NFL Mock Draft 5.0: Pre-Combine Version Featuring Falling Alshon Jeffery
2012 NFL Mock Draft 4.0 Jan. 13, 2012
2012 NFL Mock Draft 3.0, Dec. 23, 2011
2012 NFL Mock Draft 2.0, Oct. 6, 2011
2012 NFL Mock Draft 1.0, May 4, 2011
The first effort was wildly optimistic, the second one was after getting a glimpse of the college talent, the third as the NFL season was nearly complete, and the fourth as players began to declare for the draft. In this pre-Combine (Feb. 22) mock draft, we can focus on who needs what. No explanation below means no change from the last mock.
1. Colts – Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
2. Rams – Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St. I’m sticking with the WR because A) they need to sell tickets, B) if the losing continues, St. Louis could lose the team in a few years, C) No winning seasons since 2003.
3. Vikings – Matt Kalil, OL, USC. Secondary is a massive need (maybe they’ll pick up Routt?), but there will be 1st round DB talent available early in the 2nd. Kalil is win-win for Ponder and Peterson.
4. Browns – Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor. Still not enamored with Griffin like everyone else, but it makes too much sense with Colt McCoy coming off a terrible year, and the franchise not having a QB to get excited about in over a decade (Couch?).
5. Buccaneers – Jonathan Martin, OL, Stanford. Coaching change to a run-happy offense has me thinking OL. Trent Richardson makes sense, but I’m not enamored with grabbing an RB that high.
6. Redskins – Riley Reiff, OL, Iowa. In the mix for Peyton, and even if they don’t get him, there’s no QB worth grabbing here. I’d say the Redskins could be the 49ers next year, but in that division? No way.
7. Jaguars – Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU. A strong secondary could lose two starters. Claiborne is the best corner in the draft and has excellent value here.
8. Panthers – Quinton Coples, DE, UNC. With Claiborne gone, they grab the best DE in the draft to help Johnson harass Brees & Matty Ice.
9. Dolphins – Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor. New coach Joe Philbin is an offensive guy and all he’s talking about is offense. The Wright-Marshall tandem will make Henne look decent, especially with the Bush-Thomas backfield.
10. Bills – Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama.
11. Chiefs – David DeCastro, OL, Stanford.
12. Seahawks – Ohio State OL Mike Adams – Punchless offense scored 17 or fewer points 7 times, so 21st-ranked running game will be enhanced with offensive line help, plus the return of Sidney Rice. Think Ryan Tannehill in the 2nd round – there’s no value in him here.
13. Cardinals – Devon Still, DT, Penn State.
14. Cowboys – Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama.
15. Eagles – Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College. Solid middle linebacker should shore up a mediocre run defense.
16. Jets – Melvin Ingram, LB/DE, South Carolina. I’ve now gone LB, safety and LB/DE in the last three Jets mocks. I can only hope the 6-foot-1 Ingram is a smaller version of Jason Pierre-Paul (who the Eagles passed on two years ago).
17. Bengals (from Raiders) – Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama.
18. Chargers – Michael Brockers, DT, LSU. Staying with this pick, but close to wavering and going offensive line, as Rivers could two lose two starters there.
19. Bears – Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame. With Cutler healthy, the Bears were an NFC contender. Smells like a best-on-board situation. I still think an RB is necessary at some point – Cutler or Forte go down, season over. Window’s closing with an aging defense.
20. Titans – Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois. Even if they fill a DE need in free agency, I still think they go with a pass rusher in the draft.
21. Bengals – Cordy Glenn, OL, Georgia. Three guards are unrestricted free agents, so they’ll definitely go OL in the first round.
22. Browns (from Atlanta) – Lamar Miller, RB, Miami.
23. Lions – Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama. If they can’t grab a CB in free agency, then that should be the direction they go in the draft.
24. Steelers – Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis. Had them going corner the last two mocks, but Big Ben was sacked 10 times in the last three games – including five in the playoff loss to Denver – and thought strongly about OL. But the middle of the defensive line is aging. The No. 1 run D in 2010 slipped to 8th in 2011.
25. Broncos – Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford.
26. Texans – Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin. The Texans are desperate to re-sign Chris Myers, but if they can’t, might as well get the best center in the draft. Yes, there’s a big need at WR, but I think the big names fly off the board early and Alshon Jeffery’s weight gain pushes him way down the board.
27. Patriots (from Saints) – Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers. Everyone’s saying he’s not quite a 1st round pick now. I think Sanu plays his way into the 1st round at the Combine. Belichick-Schiano connection?
28. Packers – Doug Martin, RB, Boise St. Think he’ll blow up at the Combine and Green Bay will snag a reliable running back in hopes that Rodgers stays in the pocket more. The logical move, of course, is to get some defensive help in the woeful secondary.
29. Ravens – Vontaze Burfict, LB, Arizona St. I’d like to think I was the first one to float this on Dec. 23, but I’m sure you can find someone who made the prediction first.
30. 49ers – Mark Barron, S, Alabama. Will be very interesting to see how far he falls due to the hernia injury. I can see him going in the teens or 20s, but the guess this week is that he drops a bit, and San Fran gets lucky.
31. Patriots – Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska. I could do 20 mock drafts and guess 20 different guys on this pick and they’d all be wrong. Nobody nails Belichick picks.
32. Giants – Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse. With Osi departing, Chandler should bookend nicely with JPP.

Alshon Jeffery literally ate $5 million

NO trades outta 2 or 3?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:16 PM
naw, we were excited about kelly holcomb and derek anderson.

February 14th, 2012 at 2:17 PM
Where’s Osi going? He’s still under contract.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:17 PM
The Wright-Marshall tandem will make Henne look decent
Henne will not be their starter week 1. No chance.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:18 PM
I’ve now gone LB, safety and LB/DE in the last three Jets mocks.
So they’re for certain going offense then?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:18 PM
any reason why?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:18 PM
With Osi departing
huh?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:19 PM
8. Packers – Doug Martin, RB, Boise St. Think he’ll blow up at the Combine and Green Bay will snag a reliable running back in hopes that Rodgers stays in the pocket more. The logical move, of course, is to get some defensive help in the woeful secondary.
mock drafts are so stupid.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:19 PM
No idea who this kid is, but I like the position. As long as they go DT/DE or OL with this pick I’ll be happy no matter who it is.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:19 PM
NO trades outta 2 or 3?
2 and 3 are Blackmon and Kalil. You just take your pick there. If you really want Griffin or Claiborne, you go talk to the Browns at 4.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:20 PM
I’ll never fully understand why the Browns didn’t Matt Cassel his ass and sell high. Perplexing.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:20 PM
So the Jets dont take Trent Richardson at 16 if hes there???
February 14th, 2012 at 2:21 PM
lol (again)
February 14th, 2012 at 2:21 PM
mock drafts are so stupid
Only this one, where appartenly its standard to draw names out of a hat
February 14th, 2012 at 2:21 PM
Why does it seem to be everyone is thinking the Rams sell that pick and drop down to get who they want? Even with a lot of recent top picks on QBs (Ten/Jax/Min) surely there’s gotta be enough of a market that Griffin will go second, right?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:22 PM
Because they need to fuck up that pick so we can all laugh at them.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:22 PM
Uh, one of the factors that makes JPP so great is his length. He’s got tarantula arms. I don’t think there can be a short version of him.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:22 PM
cursed.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:24 PM
A split second before Alshon Jeffery lands you’ll want to hit one of the shoulder buttons to jump or else you’ll spin out and lose your item.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:24 PM
I’m sure this has been asked before, but is this draft what TBL thinks will happen, or what he would do if he were picking for each team?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:24 PM
Steelers trade Troy’s bad contract for the number two pick, get Kalil.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:24 PM
If the Bears draft Floyd I’d be really happy…
February 14th, 2012 at 2:25 PM
im not sure which one is the better option.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:25 PM
Nobody nails Belichick picks
… And as of late.. Neither does he.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:26 PM
Wasn’t there a lot of talk about him potentially being a bust, and not having enough experience (a la Vernon Gholstein)
B- from Fox http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2010/04/25/nfl-draft-grades/
Prisco was all over him though http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/13264107

AOL looks dumb too now. http://www.aolnews.com/2010/04/25/2010-nfl-draft-grades-final-verdict/
February 14th, 2012 at 2:26 PM
Anyone seen my hedge trimmer?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:26 PM
I highly doubt a team like the Packers would use a late first round pick on a RB.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:26 PM
This is from the previous mock draft TBL did:
February 14th, 2012 at 2:27 PM
Nobody nails Belichick picks
… And as of late.. Neither does he.
Not sure if you can call Brady a good draft pick either. That was just luck.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:27 PM
surely there’s gotta be enough of a market that Griffin will go second, right?
I’d say it depends on how he does at the Combine/School Workout. If he blows scouts away, there could be some sizzle in moving up for him.
Still the market to move up is limited to the Skins at #6, Dolphins at #9 or Seahawks at #12. Unless someone gets Falcons-dumb for him.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:28 PM
belichick nails cougars…he stockpiles picks. there’s the difference.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:28 PM
As the Browns, Redskins, Dolphins, Chiefs, Cardinals, Eagles, Jets need a running back I do not see Richardson falling that far.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:29 PM
Vikes’ll trade that #3 pick in a heartbeat. Pretty good OL talent this draft
February 14th, 2012 at 2:29 PM
From the AOL link in No. 27:
Fucking hilarious. Franks has been borderline useless while ‘Spoon has been a badass.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:29 PM
His rating out of the pocket was north of 140 last season if memory serves…teams want him contained, why would the Packers go out of their way to aid them in this pursuit
The secondary looks better if they can rush the passer, my guess is that they’ll look OLB or maybe someone like Jerel Worthy to fortify the line
February 14th, 2012 at 2:30 PM
2010 was a really good draft. Every team had a chance to get Gronk/Hernandez, he didn’t exactly luck into them. And unless McCourty really was one-and-done, that’s a lot from a draft. 2011 may still be good, there just wasn’t anyone to help out this year. Supposedly Solder will be the real deal. (though when I’ve seen him he’s blown a couple critical assignments). If they are picking at the back end of every round, got an extra first out of it, and acquired a starting CB and starting LT, and possibly the future QB out of the draft, that seems like a success to me. Let’s settle down a little bit.
Let’s just not talk about 2006-2009, please.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:31 PM
I totally agree with this; which shocks me, by the way. When you take someone in the 6th round you’re taking a flyer with no plans on playing them, especially a QB. That shit is dumb luck more than anything else.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:31 PM
Is that #2 really that valuable for the Ram’s? Who’s seriously shopping for a QB right now?
Browns: Screwed because they would be foolish to trade up two spots when they can get him at 4, and helpless to stop anyone else trading into the spot
Redskins: Obvious, but they seem to think they’re “close” and would probably take a run at Manning
Jags: Daniels was a wreck but they probably can’t justify giving up the Rams asking price to replace him after just one year
Dolphins: Probably end up sticking with Henne
Seahawks: Maybe, but seems like maybe they are OK with Tavaris for now?
Cardinals: Stick with Kolb/Skelton or go FA, maybe Peyton. Again they’re not so desperate to pay the price to trade up
Just seems like there are a lot of teams who would maybe like an upgrade at QB, but not so much that they’re willing to give away a draft to get one. Unless the Redskins totally strike out with Peyton, I don’t see who’s going to be looking to trade up over the Browns.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:32 PM
The 2nd best RB last year and best by YPC and the best rushing team in the league last year needs RB help?
Eagles need ILB, S, WR.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:32 PM
Funny how Greg Jennings and Clay Matthews would solve two of their greatest needs
/Sorry, it had been a while since I brought this up and it was sitting right there
February 14th, 2012 at 2:32 PM
Well… it was good development too, but any 6th/7th round gem is a lot of luck. But now everyone expects Belichick to land Pro-Bowlers in the late rounds every year. He’s drafted great and fine the last two years. Had a tough stretch in the late 00′s.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:32 PM
Maybe he should spend equal time evaluating Running backs and DB’s as Tight Ends.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:33 PM
Dolphins: Probably end up sticking with Henne
not a chance. I’d think they’d go with moore before henne. It’ll be Matty Flynn’s town soon anyway.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:33 PM
[football fatigue]
February 14th, 2012 at 2:34 PM
It’s true. There was some serious crap drafts. The best pick Hoodie made was to trade the 49ers pick back the year they had no 1st of their own for some reason we won’t talk about, and pick up Mayo. People forget he got killed by some people for that pick, calling Mayo a 2nd round talent etc.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:34 PM
He needs to actually draft players with his picks now. Tom Brady has 3-4 years left of top-level football. Don’t piss that away so you can draft 10 guys in the first 4 rounds 4 years from now.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:35 PM
They still had to pull the trigger and draft him. So they did see something in him. Mike Riley, then coaching the Chargers really wanted Brady but AJ said no. It was fortunate he was there but he still had to pick him.
It’s really just let’s not talk about RBs, WRs, and DBs.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:36 PM
Alright with Vontaze and Barron as well.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:36 PM
I feel the same way about baseball and they haven’t even reported yet.
/gonna be a long 200 days
February 14th, 2012 at 2:36 PM
They also had to keep him on the roster as the 4th QB in 2000 because they didnt want to lose him
/according to that Brady 6 documentary
February 14th, 2012 at 2:37 PM
My new strategy: draft 10 WR’s in the 6th/7th/UFA round and bring em all to camp. So sick of people like Victor Cruz doing what he did, while all these high picks flame out.
On a practical question – could you bring in 5 rookies WRs cheaply (from picks that wouldn’t make roster anyway likely) and evaluate them efficiently in camp? Or is there still a high chance of letting one go who becomes great, anyway, and getting stuck with duds.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:38 PM
He really needs to be in Green Bay.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:38 PM
The media would shit their pants if the Lions drafted him.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:39 PM
I don’t get the drafting injury-prone guys and hoping that changes (Dowling). I’d rather have a guy that never gets injured, than an injury-prone ‘better’ player.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:39 PM
OT: VH1 in the background, Whitney Houston video on. When she was fit and clean, her facial structure was exquisite. Not a big fan, but boy she was pretty.
Back to the mock, the Chargers need help on both lines, pronto. And, with Jackson possibly leaving for more $ and Gates on the downside of a good career, playmakers on both sides of the ball are also needed. They have to get this draft right big time.
I think the window for Philip Rivers is closing, and they may not get him enough help fast enough.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:40 PM
This is TMQ stuff right here…just because there are successful undrafted players out there it doesn’t mean it’s foolish to not use high draft picks on one position or another
The Packers have the best receiving corps in the league and if you include Finley it’s three second round picks, two in the third and Donald Driver being the exception taken in the 7th…talent still by and large comes from the top
February 14th, 2012 at 2:41 PM
But then you never would’ve gotten Gronk
February 14th, 2012 at 2:41 PM
Glad we got the update that the Alabama thing was a hoax. Who could have seen that coming?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:41 PM
Yeah how the hell did I forget Shady? Hightower, Not sure how you can grade a S with the new cannot hit WR rules, Ty Hilton will be a steal. I think for S you need a player with ball skills not so much a big hitter.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:41 PM
Seahawks: Maybe, but seems like maybe they are OK with Tavaris for now?
No one is ever OK with Tavaris.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:43 PM
3 Stanford guys in the top 11? But I was led by Duffy to believe that their current recruiting class was bringing in a level of talent they’ve never had before?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:43 PM
Injury-prone =/= was injured once. Dowling was injured a few times, IIRC. Gronk had one issue, and they took a risk in the 3rd round, not the 33rd overall pick.
I’m not saying don’t draft any, I’m just saying if there is any position where late-round picks do better, because there is a clear inability to evaluate the college game and predict pro-success, why not make it a point to exploit that.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:44 PM
Check and mate.
It’s a crapshoot, and I trust BB throwing the dice more than just about anyone. Just needs a few hits on some of these guys and the team will be infinitely better for Brady’s last ride.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:44 PM
Wow, Darren Rovell made himself look like an idiot again.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:45 PM
In that Burfict picture, I like to think he’s yelling at Barkley “Hey, where’s that white bitch in the pink dress who was standing next to your cracker ass?”
February 14th, 2012 at 2:45 PM
Man… I remember how much I loved that trade, and thought he’d be way better than Eli. The only games I saw Rivers play in college were big upset wins. The only time I saw Eli he had like 4 and 6 picks.
/shows what I know
February 14th, 2012 at 2:46 PM
Yeah, S is maybe second concern for the Eagles, but they definitely need to upgrade WR & ILB
February 14th, 2012 at 2:47 PM
Not really. Dowling had a knee injury, hamstring injury, and something else I think. He may turn it around, but there is a big difference between one flukey injury, that you believe is healed, and a trend of them. I’m not saying I hate the pick, if BB loves him that much… I just am not a fan of drafting guys who were consistently injured in college.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:49 PM
They still had to pull the trigger and draft him. So they did see something in him.
They also had to keep him on the roster as the 4th QB in 2000 because they didnt want to lose him
/according to that Brady 6 documentary
Ok, fine. But Pioli himself has admitted that it was pure luck Brady ended up being who he was.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:49 PM
Cliff Harris to the Raiders.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
As the Browns, Redskins, Dolphins, Chiefs, Cardinals, Eagles, Jets need a running back I do not see Richardson falling that far.
i’ll cut my pinky finger off if shanny takes a RB in the 1st, and i’m a bama fan.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:51 PM
, LB, Arizona St.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:52 PM
“If I was so smart,” Pioli said, “I wouldn’t have risked an entire round of the draft in picking Brady.”
He keeps (kept) a picture of Brady on his desk next to a picture of Dave Stachelski.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:52 PM
Wrong shitty Mizzou QB…but the point is made. However, it is much less costly to replace 1st round picks now. If you have messed up, you correct it.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:52 PM
SD probably has a ring if they kept Brees.
Never trust an NC State player.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:52 PM
What now?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:52 PM
Kinda really. Everyone was harping about Gronk’s back. Injuries in football are flukey as hell. I think it was Wilhite that went down with a knee in training campa few years ago. They were all high on him and then boom, bad wheel, never recovered.
Brady’s talent and work ethic made him who he is, THAT has nothing to do with luck.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:53 PM
Brady’s talent and work ethic made him who he is, THAT has nothing to do with luck.
What does Brady’s talent and work Ethic have to do with the Patriots drafting him in the 6th round?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:54 PM
Wow, Darren Rovell made himself look like an idiot again.
What now?
He got down on a knee and asked Kate Upton to be his valentine on national TV. (He has a pregnant wife, mind you).
She rejected him.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:54 PM
I think the key question to ask here is “Who could be the next Jeremy Lin?”
February 14th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
he lands on the browns or raiders or bills or any other team that didn’t contend at all in the past decade, we never hear of tom brady. that’s luck.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
It’ll be a defensive player. And Martin isn’t a 1st round talent.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
The luckiest thing in the whole Brady mess was Mo Lewis.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
Man… I remember how much I loved that trade, and thought he’d be way better than Eli.
I wanted this sooooo bad. I was pissed that the Mannings got their way. How dare they insult my favorite team?
I really, really wanted Rivers to be the better QB to shove it up the collective butts of Mannings and their sycophants. “First Family of Football”, my ass.
Meanwhile, we know how the story ends. Dang it.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
My only point is that one injury = fluke two injuries = trend, three injuries = foregone conclusion. I’d see a guy with a single injury that I believe is fully healed as buying low on a guy. I’d see a guy with three serious injuries as having a history, and be more wary.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
and this is a surprise?
February 14th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
Damnit. That guy is awful.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:57 PM
Wow, Darren Rovell made himself look like an idiot again.
and this is a surprise?
No, not at all. My “wow” was soaked in sarcasm.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:57 PM
Spencer, you still around?
My boss just got back from Palm Springs. He got to play the Madison Club. Said it was like Shadow Creek on steroids.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:57 PM
Shutting down firstrowsports was money well spent by the American Gov’t.
/Champions League Broadcast
February 14th, 2012 at 2:58 PM
Ok then, every good player that made it on a good team instead of a shitty one ever was total luck.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:58 PM
After Siragusa breaks Gannon’s shoulder (with a belly flop) in the AFCCG, Tommy would have led the Raiders to multiple Super Bowls.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:59 PM
all im saying is luck def plays into it. esp when the player in question has no control over where he plays…he landed in a perfect spot.
February 14th, 2012 at 2:59 PM
But what if he was Asian???
February 14th, 2012 at 2:59 PM
LOL. Who the hell would trade the #2 for Troy? No one, that’s who.
February 14th, 2012 at 3:01 PM
But what if he was Asian???
he’d have a small penis.
/whitlock’d
February 14th, 2012 at 3:01 PM
it looks unbelievable…id love to see those greens up close, they look tough, to say the least.
February 14th, 2012 at 3:02 PM
It has to do with Brady being who he is, not where he was picked. He would have been the same guy no matter where he was picked but as spencer said may not have had the same on-field success.
February 14th, 2012 at 3:03 PM
And all I’m saying is that same level of luck exists for other players.
February 14th, 2012 at 3:04 PM
Browns: drafting too high
‘Skins: drafting too high + Helu
Fins: Bush + Daniel Thomas (2nd rounder last year)
Chiefs: Charles
Cards: Beanie + Ryan Williams (2nd rounder last year)
Eagles: Lol
Jets: possibly

I had never heard of it. He played the Hideaway Club too. One of their buddies goes to Vegas every month & bets real, real big. Gets lots of perks.

The 6th round definitely put a chip on his shoulder. He still mentions it.

so then we’re in agreement.

all im saying is luck def plays into it. esp when the player in question has no control over where he plays…he landed in a perfect spot.
And all I’m saying is that same level of luck exists for other players.
Okay… well I wasn’t talking about Tom Brady’s “luck” vs. “skill.” I was talking about the organizations luck in drafting him. Picking him in the 6th round wasn’t a skill so much as it was lucky. All I’m saying.

They have taken OT with their 1st round pick the last 2 years. I think they avoid paying Lynch and take Richardson. Or if the Chiefs do not draft DeCastro, they go with him.

I loved Brockers at LSU last year, but he’s got a lot of red flags for 1st round pick. He’s on the tall side for a DT (leverage issues at times), only really played one year, and he was basically a part-time player (all of LSU’s d-linemen were with the way they rotated guys). Hell of an athlete, but I dont see him making an immediate impact.

So, is it official that Alshon Jeffery is too fat to be a good NFL WR?

They have taken OT with their 1st round pick the last 2 years.
that’s not relevant to these mock drafts.

As the Browns, Redskins, Dolphins, Chiefs, Cardinals, Eagles, Jets need a running back I do not see Richardson falling that far.
The Dolphins are good at RB with Bush and Thomas. The Eagles and Chiefs? Really? Lesean Mccoy and Jamal Charles are studs.

Re: Eli and San Diego, from all the stories I have read, Smith wanted Rivers all along as well. He also knew the Giants wanted Eli, so even though he had no deal in place, he took Eli anyway. Then the Giants front office held firm on no Osi in the deal, and Smith came back looking for draft picks. So even though Eli said he did not want to play in San Diego, San Diego did not want Eli.

It would totally be like Belichick to take this guy no one knows about here
While this guy is still on the board.
Why not, it’s not like the Pats really need to improve on defense…
