Peyton Manning is Working Out with the Duke Football Team
Insert your own Peyton Manning-is-at-an-ACC-level jokes here:
After a tweet from a Duke football player Wednesday, NBC-17 has confirmed that NFL quarterback Peyton Manning is in the Triangle working out with the Duke football team.
Matt Skura, a center for the Blue Devils, tweeted: “Got to stretch next to Peyton Manning today and say hello.”
NBC-17 has confirmed that Manning is working out with Duke’s football team. Current Duke Head Coach David Cutcliffe was Manning’s offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee in the 1990s and remains a close family friend.
So, how long will it take for Jim Irsay to tweet out something in response to this report? Can the Colts just cut Peyton so that the Ravens, 49ers, Cardinals and everyone else can start courting the Hall of Famer? [NBC 17 via Weather Wes]

This is unfortunate. You’d think he’d be smarter than this and work out with the Carolina team. Starting to wonder if he’s losing it upstairs.

Peyton Manning is at an ACC level!
Nailed it.

I’m confused…so Duke is picking up that $28 million bonus he’s due in a few weeks?
February 9th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
How exclusive of him, true american heros work out at the local high school in their wranglers.
February 9th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Oh that Coach K, he’s a clever one!

So does this mean Peyton will now to to an undeserved BCS Bowl, or what, you guys!!?

good for Manning, and good for football in general. Somebody is going to win a serious prize here (and it’s probably going to be Peyton Manning). Woe is the team that signs him to an incentive laden contract. He’ll throw 9 touchdowns against terrible teams.
February 9th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
I don’t get it.
February 9th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
I don’t understand. If it’s incentive laden, he only gets paid if he performs well, right?

At least he is not working out at some strip mall next to a chinese take-out place, like Daunte Culpepper.

Everyone realizes he’s working out with Duke because of Cutcliffe, right?

Eli would work out with the children at Disney World.
February 9th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
I don’t think working out with a one back spread team would be beneficial to him in any way.

Almost everyone.

he’ll hit those incentives easily by running up the score against the worst teams.
February 9th, 2012 at 9:59 AM
this clearly means he’s heading to the Seattle Seahawks

I feel bad for Cutcliffe. Ole Miss hired him to get Eli. Then when he left, they fired him. Of course, Karma has taken care of the rest.

so I guess I”d like to transfer my woe to the crappy teams on whatever schedule he ends up with, as opposed to the team who signs him.

shhhh…let’s not spoil the fun with facts, mmkay?

Not one person wondering why he’s at Duke and not, oh I don’t know, University of Tennessee (his alma mater)??

Manning is NOT going to the 49ers. Sooner or later, you have to realize this.

I like the Chiefs idea. I know Brawny Tom would be beating that Seahawks drum.
February 9th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
cause there’s been so much turnover at Tennessee in the last 15 years that there are no coaches or administrators left that he knows…except for Pat Summitt.
February 9th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
Lately, Tennessee is where quarterbacks go to die.
At least, the ones who don’t go to LSU.
February 9th, 2012 at 10:25 AM
Huh? Cutcliffe was his QB coach at Tennessee.

One team I’m surprised not to hear more of is Seattle. They have Beast Mode at RB, a decent defense, rejuvenated Mike Williams, Sidney Rice and Golden Tate at WR. More importantly, there’s no QB controversy there if he goes. What, Chuck Whitehurst and Tarvaris Jackson are going to stand in Manning’s way?
Paul Allen has the money in his other back pocket to pay Manning if he wants. And, as we all know, the NFC West can be grabbed by any team. So why not the Seahawks?
February 9th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
This is true. Alex was caddying for Coach Harbaugh at the Giants/Niners tourney the other day. Dude isn’t going anywhere.

There is a shitload of stupid going on in here. Let alone not reading the post.
GET ME PEYTON!!!

San Francisco makes more sense than Seattle, because their climates are so different.
