Jeremy Lin Put Derek Fisher on Spin Cycle [UPDATE: Lin Scores 38 Points, Knicks Win]
Jeremy Lin’s legend continues to grow: 18 points and five assists in one half against Kobe’s Lakers. Yes, Lin’s doing most of his damage against 37-year-old Derek Fisher. Still: Impressive. This spin move sent the Garden into a frenzy. Here’s a GIF of it. The Knicks lead, 49-41. Earlier in the first half, Lin did this.
[UPDATE: Lin finished with a career-high 38 points and seven assists and the Knicks won, 92-85.]

I always find the term “career-high” funny when used on a rookie or a game with little game experience under his belt.

I still find it hard to believe he’ll be anything other than a good backup PG at best, but that was definitely impressive, and entertaining. Shame he plays for the Knicks.

Sorry for quoting myself, but I should say there’s nothing wrong with being a good backup pg. They just don’t usually get many posts on blogs (although I guess that’s what Brandon Jennings will be in a couple years, so who knows).

Lin is not a 38 PPG guy. The league will adjust. But the Knicks have something going on. The sad (almost tragic) part is that once Carmelo returns, all this teamwork and passing will degenerate into a one-man post up game. Get thee gone Carmelo.

If I didn’t actually watch Lin’s breakout game against the Nets where both Anthony and Stoudamire played, and encouraged him in running the offense, I still wouldn’t run with this narrative.

A guy comes out of absolutely nowhere and puts up All Star numbers in his first 4 games, an Asian guy with an Econ Degree from Harvard and you can’t understand the excitement around him? Maybe you’re too cool for sports.

Chicago’s quote from yesterday: “No matter how well Lin plays tonight (against Derek Fisher and Steve Blake, mind you), the quoted words are just offensive to anyone that is an NBA fan.” and “this makes me so sad.”
This site used to be so great (talking about the commenters not the writers) and now it’s just like every other site that allows open discussion with hate fueled idiots. This is the biggest post-superbowl sports story in the country right now because he’s a guy that came outta nowhere and is playing really well (albeit for a short span) in the biggest sports town in the world. Sorry if that doesn’t impress you.
Doesn’t surprise me that Chicago also dropped an incredibly racist comment in this article. Doesn’t surprise me at all.
