RIP Whitney Houston
Singer Whitney Houston has died of the age 48. As of now, the cause and location of her death remain unknown. Based on the rapidly changing reports from CNN and all of the rumors flying around Twitter, we’ll leave it at that until we hear something just a tad more concrete. The sad news comes just one night before the Grammy Awards. Houston had been scheduled to attend a pre-party for the event this evening hosted by Clive Davis, who discovered the singer in New York City back in 1983 while performing alongside her mother.
To sports fans, Whitney Houston will always be remembered for her spine-tingling rendition of the National Anthem at Super Bowl XXV in Tampa. The unforgettable performance pretty much set the gold standard, leaving everyone else dueling for rights to second place.
Houston is survived by Bobbi Kristina, her 18-year-old daughter with ex-husband Bobby Brown.

Isn’t it widely known that she lip-synced the anthem?
February 11th, 2012 at 9:41 PM
So famous was this rendition, it was sold as a single. Even Marvin couldn’t match this version.
February 11th, 2012 at 9:43 PM
Wow. I guess Marvin has to die again for him to get his due.

screw ABC for cutting into It’s Valentines Day Charlie Brown for this piece of non news.

Carl Lewis would like a word.
She had a ton of good songs and hasnt done shit for like 20 years except binge on illicit shit. Man. 170 million albums. That is just a staggering amount. My sisters played her shit endlessly.

Even if she lip synched it, I honestly don’t care. Some artists I think that’d seem pretty weak – but in her case her ability to sing that great was undeniable. Plus we were all waiting to nuke the shit out of Saddam at the time.

I’ll never forgive her for ruining the career of Bobby Brown. How many #1 hits did he have after they got married?

It would have been SO much better had she not lip-synced.

ballz, you wouldn;t say no if she wanted to lip-sync you
February 11th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
I don’t even know what that means. But I do like crack.
February 11th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
crack….man i tried a lot of things, but either i was afraid to do that or it wasn’t an option when i was experimenting. i think i’d have been afraid tho. no pcp, no heroin, no glue, but everything else
February 11th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
OKay, so the Eddie Murphy Sexual Chocolate scene has not been posted yet?
February 11th, 2012 at 11:22 PM
PCP and acid are the only drugs I haven’t tried. And I really want to try acid.
February 11th, 2012 at 11:26 PM
i survived and of course thrived with acid ballz. one of the most fun anticipation drugs. waiting, waiting, waiting, then all of a sudden you realize your most recent smile has been there for five minutes. never had a bad trip, tho one time my mom ended my night by roundhousing me in front of my friends. she didn;t know what i was on, but she knew i was on
anyway, it’s like shrooms. only reason i don’t mess anymore is because any trouble now is a lot worse than trouble then (wife, family, income, etc.) they say it enhances whatever mood you are in, so if you are down/angry, bad trips are more likely. not sure bout that, but again, i never had a bad one
February 11th, 2012 at 11:29 PM
Sounds awesome. When I ate shrooms it was really fun. I remember my bedroom looking really big, and laughing my ass off staring at my reflection in the bathroom mirror.
February 11th, 2012 at 11:33 PM
Amazing talent. Bad judgment just did her in. RIP Whitney.
February 11th, 2012 at 11:37 PM
Haven’t been around here in months. Nice to see lots of familiar people still around. Roast Beef and Ballz, How’s it going?
February 11th, 2012 at 11:37 PM
What? Before acid, you’ve done meth, heroine, crack, and oxy? That seems backwards to me.
February 11th, 2012 at 11:39 PM
She was hotter in hell in that movie with Kevin Costner.
You had to be an adult (or aware of something more sophisticated than farting) in 1991 to realize how important that song was. The US was caught up in a post-Vietnam angst about the use of military force, and there was a tremendous amount of guilt over the lack of patriotism, of the treatment of Vietnam vets, and real fear of fighting what was a real war for the first time in 20 years. That performance meant an awful lot to those of us who were younger, and wanted to feel good about the country after growing up in an America where the most profound experience had been Family Ties and the Jeffersons.
February 11th, 2012 at 11:39 PM
meth, heroine, crack, and oxy
gateway, baby
hi msu. what’s kept you away?
February 11th, 2012 at 11:42 PM
the Jeffersons
love the theme song
oh and msuspartan, we had some fun the other day, if you really like old names, at archive.org. there’s a thing called the Wayback machine, and if you type in thebiglead.com, there are a bunch of screengrabs from 06- the present. ballz can attest to the addiction of that nostalgia
February 11th, 2012 at 11:42 PM
Availability had a lot to do with it. I haven’t done crack, but I’ve done speed and coke lots of times. That’s gotta make up for it.
Well, I still haven’t done acid, so it could be going better.
February 11th, 2012 at 11:48 PM
and not to nitpick, but it’s roastbeast. my favorite name, and it’s reserved for xmas holidays
February 11th, 2012 at 11:51 PM

February 12th, 2012 at 12:13 AM
I don’t have time anymore. Work all the time. Just got back from the Joe and decided to chill for the night.
February 12th, 2012 at 12:13 AM
I know two people that have jumped off buildings to their deaths while on shrooms
February 12th, 2012 at 12:15 AM
if they weren’t on shrooms and did that jose, would it have been a surprise? or are the shrooms completely to blame?
Just got back from the Joe
another rw winner? like 19-20 straight right?
February 12th, 2012 at 12:19 AM
It was MSU vs UofM. Wings play Tuesday for 21 straight to break the record. I work 2 minutes from the Joe so it was nice to just hop on the people mover to get there.

i get this. just had a bunch added a couple weeks ago. when you are self-employed, wasting company time is not allowed.
i get on at night more than day because i can get work done after kids hit the sack. it’s hard to stay away during the day. it’s my favorite time waster

the moment he dies he is probably going to turn to dust or just simply vanish like yoda and become one with the force.

Once I can work from home, I’ll be around more often but once I get into it at work I don’t get distracted.

of a whiskey proof liver, i’m back baby i’m back.
February 12th, 2012 at 12:57 AM
broke as in zero or broke as in deep red?
February 12th, 2012 at 2:05 AM
No idea how Ballz has never done acid. But you should definitely do it sometime. The most fucked up I have ever been was on acid, and it was a (mostly) good time. I prefer shrooms, but you have to at least try acid.
