as with every sport, no one can agree on what MVP means

exactly. the worst part is the sports writers have no consistent metric from year to year. one year they say an mvp can’t come from a losing team, the next season they make arguments as to why an mvp can come from a losing team. mvp’s are the best player on the best team, but then they award the player with the most game winning hits/points.

it’s the sports equivalent to political spin doctors.

one major factor he’d have on his side is espn. they will be his pr firm, and just like marketing budgets for heisman candidates, it makes a difference to have hype on your side. like juries, mvp voters are only human, but not sequestered

You really think if the Knicks continue winning and Lin keeps up the numbers there wouldn’t be a contingent arguing for him to be MVP? Not that he would have a shot at winning, or that he would deserve to win,

if he keeps up the production (minus the turnovers) and the knicks keep winning, he is the MVP.

I don’t really have a problem with the Lin as MVP article because I’ve heard the idea bantered about in other places. Also remember the rumblings to name Tebow MVP based on 5 games? Or Manning MVP because he didn’t play at all? There have been crazier suggestions for MVP.

You really think if the Knicks continue winning and Lin keeps up the numbers there wouldn’t be a contingent arguing for him to be MVP? Not that he would have a shot at winning, or that he would deserve to win, but there would be an argument being made out there, largely also because people don’t want to vote for LeBron still.

I’m sure he’s laughing his all the way to the bank with all these Jeremy Lin posts, but that doesn’t necessarily make all the posts respectable writing.
