnt played shit either but tbl ignores that
March 10th, 2012 at 1:11 AM
I have been here awhile, but I guess not long enough to realize Lisk and TBL were one in the same.
March 10th, 2012 at 4:12 AM
lolz @ Browns trading down. Blackmon is ours.
March 10th, 2012 at 4:24 AM
I don’t know about the Rams on this. Bradford has been no great shakes. If RG3 starts strong in Washington, I’m sure Rams fans are going to wonder what in the hell they ended up trading away.
March 10th, 2012 at 5:11 AM
hey babe, I’d like to talk to you
How’s about coming back to my room
for a little boom boom
You keep coming to me (you keep coming to me)
I can feel your dynamite (I can feel your dynamite)
I know when you move
get in the groove
you’re driving me crazy
crazy for you
Cuz everytime you come to me
it’s time for us to boom boom
You keep coming close to me
and feel the burning fire
all the time you come to me
it’s time for us to boom boom
can’t you see the spark in me
and feel my strong desire
Chorus:
boom boom boom
let’s go back to my room
so we can do it all night
and you can make me feel right (repeat)
To be or not to be (to be or not to be)
Don’t you know I like the fight (don’t you know I like the fight)
getting to you (getting to you)
you’re driving me crazy
crazy for you
Cuz everytime you come to me
it’s time for us to boom boom
You keep coming close to me
and feel the burning fire
all the time you come to me
it’s time for us to boom boom
can’t you see the spark in me
and feel my strong desire
(Repeat Chorus)

That’s a lot to give up. Lotta pressure on RG3; But if they are rolling on 2018 I guess ??? this is worth it.
I’d be okay with the Browns trading down 5-10 spots (and not taking Blackmon) if they could add a 2nd. RT, DE, WR CB are four needs, moving down slightly could fill those 4 spots. Tannehill – NO THANKS. Let’s just scuffle with Colt and look at the 2013 market. This team wsan’t making the playoffs this year anyway and probably needs to hit the drafts through 2014 anyway.
March 10th, 2012 at 8:16 AM
NCAA rules forbid selling of alcohol at the tourney games. Found that out last year when I went to Charlotte to see Duke and UNC play their second-round games.
March 10th, 2012 at 8:23 AM
Gotta give the Rams credit. They exploited Mike Shannahan’s friendship w/ Jeff Fisher and pumped Dan Snyder for a ton of picks. That is a haul. It’s not improbable those are all 1st rounder picks in the top 15. That is such a huge price. You almost wonder if Indy botched up, they could have kept Manning and gotten maybe even more from somebody if that’s what the market was…
March 10th, 2012 at 8:37 AM
I thought that the Falcons trade for Julio Jones was the worst draft trade ever. As of today, it is now the second worst draft trade ever.

JETS EXTEND SANCHIZE.
he New York Jets ended months of Peyton Manning speculation Friday night with an emphatic statement, announcing a three-year contract extension for incumbent Mark Sanchez.
The Jets made Sanchez one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL after a season in which they openly admitted they weren’t pleased with his rate of development. The timing also is curious, coming only hours after they were eliminated from the Manning sweepstakes.
Walker: Jets all in with Sanchez
Rather than continue chasing Peyton Manning, the Jets decided to go all in with Mark Sanchez, writes James Walker. Blog
The deal includes $20.5 million in guarantees for 2012 and 2013 and $40.5 million in “new” money, bringing his total over five years to $58.25 million, according to sources. He can make an additional $10 million in escalators.
The $58.25 million gives Sanchez the seventh-highest financial package among NFL quarterbacks, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

The ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament operate under completely different rules. If the ACC wanted to allow alcohol sales at the tournament, they could. They choose not to.
March 10th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
This. I can’t figure it out. Pac-10 defenses aren’t really any better than Big 12 defenses.
March 10th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
Jay v- your thoughts on the deal, from a Redskins POV?
March 10th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
The Redskins gave up a second this year, and a first round pick for the next two years to pick up a franchise level QB this year. Thats not a ton of picks, and its a bold move. Plus they’re 50 mill under the cap, so there are plenty of moves to make to bring in players.
March 10th, 2012 at 11:39 AM
Ahhh. Did not know that. Assumed they were under the same umbrella.
