Yes. If he could have come out for the ’96 draft he probably would have gone #1. Definitely would have gone #1 in ’97. Did so in’98. Aikman was a similarly valued QB prospect and come out in the most front-loaded draft of all time. Ryan Leaf is in the class below and Matt Leinart is in with the guys who couldn’t hold serve on the hype. The only other one I can really think of for that is David Klingler.

I don’t really remember the hype with Peyton Manning, but was he an obvious #1 overall had he not come back to watch Charles Woodson win a Heisman?

Cam Newton was better than people thought. Plenty of people were hating on Cam Newton last year and doubting he could play in this league. While we don’t know about Luck’s future, his prospects seem as good as any prospect to at least be a good starter for a long time.

Well, Andrew Luck went out this morning and put up a 4.59 40 yard dash time, put up a 36″ vertical, and a 10’4″ broad jump.

If there was any doubt (and I don’t think there was) Andrew Luck just showed why he is a oncetwice in a decade type prospect.
