Ballin’: Here’s Every Deron Williams 3-Pointer in His 38-Point Outburst Against the Knicks
New Jersey 100, New York 92: Deron Williams wasn’t thrilled when the media asked him about Linsanity last week, so he took out his frustrations on the Knicks – a career-high eight three-pointers to go with 38 points in an awesome display at the Garden. There’s no need to panic, Knicks fans – sure, the Nets were playing their third game in three days, but when a team shoots 15-for-31 from deep, it’s going to win. Deron abused Jeremy Lin (21 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds), Landry Fields (10 points, 11 rebounds), and even torched JR Smith. Just one of those nights. Carmelo Anthony had more turnovers (6) than baskets (4). He scored 11 points in a passive 37 minutes. His return is going to take some time, calm down, tabloids.
Boston 73, Dallas 89: No Rondo, no chance. He’s serving a two-game suspension for throwing a ball at a ref. Dirk (26 points, 16 rebounds) is getting his act together: “I think there’s not a lot of power forwards in this league who are better than me.”
New Orleans 93, Oklahoma City 101: A night after combining for 91 points, Durant and Westbrook “only” went for 62 in an easy win over the Hornets. Hey Chris Kaman, why’d you get out of the way instead of challenging this?
Utah 102, San Antonio 106: Hey, how come nobody’s talking about Tony Parker (23 points, 11 assists) for MVP? He’s been fantastic for short-handed San Antonio! The Spurs have won 11 in a row! That’s for you, commenter who shall remain nameless.
LA Lakers 103, Portland 92: Kobe’s still smooth. For all the panic and drama surrounding the Lakers, they’re only one game back of the Clippers in the Pacific.
Denver 103, Minnesota 101, OT: Nice win for the Nuggets, who were without Gallo, Nene and Rudy Fernandez, plus lost Ty Lawson to injury in the second quarter and Andre Miller to ejection. Al Harrington (31 points on 29 shots) had to carry the offense. Check out the rookie on rookie crime below, as Faried swatted Rubio’s layup attempt.

Lin got DerOWNED.
/all I got

Greg Oden watched that dunk from his hospital bed.
Geez. One day after Durant goes for 51 and then dunks of Chris Caveman, Oden has his fifth knee surgery. To think they went 1-2 just a few years ago.

And yet, when they pumped up Jeremy Lin you were there with a fire hose connected to a gasoline hydrant trying to create the great
ChicagoNew York Fire.February 21st, 2012 at 11:32 AM
I watched the entire second half and the Nets are not a good basketball team. At all.

That game became competitive once LA stopped feeding the beasts in the paint and Mamba decided to play mamba ball.

SC – After 9 games, yes, reason to be excited about Lin. After 37 minutes, you’re ready to make a firm decision on Melo/Lin?

Cant help but feel bad for him, Im sure he would give some of that money back just to be healthy and playing

contract year. Better not to appear on any posters. No matter how bad he plays, there’s a chance he could end up with Kwame Brown money next year. Just don’t make waves.

Arent you the one who made a decision on Lin after 5?
February 21st, 2012 at 11:36 AM
If you needed any more evidence that this truncated season was going to be weird how’s about the Nets winning in Chicago and New York sandwiched around a home loss to the Bucks?
Watched a good deal of the horrid Bulls-Nets game on Saturday and decided I’d rather have Mr. Kardashian on the team than Carlos Boozer

This Lin stuff started happening after 2 games, not 9. So I guess we’re a game early for putting Lin/Melo on blast.

I liked the gay ESPN headline that CRM tweeted about. It’s Not What You Think.

Lin is good, and he will probably get better with time and coaching. But his D is not good and he will get ABUSED by scoring PGs every time until his D gets better. Just like the rest of the Knicks backcourt. Which is why they will be lucky to win one playoff series let alone 2

Just saw the compensation for Theo Epstein was Chris Carpenter and got very confused for a second.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:38 AM
Martell Webster, Martell Webster’s haircut, and Martell Webster doing this was the best part if that game.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:39 AM
What the NO-OKC final result doesn’t show is the furious 2nd half of the Hornets, who cut a 20+ point lead to just 8 points and forced the Durant/Westbrook show to keep making shots. Honestly, if you like basketball, you gotta root for Monty Williams, who’s not allowed the Hornets to sink into a Bobcats-like funk.
As for Melo, it’s a no win situation. He’s gotta adapt to the new way of playing (which will take time and draw criticism) or pout and get his way (which will draw criticism).

Further proof that god doesn’t exist.

Who doesn’t get abused by scoring PGs?
February 21st, 2012 at 11:42 AM
JR Smith 3-14 from 3 ball land so far… Marshon Brooks was a great pick for the Nets. Also Humphries needs to embrace his villain role.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:43 AM
A triple digit hurler for a front office executive. John Henry and Larry Lucchino crying to the principal, everybody.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Who doesn’t get abused by scoring PGs?
Point guards who play good defense. Was that a legit question?
February 21st, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Also Humphries needs to embrace his villain role.
So…steal Big Kardashian from Lamar and put a video of it before the Mavs-Nets game a la HHH?
February 21st, 2012 at 11:45 AM
He’ll be better when he shreds some of his Keno Davis-taught “defensive” habits.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:45 AM
I assume when you say scoring PGs, you mean Rose, Westbrook, and Deron. Who can single those guys and slow them down? Eric Snow is not walking through that door.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:46 AM
And, unfortunately for C’s fans, it was actually the Celtics who picked him.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:46 AM
Nothing on Derrick Rose’s return to glory yesterday? I wish every day was President’s Day if it meant afternoon NBA basketball on
February 21st, 2012 at 11:46 AM
Yea pretty much this. You just try to make them have to shoot 20 to get 20. But they will get there points one way or another. I don’t think giving up 103 to the Nets is a real problem. Its only scoring 93 that is the issue. I don’t know what Mike D’antonis teams records are when they score less than a 100 but I am sure its not good.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:47 AM

3rd quarter was ugly. Bulls let them back in that one. I really liked what I saw from Jo yesterday though. Lot more active around the offensive glass.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:48 AM
Example: I’m sure Orlando does a great job of slowing Rose down, but it has almost zero to do with Jameer Nelson’s “defense.”
February 21st, 2012 at 11:49 AM
I was going to wake up from my nap to catch the end of the Knicks game but decided to bail on that idea at my first alarm. It was a late term abortiLin.
… terrible
February 21st, 2012 at 11:49 AM
The fact that a great coach like Carlisle felt it necessary to throw Marion on Lin from the tip should tell you all you need to know about Lin as a pro player. The kid is good.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:51 AM
I assume when you say scoring PGs, you mean Rose, Westbrook, and Deron.
There are probably 10-15 PGs who are not elite that would torch Lin right now. A decent defensive PG would only get beat badly by the elite guys you just mentioned and maybe 2-3 others. Thats what I meant, PGs who can score but usually dont would hurt the Knicks badly

Jason Kidd in his prime would have slowed these guys down. Probably not right now.

especially when you consider he sent the week stifling other point guards.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:56 AM
Good point.
Ty Lawson 1-8 and Jrue Holiday 0-9 in the prior two games.

For sure — the 4pm start was fantastic. Too bad ATL sucks hard.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:58 AM
There’s about to be freezing cold soccer on with Real Madrid playing in Moscow here in a few minutes. Might get to see a horrid knee injury or two on the artificial turf!
February 21st, 2012 at 11:58 AM
I think some people predicted the Hawks to go to the Finals.
February 21st, 2012 at 11:59 AM
I think some people predicted the Hawks to go to the Finals.
They also have the coach of the year runner up.
Who cares if he’s currently an assistant for the Knicks.
February 21st, 2012 at 12:00 PM
Highlight of the season was when Barkley and Kevin Harlan got caught on camera saying the Hawks are awful to watch.
February 21st, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Thanks!
/GO Spurs!
February 21st, 2012 at 12:02 PM
The Hawks are a different team without Horford and when Josh Smith retreats to taking 20 foot jumpers it’s not going to end well for them
February 21st, 2012 at 12:03 PM
The Spurs are a good team, but sadly they have no chance of doing any damage in the playoffs.
Tim Duncan doesn’t have that extra gear anymore.
February 21st, 2012 at 12:06 PM
The Wizards are such a dumpster fire. Forget Free Nash. Free Wall.
February 21st, 2012 at 12:07 PM
The Hawks are the Washington Redskins of the NBA. Bound to be boring as hell to watch if their good or bad.
February 21st, 2012 at 12:07 PM
I was skeptical of this. Went back and looked at opposing point guards’ stats in Lin’s 9 starts. Not exactly a hall of fame list: D-Will, Kidd, Greivis, Tyreke, Calderon, Rubio, Fisher, Wall and Devin Harris.
They are shooting 47.5%, scoring 17.9 ppg and averaging 6.1 assists per game.
In the words of JMac, draw your own conclusions.
February 21st, 2012 at 12:13 PM
The conclusion is you’re pretty racist.
February 21st, 2012 at 12:25 PM
If you are going to be racist at least be a pretty racist.
February 21st, 2012 at 12:38 PM
Love the kid’s game so much. He’s going to be great on offense
February 21st, 2012 at 12:42 PM
Fuck that noise, Parker has been playing awesome this year. The young guys they’ve developed are contributing. When Splitter comes back healthy, he and Duncan will give them enough size to compete. They have finally structured their team to not rely on a healthy Manu. I like their chances against all the teams in the West except OKC.
