Bill Simmons is Certain the Dallas Mavericks Will be Signing Deron Williams This Offseason
New Jersey Nets fans got all angry in December after I wrote that Deron Williams not signing an extension with the team was a sign that he was gone. Optimistic fans in the Swamp were quick to note that it made complete sense for Williams to opt out, but he could still stay with the Nets. Yeah, right.
Bill Simmons recently wrote that Williams will be joining the Mavericks in July.
We’re all supposed to pretend this might not happen even though it’s a bigger summer lock than Michael Phelps winning a gold medal. I haven’t talked to one person “In the Know” who isn’t 100 percent convinced that Dallas is getting him. But let’s all keep pretending this isn’t true.
The Lakers might have something to do with that – unless they can get Brandon Jennings on the cheap and then team him with Dwight Howard – but Williams returning to his home state seems logical. Especially with Jason Terry and Jason Kidd coming off the books. [Grantland]

wasn’t there just a post on here about how he’s not a FA for 2 more years? what do the lakers have that the bucks would want, when they have jennings under contract making manageable money?

February 15th, 2012 at 5:36 PM
The (podcast) theory on Deron to LA…was once Dwight was no longer an option for NJ, the Nets would then trade Deron to LA for Gasol.

A scoring point guard like Brandon Jennings is basically useless on the Lakers. I feel I covered this last night.

Pardon my basketball obliviousness here but… can Jason Terry play any sort of defense? Kinda curious at what he would cost in the open market. Sure seems like a nice spark plug off the bench.
This is purely hypothetical. I’m just wondering right now.

Don’t fall into that trap, Spence. You’re only enabling them. I tried to explain how there’s a really big TV station in Canada that broadcasts hockey when that moronic SCF post on ratings came out last summer. You’re pissing into the wind after a pot of coffee.

Well technically I gave him too much credit. I wish I could have edited my post.
If Lopez didnt get hurt there is a strong possibility that the D Howard trade goes down and this post never happens. But Im sure thats one of the reasons D Will didnt resign, other than the fact that he would get at ton more money for signing a new deal. but I wouldnt expect TBL to know that cuz it would require research

If you are comparing the Williams & Jennings situations, then you are way off base. Jennings isn’t 1/2 the player Deron is, and is not going to be able to dictate the same type of terms.
February 15th, 2012 at 5:54 PM
To be fair Milwaukee deserves to lose in Phoenix forever. Not only did they win that coin flip but they also traded Lew to the Lakers which is just a double gut punch to the Suns.
February 15th, 2012 at 5:54 PM
Because the Suns have sucked lots in that period of time.
Also, save for about 3 years, the Bucks have sucked way way worse from about 1990 on.

I’ve been told that skiing is like riding a bike and once you learn how to do it then it’s just a matter of regaining the muscle memory. I’m hoping that this is actually the case.

February 15th, 2012 at 6:34 PM
The only problem with snowboarding is that without taking the board off of your feet, there’s only one way you can sit down comfortably. And then you have to have someone help you get up.
February 15th, 2012 at 6:35 PM
Have you boarded before? If not, then you’re still going to be fucking with your knees while trying to get up from falling down. Knees, quads and forearms.

When I first learned how to board, getting on the life with one foot in the binding was pure hell.

I think the intermediate runs are better for learning to snowboard than the beginner runs, because the increased slope forces you to dig your edges in further. flats=snowboard death
February 15th, 2012 at 6:46 PM
I forced myself to learn in half a day. The morning half I went skiing but everyone else was boarding so once lunch hit I said fuck it and switched to a board. I went straight to the top with everyone else and got that shit done in about 3 times down the hill.
/while everyone else put in about 6-7 runs in that time of course

Skiing isn’t that bad. One morning of lessons on the bunny hill when I was 12, followed by the first full downhill that afternoon and I was completely comfortable.

A buddy sent me a snow report earlier this week. They started out with a dry winter, but have been getting a lot since then. They’re averaged 5 inches a day this week.
February 15th, 2012 at 6:57 PM
Just read that Heavenly has a 25-35in base, 8 in new snow, 21 lifts running and 2 parks open.

February 15th, 2012 at 7:23 PM
Seriously?? Right after high school one buddy was going to Cal and decided to go see him and party over there. Somehow we got lost trying to take a short cut and his car broke down in Danville. There were 4 of us and we had to push the car 1/4 mile to the next exit and off the freeway into a Chevron station. So we’re just stuck there until the tow truck can come and just hanging out by the car. After about 5 minutes, two cop cars roll up on us and ask us what we’re doing there and get all our id’s and we have no idea why or what’s going on. Apparently the dude in the little market got scared because he’d been robbed twice in the past week and thought we were going to do the same shit. Pay no attention to the fact that we PUSHED the car into your station idiot…
