The Steelers Are Going to Release Hines Ward
Hines Ward will be cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers according to a report by the NFL Network. Ward, who recently had ankle surgery, said during Super Bowl week that he wanted to return to the Steelers next year and wasn’t ready to retire.
Ward only started 9 games last season and caught just 46 passes – his lowest total in more than a decade. The Super Bowl MVP has played his entire 14 year career in Pittsburgh and he was a member of the teams that won the Super Bowl in 2005 and 2008.
Ward was selected in the third round of the 1998 draft. A 4-time Pro Bowler, Ward missed just 7 games in 14 years. With exactly 1000 receptions, Ward is #8 on the all-time reception list. He is the Steelers all-time leading receiver and he won Season 12 of Dancing With The Stars.

as a Pitt fan, it’s sad to see him go but it’s time. I’ll be wearing the 86 jersey long past it’s arrival on the ring of honor and long past its arrival to Canton.

The fact that he’s half Korean really bolsters (h/t JMac) his candidacy, I think.

IDGAF if Hines Ward was “dirty”, loved that he was able, willing, and happy to kill anyone on the other side of the ball when he wasn’t getting it.
