Kate Upton looks really tired of doing interviews during this interview
It feels like when a team wins the SB and they’re keeping players awake with mandatory TV and radio interviews.
Chris Brown’s new alleged pickup line: “I promise I won’t beat you”
He just doesn’t get it and I doubt he ever will. OK, maybe when he’s working the fryer at McD’s, he might then (doubt it though).
“Dad plays porn instead of ‘Smurfs’ at kid’s party” …

Columnist in Pittsburgh actually wants AJ Burnett. Enjoy.
This is kind of a back handed insult. Of course we want him — our starters suck! He could eat innings and actually could do very well agaisnt the NL Central. Yes we “actually” want him.

To drive that precisely, to hit the guy but not kill him, is weirdly skillful. Yikes.
Hilarious: Watch a woman texting and wipe out at the :14 mark.
Serves her right. Whatever she was sending couldn’t have been as important as actually staying upright.

Ha!
February 17th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
I find myself thinking, “I’m kinda ok with this.”
I can go both ways on this.
Bus drivers are morons, but that was some pretty savvy maneuvering there.
Cyclists can be dicks and not obey the laws – the laws of physics: bus is bigger, you lose, get out of the way.
/I’m a cyclist and I hate cyclists who are dicks
February 17th, 2012 at 8:57 AM
Those who ride their bike in the middle of the road deserve to get hit. Especially if there is a sidewalk or bike lane next to you. Your dumbass is endangering other people to crash their cars to get around.
February 17th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
we’ve got a lot of bike lanes around my area, the problem is cyclists never use them, instead they prefer to ride on the well traveled roads with no shoulders, pretending not to notice the traffic issues they are causing.
February 17th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
I wish I had strike through capabilities here, I’d do one where I said a girl dressed like that getting raped was her fault, but I’d strike it through to indicate that that dumb fucking cyclist was intentionally jerking that bus around and deserved to get swept off the street like garbage.
It would be facetious, of course. but that guy was literally slowing down a bus full of people, and a street full of traffic.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
I think we made Roundup history. The Pirates were mentioned for the first ever. Well done, Jason.
Only to mock them for trying to improve the team. Stupid Pirates. Just get contracted already.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
AJ Burnett is not a bad pitcher, and if the price is free, then just about any team would want him.
The Mets should take him. They don’t have to face great hitters in the NL East except for maybe Ryan Howard and Ryan Zimmerman. He can’t suck THAT bad.

less than sign, the word strike, greater than sign. At the end, repeat the same except add / before the word strike.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
I agree for the most part, but riding on the sidewalk is a pain in the ass. those fuckers that take up a whole lane and don’t give a shit? to the ditch with ya.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
The consensus on Jeremy Lin’s turnovers: He’s an outlier.

February 17th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Fuck that guy. He had it coming.
Nothing worse than some fart sniffer cyclist all dressed up in their dopey little kits on their morning ride during the week and completely dicking up rush hour traffic.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
her attention whore ways degrade much of her attractiveness for me.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Cyclists have every right to the road as cars. That bus driver should go to jail for a very very long time. that’s battery at best, attempted murder at worst.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Loved that article. “Stats tell the whole story, until they don’t.”
I’m going to prescribe some more stats, should clear that right up for you.

every rightthe same responsibility to obey the road as cars.February 17th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
but riding on the sidewalk is a pain in the ass
No .. it’s impossible.
I used to ride home from work a couple of times a week as part of my training. I figured, I gotta get home so wth.
Imagine driving from the Perimeter area of North Atlanta to the North Cobb county suburbs. I’d leave ahead of the traffic, but I was also smart enough to use every side road and parking lot to pass through – I’m not fucking with raged-out traffic-bound lunatics.

I’ve you ever had a cyclist on one side and an 18-wheeler/bus on the other, you’ve felt my rage.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:14 AM
Cyclists have every right the same responsibility to obey the rules of the road as cars.
agreed. from the video, we saw a cyclist obeying the rules of the road, but not quickly enough for the bus driver. is it also okay for the bus to ram a car off of the road if it isn’t driving as quickly as the bus driver wants? It is absolutely shocking that to a man every person on here thinks the driver is in the right.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
I think Sally Jenkins is overrated and only in place thanks to who her father was, but she sure does make Edsall seem like a massive prick.

February 17th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
bus driver was obviously in the wrong in this case, but I think all of us can agree here that just b/c cyclists have the right to the road doens’t mean they all obey the laws or have the common sense to yield to the larger, faster traffic they may be encountering in certain situations.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
boobs.

Pretty funny.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
SS, no the driver doesn’t have the right to inflict injury.
My guess based on the video is the driver may have harbored resentment or frustration against bike riders in general from past encounters. This rider was the unfortunate recipient of the bus driver’s frustration. Don’t make it right, though.
Admittedly, I too have felt the frustration being in traffic/having a near-miss when I am near a rider who ignores rules of the road so “he can keep his heart rate up”.
Difference is, I have to remind myself 1) I don’t wanna go to jail for running over a rider, and 2) if that was a friend or relative on the bike, I would be pissed if a driver ran him/her over.
Both drivers and riders have to be actively committed in following the rules of the road every time. Sharing the road is the right answer.
/blah blah blah
February 17th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
Imagine driving from the Perimeter area of North Atlanta to the North Cobb county suburbs.
I really can hardly imagine that, as I would have assumed it was impossible. Holy cow. Cobb County is about the least bicycle friendly county in a metro area full of counties that are not a bicyclists best friend.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
The bus driver should be in jail but that asshole cyclist knew the bus was behind him and still kept going the same speed/didn’t move out of the way.
Driver: Criminal
Cyclist: Douche Bag
February 17th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
Huh?
what part don’t you understand?
February 17th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
Also, I’ve been told (and yelled at) that sidewalks were for pedestrians… and bikes were supposed to stay on the road.
When I lived in Madison I biked around everywhere, always had to use the bike lane or street.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
Sally Jenkins delivers a strong column that probably reduced Randy Edsall to tears.
Sally Jenkins is the worst sports writer from the WaPo, and that’s saying a lot.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
I would have gone with justifiable attempted homicide.
/don’t know if that’s a real thing, but it the cyclist could have been homicided and it definitely was justified on the bus driver’s part
February 17th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
And a Happy Friday to you too sir.
/just wanted to respond because no one ever wishes that back to anyone on here
February 17th, 2012 at 9:23 AM

very true. in my area cyclists love to ride on 50mph roads and not stay in the bike lane b/c “they have the right to the road”. they don’t deserve to get hit, but they are douchebags.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:24 AM

February 17th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
The bus driver should be in jail but that asshole cyclist knew the bus was behind him and still kept going the same speed/didn’t move out of the way.
To clarify, I don’t commute on a bike, but I do ride around the city on weekends quite a bit (DC). but again, by your rationale, should move to the side of the road or speed up every time you’re driving and someone tailgates you. they want to go faster, and you’re in the way.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:27 AM

February 17th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
Ahhh. That’s where they lost me then.
But can we get past the fact that that driver lost his mind for a mement? How many on here could pull off a move like that successfully? That was pretty incredible! The public transit system in the UK lost a good one today.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
If the cyclist in that video were in an actual motor vehicle and driving it the way he/she was operating that bike, I would still probably feel no sympathy for them.
Just because a cyclist has a “right to the road”, it isn’t a “right to disrupt traffic” or a “right to cut off motor vehicles”. Know your place on the road and act accordingly.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
I suggest self punishment of running over a cyclist. you learn some valuable lessons, but at the same time, it’s a very therapeutic event.

I guess I didnt realize it was legal to ride a bike in the middle of a busy road. Where I live, bikes ride on the shoulder.
unless I’m mistaken, bikes are suppossed to follow the same rules as any other vehicle, and have just as much right to the roadway as a car or bus (unless it’s on a divided highway or interstate/freeway)
February 17th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
Really? Well, then I guess it’s available to everyone else but me. I still see Discount Double Check. But Barrel Man is still what I see for you.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
The cyclist knew what he was doing. Thats all I’ll say about that. And I do move out of the way or speed up If I can. Its common courtesy when driving.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
shit, I know in Amsterdam those trains will about run you the fuck over if you are in the way. the bikers will give you a little ring before they speed by.

February 17th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
seriously though, cyclists don’t have a right to the road…they have a right to a piece of the road. like, the piece over by the side of the road…you know, out of the way of the vehicles the road was built for.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:33 AM

One of the rules is to keep up appropriate speed so as not to disrupt the flow of traffic. Get out the effin’ way.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
Oh, you mean go into oncoming traffic? Yeah, that’s a possibility, not always an option though.

i think cyclists are annoying too, i usually find my away around them though.

If you’ve ever driven or walked in a major city where people take bikes to work, you’ll see that bike riders do not obey many, if not all, the traffic laws. They don’t obey traffic signals, they cut cars off, they don’t yield to pedestrians, they ride their bikes on the wrong side of the road or on the sidewalk… in other words, they’re complete assholes.

Sooooo… golf?
February 17th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
I live in Decatur and one of the main roads I use to get to MARTA was once 3 lanes. They took away one of the lanes to build bicycle lanes going in each direction about a year ago. Traffic has gotten far worse going home in the afternoons and I rarely ever see anyone riding in the bike lane.

The biggest reason I’d consider moving to Utah.
Utah’s insane liquor laws are enough to keep me from moving there, scenery and eye candy be damned.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
so does Sir Spicious think that bike rider was being a total dick, or not?
If you see that video, and the end result isn’t a guy getting hit, is that bike rider who is going that slow in front of a bus, ignoring that it’s behind him, a dick or not?
February 17th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
no argument from me.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
That’s why I just mountain bike. All wounds are self inflicted.

I bet it’s nearly impossible to pass anybody on a 2 line road in Florida, with all the cars coming in both directions.

that’s the problem with living in atlanta.. they throw bike lanes in just to say they threw bike lanes in… with virtually no guarantee that they’d be used. it’s not a bike friendly city, so unless there’s a network of bike lanes that extends throughout the whole city, putting them in one area is useless, and like you said, ends up being a waste of space.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
Enjoyed this, ill.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
I appreciate your suggestion. I guess I should have been more clear in intimating that there’s a pretty constant flow of traffic in the opposite direction in the areas with the dashed line. either way though, I’ll keep your suggestion in mind.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
That just looks like an awesome time though. The Stratosphere in Vegas has a “fall” from the top of their building that seems pretty cool too.
Different strokes I guess.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:45 AM

I really like the concept and wish that Atlanta was more biker friendly, but this is just silly. They base this kind of decision on the “Bike to Work Day” crowd, not reality.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
Yeah miz. Just pass them, dumbass. How haven’t you thought of that before?
February 17th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
Holy shit that looks amazing.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
I think I mentioned it on Twitter a few days ago, but some cocksucker was riding his bike in the middle of the road with two dogs leashed on both handles. It was only a 25 mph back road, but he is still a fuck face.
I kindly flipped him off.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
The worst is when I’m out at my mom’s place 40 miles from no where. Curvy back roads, lots of cyclists, no where to pass, and miles of open fields calling to become cycle cemeteries. It’s so tempting.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
Get a bigger car.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
During my tenure at CMU, like 6 cyclists got hit by cars, and I think all except 1 time (the time somebody died) it was the cyclists’ fault.

I think you missed the part where he said “two lane road”. Usually there’s tons of traffic in those Fla roads and, if you’re caught behind a menagerie of cyclists, there’s little chance to get ahead of them.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
I once saw some fucking asshole purposely try to spook a horse pulling an Amish buggy by getting his car as close to the horse as possible and blaring the horn.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
incredibly, I hadn’t. this kind of advice is exactly why I come here. well, the dong pics too.

well there a nice comment soaked in condescension and sarcasm. nicely done.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
Yup. I’d stock up every chance I get. Thankfully, Colorado isn’t that far away from where that video was filmed.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
If I was stuck behind a bike for more than like 6 seconds I couldn’t not just lay on the horn the entire time
February 17th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
oh I wasn’t hating at all. I’m just not a huge fan of heights, and I am pretty sure that I would need a change of underwear after doing something like that. I think it is badass. to watch that is.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
sounds like they need new city planners. I will submit my resume if anyone knows any govt. officials that can speed it through.

What gets me is the “watering down” they demand. I get you limiting how much someone gets to drink (even if I disagree with it). But actively demanding drinks be wimpier? Get out my face with that!
February 17th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
Oh I was referring to the EIC, not you. Play on.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
Everyone needs to go check out that monkey video in the next post.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
Yikes. One of my Mass-hole uncles came down for our wedding, and he apparantly cut off a buggy and got pulled over. The police here dont take too kindly to that.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
Atlanta is so far behind on infrastructure it is ridiculous. I don’t see how they ever catch up unless the population starts declining.

dude, you have no idea. this city was planned by a bunch of retards. this i am convinced of. this city could be 10000000X better if it wasn’t designed completely around the automobile. it’s still a great place to live, but when you think what it could have been with a little foresight about 30 or 40 years ago…

as long as their solution to everything remains “let’s just add another lane to this road/freeway!” or “let’s just start charging a variable toll on the express lane!” nothing is going to change.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Good for them. I wanted to call the cops on the guy that did it but I didn’t get his license plate number and it was before good cell phone reception existed in farm country so my call wouldn’t have gone through anyway.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:59 AM

i deserved that. i still imagine you driving a buick regal and driving 10 miles under the speed limit though.
February 17th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
it’s still a great place to live
I live here only b/c of work and I don’t really agree with this.
As soon as my youngest is halfway through college, I’m looking to go somewhere else. I live in a nice house in the burbs with good schools and my kid plays top-flight baseball. Other than that, this place is a fucking traffic prison.
February 17th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
Tell them people to piss off! I ignore the looks from those people as well when I’m on campus. as long as you are not obstructing their path, they shouldn’t bitch.
February 17th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
. I live in a nice house in the burbs with good schools and my kid plays top-flight baseball. Other than that, this place is a fucking traffic prison.
oh I would never live in the burbs. obviously i understand why you live there with kids… I was talking more about for someone living inside the perimeter without kids. can’t imagine sitting on 400 for 2.5 hours everyday.
February 17th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
You’ve screwed me again, Pennypacker.
February 17th, 2012 at 10:09 AM
I sit on 400 about 80 minutes each day – not bad considering.
But yeah – the city here is not a good place for kids, but the burbs are set up for them.
I’m a contract consultant – my projects change every 9-18 months so I can be just about anywhere. Near 400 is ideal.
Funny – we moved to our current house to be near a private school for the kids. The school has since gone to crap so my youngest is in the county school.

hey… at least its cheaper.

Police in Austin used to actually give tickets if you rode your bike on the sidewalks near campus instead of in the bike lanes.
