Ostensibly those are a constraint play to make teams think twice about playing 7+ yards off coverage with a safety rolled over the top. It was a base check in Arian’s offense. Count numbers on each side of tackle, if you got numbers then WR screen. As much as those screens suck, it’s more frustrating to watch WRs try to get open against coverages with enough buffer to account for Wallace’s speed.

I really liked that offense although it’s too bad Arian’s acumen and coaching skill never really translated to red zone play design or calling. I certainly ain’t holding my breath on todd haley.

Mike Wallace is much better than Anthony Armstrong.

Better? Yea. Much better? I don’t think so. I maintain Armstrong would tear it up on a good team just going deep. He’s a lot better than people realize.

I need to come up with that, like a z-score for yards and touchdowns based on that season.

That is just silly, unless you are confusing Wallace for Nate Washington.

Wallace got a bad wrap because he was only utilized as a deep treat or on smoke screens by Arians. Teams started bracketing him which opened up the field for Antonio Brown. If you check out their 1st half/ 2nd half eason splits, its astounding the difference.

Three seasons of 1,000+ yards over the next five seasons — that would be an O/U bet.

Yeah man, Arians fell in love with those fucking screens. Thankfully he’s gone and hopefully those become rare instances. I can understand wanting to get the ball to your playmakers as much as possible, but those screens were just fucking ridiculous.

Seriously? I thought it was pretty clear that the Patriots would rather pay the cheaper younger guy than the old injured guy looking for a big contract. I haven’t paid a ton of attention, so you may have heard something I havent…

I thought they wanted to keep both Connolly and Koppen to bolster the line. I haven’t heard anything about Koppen being shown the door, I hope that isnt the case.
