Michael Jordan’s Chicago Mansion On Sale for $29 Million
Michael Jordan’s mansion in Highland Park, Illinois, where he raised his family before his divorce from Juanita, is now on the market for the price of $29 million. I went to the real estate company listed in that story and ran a search for all homes listed for at least $5 million in the past two weeks, and amazingly was able to immediately find the listing.
Among the highlights: over 32,000 square feet, 15 full baths, but only a one car garage. How does a house worth 29 million have a one car garage? Anyway, it also has a full-size basketball court, obviously, among its many other features. I would think the giant “23″ on the gate would greatly restrict the pool of available buyers. Does Ryne Sandberg have $29 million lying around?

Are the countertops higher? I’m tired of countertops I can set my junk on.

I’ve been there*!

Here’s a picture of the front of the home. Ugly, IMO.

When I did a gut/remodel on my kitchen, I went 2.5″ higher on the counter tops. Serious back saver when it comes to cooking.

This! Recently learned that “builder-grade” bathroom vanities are generally shorter than others. Those cheap fucking bastards! Wife has been begging for a new bathroom for years. I may be finally giving in.

that poser Lebron is really kicking himself now.

I would think the opposite.

Yup. I’ve been a few builder grade McMansions down here. While they’re big, and have all the bells and whistles, you can tell it was built in about a month. Creaky floors, low counters, terrible insulation, and, as I learned the hard way… no exhaust fans in bathrooms with windows.
/may or may not have taken a massive and stinky dump in one of those
//was mortified to find out there was no exhaust fan

What is 5.
Nights MJ has actually spent there is the last 5 years?

Then you’ll love knowing that tall toilets exist. Test drive at your local Lowe’s to make sure they’re comfy for ya.

Didn’t pay attention on my tour, only noticed after. The door to my master bathroom is the size of a linen closet door. I can’t go through it straight, shoulders hit.
February 29th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
I definitely don’t live in a mcmansion, but have the short vanities. My house did have really poor windows till we took care of that last spring.
February 29th, 2012 at 11:56 AM
I can shave my balls in the sink without having to stand on my toes, I don’t see how this is a bad thing.
February 29th, 2012 at 11:57 AM
I desperately need to do this with my house, but the back yard is the first thing I need to fix.

The Penn State crowd for the OSU\PSU game in 2005 was the best crowd I’ve ever seen in person. Night game and completely crazy. I sat in the OSU player section (had a contact on the team that got me tickets) and happened to be the last person in the section before it went to PSU fans. The two dudes I sat next to gave me Jim Beam all game, they were cool guys. OSU lost but it was fun as hell.

I only went to two PSU games while I was there, one was the night Michigan game in 2008 when they finally won, that was awesome.
Except the “S Zone” was pink. Horrid.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Nice pic of the listing agent on the bairdwarner link. I bet she gives MJ great helmet.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:03 PM
That game was awesome. SI ran an aerial pic of (not this one) and I could pic out my brother and I due to the two ND fans in navy sitting behind us.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:03 PM
That’s awesome.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:04 PM
text got dropped… I was referring to the ND/PSU white out game when PSU turned Clausen into mashed potatoes.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:05 PM
Ah yes. The year when PSU fans tried to act like they were rivals with ND.

High school basketball, college basketball, an NBA WAG, the NBA roundup, and now a retired player. There must be a post about a dead Hall of Famer coming up next.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:08 PM
Only Penn State game I’ve been to was when they came to the Orange Bowl my freshman year. That was when Kenny Kelly (shudders) was our starting QB, Dorsey didn’t start until the end of the year. We were down, came all the way back to take the lead and then in the last minute PSU completed a long TD bomb to Choffie (Choffy? Choppy?) Fields and they won. Walking back to the metro rail outside the stadium I got hit by a PSU minivan. Good times.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:08 PM
Dude, landscaping is way more fun than windows, but I would definitely make windows a priority. Will save you on utilities, may improve value of home and the overall comfort level will improve.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:12 PM
Mole, you are fucked up, yet I enjoyed the UCLA thread.

I fear I have found my doppelganger(s). I am 6’3, my wife is 6’0, and I would love tall countertops.

Chafie Fields: Legend. He’s now an agent who reps former Nittany Lions. Of note: Maybin, Levi Brown

I am really hungover and have to have lunch with my boss in forty minutes at a seafood restaurant. Cannot imagine how this could break bad. Should not have been doing drugs on the street at three in the morning last night.

I drove down for that game. It took us 26 hours due to a portion of 95 being flooded by a hurricane. It was awesome. We had a Miami fan (or more likely a neighborhood local) threaten to stab us as we walked to our car.

9 BR, 15 Bath
I like to think that half the bedrooms have their own “Dump Bathroom” in addition to the normal full sized bathroom.
At least, that’s what I’d have if I were obscenely wealthy.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:23 PM
I would have secret passageways throughout the house and a central liquor system like in Vegas that had a tap in each room.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:24 PM
Yeah I clicked the first link expecting it to be some smokeshow, someone in here has some odd taste.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:25 PM
False.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:26 PM
We’ve been re-doing stuff in our house and we re-did entire bathrooms except vanities. As soon as I have some money, I’m going with the higher vanity. And a second shower head in the showers.
Also… three baths (including a newer one in the basement) and none has an exhaust fan. Ridiculous. I’ve added one in, and the second is going to have to go through a wall, since there is no attic access. PITA
February 29th, 2012 at 12:27 PM

February 29th, 2012 at 12:27 PM
They definitely change your, uh, posture. My 5’10″ girlfriend loves them. My Mom, 5’7″, hates them.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:28 PM
It’s an interesting mix of people here, at some pretty widely varying stages in their lives.
Also… can someone confirm that I’m not going crazy and that it really is idiotic/illogical for the first graph to have the situations and not the players add up to 100%? http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7624588/nba-rookie-midterm-report-including-kyrie-irving-ricky-rubio-more I’ve never heard of this Pruiti guy, has anyone read him? February 29th, 2012 at 12:32 PM

I read something about it a few years ago. It was talking about how the Chinese don’t use toilets, they just have a hole in the ground, and the lower squat position unlinks the colon.

this makes perfect sense. our work bathroom has 4 stalls and the floor slopes to a drain all the way on the other side of the stalls. I always have my best poo in the can farthest from the drain.

Shit man, I’ve got the light at the end of the tunnel right now. 6 months work, 6 months vacation, then I go back for two years, all paid for.
The bigger issue is that I think the wife would like to have kids and not continue to work to supplement my meager income.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:40 PM
Sounds reasonable, but that website is a joke, and just trying to sell a product.

It’s Chicago… public transportation.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:44 PM
I gotta imagine there’s more than a one car garage on this, especially since Jordan loves his exotics.

February 29th, 2012 at 12:46 PM

February 29th, 2012 at 12:48 PM
Nah… clinical years, then residency.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:49 PM
How many vacuum cleaners you think a house that size needs?
February 29th, 2012 at 12:50 PM
What are you working towards, WWoS? My gfriend has another 17 months on her CT fellowship. She’s dying as she looks at her offers and realizes how far out she still is.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:52 PM
I would love to talk to somebody about the access a house like this grants but you people wouldn’t understand about that
February 29th, 2012 at 12:52 PM
My grad work is in genetics, but I’ll end up in peds cardio, I hope. Still a ways to go, but if this committee meeting I have on Monday goes well (I’ve been pulling 80-hr weeks in lab for it, so it better), I’ll at least have a timeframe of when I can get to finish.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:53 PM
WWoS – you’re aware of the joy associated with the residency match process, right? I’d hold off a couple of years before installing those dual showerheads.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:53 PM
Isn’t he like 6’5″? They’d have to be short trees…
February 29th, 2012 at 12:54 PM
I can’t even think that far ahead, right now. Too depressing.
February 29th, 2012 at 12:57 PM
really good friend of ours here that was a resident with my wife just took a part time job as an anethesiologist…20-30 hours a week. $250k.
part. fucking. time. and I looked at my wife and asked if she was sure she still wanted to start her fellowship this summer. I mean, there’s still time to back out!
February 29th, 2012 at 12:58 PM
Important question, WWoS. If you aren’t in lab do you still play words with friends?
February 29th, 2012 at 1:01 PM
I keep telling mine that if she dropped out of the fellowship, there’s no shame in doing implants in Boca for the rest of her life.
February 29th, 2012 at 1:08 PM
does she moonlight any? mrs. mizerle06 is mcintyred of all the trollin’ does every now and then and makes four times what I do working overtime.
February 29th, 2012 at 1:15 PM
Her cardiology roommie makes a killing with it, but the structure of her surgical fellowship really doesn’t allow for it, especially when you factor in her every other day on call and 2 partial weekends off a month. Last night was a call night and she got brought in for a heart transplant, which effectively trashes her day today. She’ll be a zombie.
February 29th, 2012 at 1:19 PM
I could talk home remodeling all day. What other projects have people done?
February 29th, 2012 at 1:23 PM
Sure… I’ll just do it on round when the attendings are droning on about cardiosomethingyawn.
February 29th, 2012 at 1:27 PM
my biggest so far was chair rail and wanescoting.
February 29th, 2012 at 2:07 PM
Tacky house. All the $$ in the world can’t buy class.
February 29th, 2012 at 2:13 PM
Nice. I did chair rail in the basement a couple years ago. I’d like to do wanescoting up somewhere. Tired to convince the wife to do that in the nursery but got shot down.
February 29th, 2012 at 2:18 PM
I’m in the process of finishing my basement. Putting in a home gym and a playroom for the rug rat.
February 29th, 2012 at 2:31 PM
We just put in new carpet and baseboards in the basement to spruce it up. Definitely going to be using that space more in the future.
