With so many fun clips from zoos around the world zipping around the web, I’m eager to make my first trip to a zoo since 2003. [via Adam]

Love these zany youtube posts.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:38 PM
Why can’t I see cool shit like that when I go to the zoo?? That was sick.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Last 2 zoos I’ve been to were the San Diego Zoo and Columbus zoo. 2 best zoos in America. I was blown away. The zoo is pretty sweet.

Love when they’re all sitting together at the beginning. What a presence.

Cartmaniak? That disturbs me to know that Cartmaniac was taken.

I think lions need a Lion Week on Discovery Channel.

This is why I cant watch animal shows. I absolutely cannot watch anything die, no matter what kind of animal. I get super sad.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:43 PM
Had I known zoo videos were all the rage, I would have recorded that adolescent Babboon whacking it in front of my kids a few years ago.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:43 PM
went to the zoo last weekend. didn’t see stuff like that but close. you can go to a zoo 365 days straight and see something different every time. we caught the wolves howling, and cheered a polar bear into the water to get a snack. was like a buzzer beater when he finally jumped after teetering on the edge for a couple minutes

Tigers > lions. Tigers are such a cooler killing machine.
Tiger 1, Monkey 0

I was at the Zoo on monday. first time in a long time. probably since HS.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:44 PM
If I’m not mistaken, the very first youtube video ever posted was one of the site’s founders at a zoo.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:45 PM
that was pretty awesome.
was in the memphis zoo a few years ago. the leopards were in a low fenced habitat immediately across the walkway from the meerkats.
if there’s ever a real life version of the “far side’s” Trouble Brewing comics, this was it.
the leopards were pacing back and forth staring at the meerkats, didn’t stand in between for too long.

Was watching Worst Cooks in America last night. In between the clearly set up narrative sound bites, I enjoyed the black guy saying how he never tried tofu, that he was into red meat because he liked “to eat things that had parents.”
It got a pretty healthy got laugh out of me.

I was more of a fan of the aquarium section when I went to the zoo, which was more than 10 years ago.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:48 PM
I liked the reptile house the most.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:48 PM
Great find, Adam. You just made Gannett $500.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:49 PM
DC zoo is the best zoo in America. But it doesn’t hold a candle to the wildlife zoo in kuala lampur, which you think you’re gonna die every 20 seconds while massive carnivors are on all sides of you.

Zoo’s always make me sad. I know the animals are treated well, but it just doesn’t seem right. Haven’t been to one in probably over 10 years.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:50 PM
the zoo by the scorpions is a great song. I think that was Bam Bam Bigelow’s walkout music when he was in ECW.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:50 PM
I thought the San Diego zoo was widely regarded as the best in the country.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:50 PM
all depends on the narrator for me.
morgan freeman and dead baby penguins aren’t good, but if it was tommy lee jones and dead baby penguins i’d be ok.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:51 PM
Now that sounds exciting, I’d be down for that. I’ve always wanted to go on a safari or do something like that, see these things in a more natural habitat.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:51 PM
Zoo needs at least one day a month that kids are not allowed in. I’ll pay a premium to go and not face those little bastards as I try to enjoy my day!
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:52 PM
that was FUCKING AWESOME!
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:52 PM
smart man. +1 for you, good sir.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:53 PM
If only it was a canadian goose.
Damn oversized rats with wings. Those fucking things can go extinct for all I care.
/looks at the pond
They ain’t going extinct anytime soon.
/slips on goose shit.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:53 PM
If it was a tiger, lion, or something like a jaguar, I won’t get sad since he would tear me to shreds if they wanted to. Only dead puppies would make me cry.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:54 PM
I like aquariums better. The massive tank in the middle of the New England Aquarium that you follow up a spiral staircase is mad baller.
Vancouver’s is pretty cool too.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:54 PM
the miniature train at the Milwaukee County Zoo was always my favorite as a kid.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:54 PM
completely agree. Not watching the video.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:55 PM
my dog just discovered the joys of chasing the geese in my neighborhood. unfortunately it was while i had only a loose grip on her leash and was trying to drop her waste bag into one of those garbage cans with the flap on the front. not good.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:55 PM
And yet that blue heron still lived a more dignified existence than Chris Herren
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:55 PM
That video of the elephant knocking that dude out with his trunk is in the top greatest things on the internet. I maybe watched it 30 times.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:57 PM
This guy is taking the sports out of this blog one submission at a time.

Atlanta’s aquarium is pretty amazing. I think it’s the largest in the world. Has an underwater tunnel with sharks swimming overhead, and about a 3 or 4 story sheet of seamless glass in another viewing room. Pretty nuts. Recommend it to anyone passing through town.

Whenever my husband has a nature show on, its usually always a big cat killing a deer or something of his ilk. The worst is when you can hear them crying.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:57 PM
Oh don’t even get me started with those fuckers.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:58 PM
the miniature train at the Milwaukee County Zoo was always my favorite as a kid.
ha… me too. wonder if that thing is still there.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:58 PM
Flawless approach. A true pro.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:59 PM
Did any of you ever go to the Wild Life Word Zoo in Phoenix when it was still up and running. Craziest damn place. Jaguars in chain link fence cages. You could reach in and pet their belly. No glass on the reptile cages. Giraffes in wrong enclosures. They would walk up to you and lick your face. I have to believe it has now been closed due to numerous safety violations.
February 23rd, 2012 at 12:59 PM
/makes note to visit Atlanta again

I can burn a lot of down time on the internet watching wild animals fight. Croc vs. Lion, Tiger vs. Python, etc. Battle at Krugar is a required watch.
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:00 PM
STOP IT!!!
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:02 PM
Birds are gay anyways. I’m glad that Lion massacred it.
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:03 PM
The saddest documentary ever was the one about elephants. They showed the elephants having a funeral of sorts over a baby that died. I couldn’t even get through 2 minutes.
I couldn’t watch Meercat Manor because they kept showing the ones that got hurt and separated from the pack who ended up dying alone in the middle of nowhere. So sad.
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:03 PM
Nope!
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:05 PM
Speaking of excellence, did you hear we met a tiger? Then he got murdered.
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:06 PM
my cat just watched that and is now trying to steal my daughter’s sandwich
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:07 PM
Don’t kid yourself, if a cow ever got the chance, he’d eat you and everyone you care about
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:08 PM
Only dead puppies would make me cry.
pump brakes homey. sg is not available i don;t think
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:09 PM
Camden, NJ may be the shittiest of the shitholes in the country, but their aquarium is fantastic.
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:09 PM
if a cow ever got the chance, he’d eat you and everyone you care about
that would be harsh with those unsharp teeth
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:11 PM
Milwaukee County Zoo
in the 90s you could ride a camel there
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:11 PM
My dogs almost killed an opossum yesterday. They had it cornered and were about to go for the kill before I dragged them away.
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:20 PM
Don’t those lions know this is a fucking zoo? Do they not know the rules?
That has to be some kind of violation or foul!

The worst is when you can hear them crying.
Have you ever heard a rabbit scream?!? Good gawd that’s terrifying.
We have fields with lots of rabbits (gotta be thousands – they’re everywhere) and obviously coyotes have discovered them. When those coyotes get a hold of one of those bunnies… my god it sounds like little child screaming. It’s creepy.
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:56 PM
Last time I was at the zoo, I saw someone get pissed on by a rhino. That was cool.
February 23rd, 2012 at 1:59 PM
The one in New Orleans used to be tres cool. ALso, at a fundraiser one night, the platform over the shark tank collapsed and about 25 bigwig donors got dunked in among the sharks, which fortunately for thoswe folks had just been fed.
February 23rd, 2012 at 2:07 PM
Shot one in the head with a bb gun when I was 12. popped up in the air, dead when it hit the ground. was showing off to my big sister on another rabbit, except I maimed it. it screamed around the yard for about 2 hrs, awful sound. Dad came home from work, took a bat to it, and walked by me and said “Now you know why you go around shooting things”. Haven’t killed another living animal since.

coulda been me last weekend but i saw the sign warning folks to stay back because of just that issue. black rhino
February 23rd, 2012 at 2:24 PM
about 25 bigwig donors got dunked in among the sharks,
ooh, tell us about the panic. there had to be panic
February 23rd, 2012 at 2:34 PM
Shot one in the head with a bb gun when I was 12 …
That’s automatically a HOF TBL story. Fantastic.
February 23rd, 2012 at 2:53 PM
I’ll wager that tank was filled half water and half piss within seconds of the platform collapsing. According to the stories, there was lots of screaming.
