Brandon Jennings May or May Not Want to Explore His Options When His Rookie Contract Expires
Brandon Jennings, probably the best Milwaukee Buck since Ray Allen was traded away in 2003*, told ESPN’s Chris Broussard that he’s keeping his options open when it comes to signing an extension with the club. Try to follow this quote:
“I’m not saying I won’t (sign an extension with the Bucks) and I’m not saying I will,” he said. “I’m just keeping my options open.”
Why bother bring it up? Is this ESPN creating a story way before it should be one, or Jennings’ agent looking to capitalize on an All-Star snub? Jennings is on the hook for the remainder of this season and next season. So he’s 17 months from becoming a free agent.
Regarding his beef with the organization putting together a flawed team … yes, I think the Drew Gooden acquisition was awful, and ditto Amir Johnson. Trading for a malcontent like Stephen Jackson was bound to blow up in their face. Toss in Andrew Bogut’s inability to stay healthy and they’ll be lottery-bound, again.
The Bucks’ best option might be to trade Jennings before this situation becomes contentious, kind of like Utah shipping Deron Williams to New Jersey. I think the point guard-less Lakers seem like a natural fit for the flashy Jennings, who is from Compton. [WFNY]

* I know Michael Redd was a fantastic shooter and averaged 26 a night before injuries ruined a promising career, but I feel Jennings is a much more complete player than Redd.

Menarky Party isn’t allowed to talk about basektball anymore.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:05 PM
but I feel Jennings is a much more complete player than Redd.
not really
/shrugs
He’s improved his shooting this year, but if he doesn’t want to be there, I’m not going to miss him. He can’t make a mediocre team better. Derrick Rose clowned his ass last Saturday night.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:05 PM
God TBL your a fuckin idiot.
Amir Johnson plays for the Bucks huh?
February 10th, 2012 at 4:06 PM
Never heard of him.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:07 PM
Amir Johnson plays for the Bucks huh?
Holy shit I missed that.
/FACEPALM
I don’t think he’s ever stepped foot in Milwaukee.

February 10th, 2012 at 4:10 PM
That’s how I feel about literally all but 6 active hockey players.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:10 PM
Did ESPN write an article extrapolating trades based on a GM’s vague quotes?
February 10th, 2012 at 4:11 PM
so we’re 17 months away from giving a shit? good to know.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:14 PM
Also, Brandon Jennings is in no way more of a complete player than Redd was at his prime.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:14 PM
Brandon Jennings’s free agency? What.the.fuck.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:14 PM
Love.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:15 PM
Maybe he should focus a little more on making his current team better. Guy is shooting 42% and gets 5 assists a game.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:15 PM
From the day Brandon Jennings entered the league in 09-10 to 1/19/2012, exactly 108 players have attempted 1500+ field goals (he ranks 26th with 2351 attempts). At 38.5 percent, Jennings has the worst field goal percentage of any of them, and it isn’t even close. The only other player out of the entire group to even shoot below 40.0 percent is Trevor Ariza (39.7 percent on 1822 attempts). Shrinking the attempts threshold and moving down the list, the first player to match his ineptitude is 151st-ranked Rasual Butler (38.5 percent on only 1190 attempts).
February 10th, 2012 at 4:15 PM
Agreed. Not even close, actually.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:16 PM
In 11-12, Jennings has raised his TS% to slightly above the positional average, but Beno Udrih and Shaun Livingston are PGs on his own team that have still outperformed him in that department. Jon Leuer, Shaun Livingston, Beno Udrih and Tobias Harris all have higher true shooting percentages, yet Jennings has nearly taken more shots than all four players combined.
All the while, Jennings has only managed a career average of 5.3 assists per game. To get all Darren Rovell on you, he records one assists for every 6.31 minutes on the floor, but takes one shot every 2.26 minutes. Put another way, Jennings has a 2.79:1 shot attempts to assist ratio.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:18 PM
Wow, this got entertaining fast.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:18 PM
What’s funny about this is that the NBA is TBL’s sport.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:18 PM
Rondoman, Jennings is a superstar. Nothing will tell me otherwise.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:19 PM
*you’re
LOL yeah guess Im the real idiot.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:19 PM
TBL I would understand these mistakes in your baseball posts, because you never watch it. But this is your favorite fucking sport. Get it together man…
February 10th, 2012 at 4:20 PM
Holy god, he’s shooting 6.5 threes a game. Unreal.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:20 PM
Why bother writing a post about it? Is this McTibble brought to you by USA Today reporting a non-story as filler?
February 10th, 2012 at 4:20 PM
I dont understand TBL’s fascination with average to below average players.
Jennings and Jimmer come to mind.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:21 PM
I’m going to need to see proof of said shit-giving in 17 months, because I still don’t think I’ll have the ability to do so, myself.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:21 PM
my name’s milwaukee buck and im here to fuck.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:21 PM
Not that anyone really cares but there is a good breakdown of Jennings right here.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:22 PM
Brandon Jennings’s free agency? What.the.fuck.
J-Mac is laying the foundation for when Nuprin leaves for the Lakers and the Knicks need a new PG.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:24 PM
To be fair to TBL… Toronto and Milwaukee are …. well not similar in any way shape or form.

February 10th, 2012 at 4:24 PM
If you’re going to write a post about an invented story, you may as well report on idiotic NY shit like “Tom Brady boasts in speech to fans”.
/oh wait
February 10th, 2012 at 4:24 PM
He tends to behave (I mean to offense to the ladies) like a female when it comes to players that have popular names or whatever, even though they deserve no attention.
TBL, you should have written this post ripping Jennings for even talking like this. Because as rondoman has showed, he pretty much fucking blows at basketball right now.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:24 PM
fortunately i document and catalog my bowel movements. ill make sure to send you a copy.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:25 PM
This trade might be the biggest shit-swap of all-time. Bucks got Jackson, Shaun Livingston, the 19th pick (turned into Tobias Harris), and Bene Udrih. Bobcats got Corey Maggette, the 7th pick (Bismack Biyambo). Kings got Salmons and the 10th pick (Jimmer).
February 10th, 2012 at 4:25 PM
i think he’s talking about football or baseball free agency.
/because nobody gives a shit about basketball free agency anymore since lebron scared every owner shitless
February 10th, 2012 at 4:25 PM
I agree that this dude is freaking garbage. Who gives a shit where he goes… he’ll be swimming in mediocrity his entire NBA career. Better post by TBL, would you rather have him or Linsanity?
February 10th, 2012 at 4:27 PM
BUCKTROVERSY!
February 10th, 2012 at 4:28 PM
Even with the injuries isn’t Bogut a better player that they’ve had than Jennings too?
February 10th, 2012 at 4:29 PM
he pretty much fucking blows at basketball right now.
Oh this is true for sure… I was just pointing out the fact that he blew even worse last year and, you know, occasionally will make a jump shot this year.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:30 PM
Even with the injuries isn’t Bogut a better player that they’ve had than Jennings too?
Yes, Bogut, when healthy, is pretty good as far as centers go. He’s a lot better than “young money” that’s for sure.

You guys are taking a Dave Matthews tour bus style dump on this post. I’m entertained.
The 3 resident Bucks fans here finally get a Bucks post, but it’s about what a player that most Bucks fans are indifferent about will do 2 years from now.
Also, Amir Johnson was added to the roster somehow.

Curry imitating his coach.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:34 PM
Brandon Jennings Twitter avatar used to be a picture of himself standing in between some girls legs while she was on her back, shirtless (and probably pantsless) from her point of view.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:35 PM
Hey Spence, golf question.
What’s the culprit if I use to shoot low-to-mid 90s as a weekend warrior and now I’ve consistently started hitting behind the ball? I’m talking missing the ball by a couple inches; it’s disgusting. I can get away with it somewhat with woods and hybrids but know it’s a horrible swing departure.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:36 PM
Is this ESPN creating a story way before it should be one, or Jennings’ agent looking to capitalize on an All-Star snub
I’m still trying to figure out what the second part of that sentence means… how does an agent “capitalize” on an all-star snub?
“Hey! My client was snubbed! 50 Million extra! Guaranteed! Or we walk!”
February 10th, 2012 at 4:38 PM
His Basketball Reference page had him as part of the deal where he was on the Bucks for two months during the 2009 offseason.

Yeah.. he never put on a Bucks uniform though.. practice or otherwise. They got him to flip him for someone else (delfino.. .who’s actually halfway decent.. for a Buck)
February 10th, 2012 at 4:39 PM
TBL loves trashing the Bucks. I consider this a good sign. Bucks are gonna get hot.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:41 PM
LOFT
when I start doing shit like that the best way I have found to fix it is slow your swing down as much as possible and swing through the ball. sounds like you may be trying to kill it and probably dropping your shoulder or doing something where you are losing all your form.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:41 PM
Trading for a malcontent like Stephen Jackson was bound to blow up in their face.
unless you’re golden state, circa 2007.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:41 PM
Oh, and is this the time where I point out that Brandon Jennings should be a senior in college? I mean, maybe, just MAYBE, he can improve…no? Ok.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:42 PM

I believe “shitshow” is the correct nomenclature

is your weenus hanging out? tuck it back it, and welcome to low 90′s country!
February 10th, 2012 at 4:44 PM
where’s the post on why the bucks should swap out the red in their unis for orange? I’m tired of getting jingle bells stuck in my head every time I watch them play a home game. Red and Green are better than purple, but come on.

February 10th, 2012 at 4:50 PM
No doubt, he could end up a very good consistent all-star PG. But let’s not act like his free agency that is 17 months away deserves its own post, or that Jennings himself should be saying a single fucking thing about leaving the Bucks.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:50 PM
Young Jason is, first and foremost, a star-fucker (see: obsession with ratings). I presume that, because Jennings has “star power’ (lol) this is why he thinks he’s worth giving a crap about and overrated the living shit out of.
That and he probably has sick handles that remind TBL of this one-time he crossed a dude up in pickup hoops but blew the layup in front of 10 fans, one of whom happened to be an editor for the school newspaper.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:51 PM
This line did not go unnoticed. Well played.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:52 PM
I really want to squirt ketchup all over one of Larry Harris’ nice suits and then just punch that cocksucker in the fucking face. Multiple time.
Also, FUCK George Karl.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:54 PM
Well, yeah, we can all agree on that…and I echo what Skiles said. This isn’t an issue at all. These are his options within the system. He can do what he wants and say what he wants about it.
February 10th, 2012 at 5:04 PM
could be a number of things…but my best guess is you’re not rotating as much with your legs and hips.
try this drill next time you’re at the range with a wedge…feet almost together, ball position in the middle of your back foot and you want to feel like 75% of your weight is on your front foot at address. take the club back halfway til your wrists hinge, but no farther and hold it.
then get used to holding that hinge in your wrists and letting your hips unwinding bring the club back to square. if you’re hitting it fat, the low point in your swing is behind the ball, rather than in front, which, like you said, is manageable with woods and hybrids thanks to their soles. wiht this drill, you really want to feel your hips leading the swing…you might hit a few bad ones at first, but keep at it and you’ll stop chunking it.
with wedges and irons, i don’t focus on the ball, rather, focus on a spot two or three inches in front (farther in front of the ball the shorter the club). if your clubface is aimed at that imaginary point, you’ll hit ball first and your divot will be right down the target line since your low point is now in front.
just a couple ideas.
February 10th, 2012 at 5:09 PM
Wow, spence. Thanks.
February 10th, 2012 at 5:13 PM
Jennings is never going to do shit until they get rick of Frank Hamblen.
*Michael Redd is from tOSU and that makes him ineligible to be better than Jennings.
February 10th, 2012 at 5:14 PM
np brother…i know your pain. id much rather blade a shot thin than lay the dirt over top, hitting it fat. insanely frustrating.
February 10th, 2012 at 5:16 PM
If you’re missing the ball that badly you’re likely swaying. You need to get quiet over the ball. Quick swaying your hips back like a pansy. Rotate that body and keep you’re head still and eyes on the back of the ball.
February 10th, 2012 at 5:25 PM
scripty…agreed, but you gotta know which eye is dominant and look down that one. jack and greg norman were left eye dominant even tho they were right handed, explains why theyd be more inclined to sweeep while trevino, a classic digger, was right eye dominant. kinda interesting.
