Daytona 500 Postponed Until 7:00PM ET Due to Rain
The Daytona 500, originally scheduled for Noon, has been postponed until 7:00PM ET tonight due to more rain. Coverage will still be on FOX beginning at that time. Weather.com’s forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms through 5pm with the weather clearing afterward. Though an unexpected shower could cause further delays. Organizers are “hopeful” the weather will clear long enough to dry the track and have the race tonight. This was the race’s first postponement in its 54-year history.

Last week, weather reports were indicating a potential snow storm in the Milwaukee area. I’m paraphrasing, but this was the gist of the actual weather report from the NWS:
“The storm could bring 3-8 inches of snow, with the heaviest snow totals falling north or south of Milwaukee.”
Quite precise forecasting there. And they ended up missing the timing of the snow storm by 8 hours or so.

Man you guys are really putting the meteorology industry on blast in here, I don’t know if they’ll be able to recover from it.

As long as there are stations willing to put on 20-30 something women in tight fitting business suits and knee high leather boots, I imagine weather reporting will do just fine.
Still though, fuck weather.com.
