Eli Manning — luckiest dude in world history.
I loathe the Patriots and they had no business even playing in that game, but Jesus if Eli doesn’t have a horseshoe permanently lodged up his ass
The dropped Samuel pick. Tyree. Two Giants fumbles that they didn’t lose. The Hernandez drop. Manningham’s catch. No review on Branch’s catch. 12 men on the field benefiting NY. It never ends with that guy.

It’s a silly morning to try hating on Eli Manning. And especially to bring up shit from 4 years ago to do it.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
Ahhh…..The week is off to the rousing start with a Duke loss. Went to the MD-UNC game in College Park this weekend, I think the Refs swallowed their whistles for most of the game. UNC-Duke game on Wednesday is gonna be a track meet.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
But just to be clear, Eli Manning is lucky because Aaron Hernandez dropped a pass? Is Eli also lucky that the Pats secondary is terrible?

How damaging was the Super Bowl loss to the legacy of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick?
Three titles. Supermodel wife. Tons of cash. Don’t think he is too concerned about that question. This is one reason why the question of “legacy” is woefully inadequate. His results speak. The rest is coffeehouse crap.
Went to a SB party at a friend’s house. Bad mix of guests. Mostly married ladies who didn’t know football (one asked, “what’s offsides?”). And, one lady was someone I dated briefly. They cackled incessantly throughout the game. Jeepers, what was I thinking? Glad I had an errand, so I could leave early.
Also, I recorded the Puppy Bowl, so no spoilers! (Looking at you, SG.)
February 6th, 2012 at 8:28 AM
Yeah, Jason, I think Eli is a pretty lucky QB. He’s the Roethlisberger of the NFC — rides a good defense and running attack to some big wins.
There’s just an overriding luck factor I can’t shake that sort of leaves him in the second tier to me. His receivers ALWAYS make the big catches. The balls ALWAYS bounce the Giants’ way. Every good QB needs a little bit of luck, without question, but Eli seems to get it in spades.
I will say he was excellent in getting the Giants there, though, especially on the road against GB.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:29 AM
Congrats, StabbinKabin
Yepper, he nailed it. Good on ya, PL.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:30 AM
I understand but don’t agree with the complaints about Eli getting the MVP over Tuck (again). We all tire of the quarterback hype, but he was really, really good. Much more deserving than in SB42.
Also, fuck him right in his ear.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:30 AM
Wow, the Roundup started with a real whimper today.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:31 AM
Really? I thought that was a foul fest. Guys had four fouls with eight and change left in the game.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:31 AM
People need to stop equating being the losing teamin the Superbowl with being the league’s worst team, or whatever approximation has people’s legacies being tarnished by some bullshit.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:31 AM
Lesser of two evils won. On a side note, one of the most well officiated football games in a while.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:32 AM
I agree with you that the Giants luck (particularly fumble luck) has been incredible in these two runs… but… “good defense and running attack”? The Giants are awful running the ball and that defense has some strengths… but a ton of weaknesses too.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:32 AM
Sportsdork apparently didn’t watch the same Super Bowl as queefer Sutherland. Apparently, you see what you’re willing to see.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:33 AM
Thats enough reason for me to storm out.
I came to the conclusion that I don’t like company over for football. Even if they know the game, there is too much conversation going on and its impossible to give 100 percent attention to the game.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:35 AM
The Giants have a good running game when Bradshaw and Jacobs are healthy. They shredded the Packers and Falcons and only slowed down against that fantastic 49ers D. And the Giants’ front four is redonkulous, which is all that matters in today’s NFL.
Its not a coincidence that the Giants won two Super Bowls with insane D-lines.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:36 AM
Agreed. I don’t remember much of last year’s superbowl, which I watched at a SB party, but stayed home this year and will remember everything. One thing is for sure: you don’t come away feeling like you just saw the clearly two best teams playing for the title. The NFL is wide open at the present time, which is good for the fans, IMO. Outside of the Broncos, Lions, and Falcons, I think every team that made the playoffs this year could have just as easily won it all as the Giants.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:36 AM
So, any luck locating that Cult mashup from last night?

I can agree with this even though Eli played a hell of a game yesterday. It just makes me sick having to see another Giants championship. Four of them since I’ve been alive. None for the Eagles in 52 years.

We get it. You’re old. No need to hit us over the head with it, Pops.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:38 AM
Yeah it was like that here when the Steelers lost last year. People acting like the sky is falling after actually making to the Super Bowl. So the other 30 teams that didn’t make it are the absolute worst as well?
February 6th, 2012 at 8:38 AM
Texans, it gets even worse. Two older guys were there – one was a loudmouth know-it-all, and the other went got out his smartphone and went through some SB-related online quiz contest (how many floors are in the Empire State Building, anyway?).
Open question for the day – next year, when I am invited to a SB party, is it poor form to ask who else is attending?
I’m like you, Texans. I’d rather be alone watching the game, instead of at a SB party where the game is background noise for inane convversation.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:38 AM
Made me laugh
February 6th, 2012 at 8:39 AM
Yeah, this would be nice.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:39 AM
Eli played great, but is he lucky? I would have to say he’s been one of the luckiest QBs in Super Bowl history.
People rag on Peyton for beating up on a Grossman-led team. That’s nothing compared to Eli winning two Super Bowls against a post-Spy Gate Brady/Belichick. Those guys are in the business of giving away playoff games, and Eli has benefited twice now. Good for him.

February 6th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
Thanks. I mean, I know the two songs in the mash-up, but there was no locating it on Google last night. Guessing it’ll show up on iTunes today.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
but you think Flacco is good, so that puts everything in its proper context. Eli out Brady’d Brady with the short throws throughout the game, and when it was time to make the big throws, Eli made the championship ones, and Brady didn’t. For everyone to put the blame on Welker for that drop is ridiculous.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:44 AM
It’s obvious I am in the minority here but I am big Eli fan. Plays well at the end of games, 3 more good years (likely) puts him top 12+ in career yardage. 2 Super Bowls. If his name was Eli Jones I think more people would realize his greatness.
So Eliwinning Super Bowls with luck is somebow different than Brady getting lucky play for NE, vs. being drafted bythe Browns or Bills? God people just pull any retarded bullshit to hate on Eli.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
If Welker didn’t have to fully turn around and jump into the air…
February 6th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
Was on campus at Ohio State yesterday and saw a ragtag group new recruits outside of the ROTC building, being instructed in the fine art of standing at attention. Took a couple of pics for friends who are grads of the program. Reminded me of Stripes.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
And here I was thinking I was complimenting Eli.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
It was a foul fest if the Refs had been calling early on. Lots of body banging in the key and they weren’t calling it. UMD was hitting 3′s early in the game and went cold in the 2nd, cost them the win.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
Yeah, Tommy had more to do with that than Welker. That INT when he underthrew Gronk was also very costly. Brady wasn’t perfect in a game where it ended up that he needed to be pretty much perfect for his team to win. He’s no longer in the Montana tier, but being just below that still ain’t bad.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
So, anyone mention Vince Wilfork being held on 90% of the passing downs?

February 6th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
PIT was 23rd in rushing the last time they won the SB (2008), and 11th last year when they lost to GB.
Phil Rivers is waiting for some of this “luck” to rub off on him. He now has to look at both Ben and Eli with multiple rings.

February 6th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
Three teams have gone into Lambeau and won. Eli Manning has quarterbacked two of them.
He’s gone to and won two Super Bowls being forced to win five games on the road and two neutral site games against Tom Brady.
Cut him some slack, for God’s sake. He’s not Trent Dilfer.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
This is the saddest hearty laugh you’ll have today
February 6th, 2012 at 8:48 AM
HE HAD IT IN BOTH OF HIS HANDS!!!!
February 6th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
I’ll agree with this. That throw was high and behind him. It was a poor loss. Brady was the better QB yesterday, but his biggest mistake was that chuck down the field to Gronk. No need for that risk, there. He did the same thing against the Ravens and was lucky to win that game.
Both teams were more lucky than good this year (Pats with the weak schedule, first-round Denver opponent, and then Evans’ drop; Giants with weak division, Atlanta at home, all the breaks yesterday), but I think the Giants were better overall.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
I remember the yellow stripes at MCRD San Diego. Some guys started crying like a baby and wanted out immediately. Others failed the initial drug test and were still there by the time I graduated. The fastest way out of that place was to graduate.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
A lot of retarded shit out here today. People just won’t admit some guy’s played great when it mattered, and think of some bullshit excuse because they are blinded by hate.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
Eli Manning has become Terry Bradshaw–with respect to turning Tom Brady into Roger Staubach.
And as you suggested, being another Roger Staubach ain’t bad.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
I think everyone incorrectly utilizes the term “luck” so frequently now because it’s difficult to accept that a team that looked so average all season long is now “the best”.
The modern NFL. It ain’t changing.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Guessing it’ll show up on iTunes today.
Ha. That isn’t always the case (I try to find a lot of songs from Ads and Movie Trailers, etc). Sometimes the AdTunes will get you the creative director for the ad, etc and you can tweet them, etc. Put in a roundup if you ever are able to get that mix downloaded.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Also, how much money did the guy who hit that “safety is first score” bet end up losing for the entire Super Bowl? If he’s dropping a grand on shit like that, he’s not a profitable gambler.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Eli made the leap this season. Time to recognize.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Both 12 men on the field plays had a huge impact.

That was a punt. 8 yard line..
February 6th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
Hey Brady, PUT THAT COFFEE DOWN!
February 6th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
Not trying to pick on you, but that was a physical mistake (he underthrew it), not a mental one.
The Patriots tight ends covered one on one by Chase Blackburn is a matchup you are willing to work with every time. And Hernandez (or was it Gronk? I don’t remember) had like 5 steps on him when the ball was released.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
was there football on last night? i was watching tin cup.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
Titans >> Patriots
cause, you know, the Titans didn’t embarass themselves by barely losing the Super Bowl last night.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Not to mention the defense that carries Ben to Super Bowl’s blew the lead and let Arizona score 16 unanswered points. While Ben had to go 85 yards in the last 3 minutes to win it all.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
That’s why college football needs a playoff system!
/ducks
February 6th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
I’d say Brady is still in Montana’s class — 3 rings, 5 SBs, played well in all of them.
I think Bradshaw is essentially Dilfer, and Manning is better than him, so that comparison is probably a little off as well.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:55 AM
I cant believe that with a safety, the final score was still a normal 21-17. At least my square won the 3rd quarter with the 7 and the 5. $200, yay.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:55 AM

Helmed the first 9 win team to win the Super Bowl, so you could say he’s in a league of his own.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:56 AM
People who say that a 2x Super Bowl winner, 2x Super Bowl MVP is “lucky” are basically saying that winning in the NFL is simply a game of chance, which is total and utter bullshit. Congrats to the Giants and to Eli, he outplayed Brady and the Pats, plain and simple. Eli now holds the NFL record for most 5 road playoff wins. Dude is a total gamer.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:57 AM
Some quarterback has to be the luckiest quarterback, right?
First of all, you have to be pretty lucky to win just one SB.
Going a step further, would it take some luck to win 2 Super Bowls without winning your division? 2 Super Bowls where you only win 10 and 9 games in the regular season?
I think you can say both Eli has been lucky as fuck and that he’s a great QB. They’re not mutually exclusive.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
Congrats to the Giants. They made the plays, the Pats didn’t. Another TD on the drive when Brady threw the pick or a completion to Welker or Branch on their second to last drive and they win. The margin was that close.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
I have friends who are Cowboys fans that insist that Tony Romo is better than Eli. “Eli has the better supporting cast is all.”
I hate Cowboyfan.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
Coughlin > Parcells
discuss amongst yourselves
February 6th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
It was a mistake. He heaved the ball 40 yards down the field for no reason.
Manning throws off his back foot under pressure and Manningham catches it for a 50 yard gain. Brady does the same thing and its intercepted by a 300-pound linebacker making the play of his life. That’s the kinda thing I mean when I talk about luck.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Bradshaw was Dilfer in the first Super Bowl. Swann bailed him out in the second. He won the last two with his performance on the field, especially his last one.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
That’s fair.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
i wish they would.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Hard to deny this. He does.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
if it wasn’t chance the super bowl would have been between the two #1 seeds in the playoffs.
props to the giants and eli for playing a perfect game, they got the ball to bounce there way every time and it’s really tough to even be in a close game when that happens.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Who’s better Eli or Ben?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
I just want to know why I have to grin and take it from this bitch coming over to my desk to rub it in my face when she has been a proud Redskins fan for 3 years, who decided to throw on her boyfriend’s Giants jersey for the playoffs. Want. To. Murder.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
That was a punt. 8 yard line..
but on first and ten, and from approximately mid field. It was an awful outcome on a relatively low risk shot, honestly. Chase Blackburn out athleticked somebody? Freakish.

/gets my popcorn ready
February 6th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
I would agree with this statement as a generality, but I think Eli is more “very good” than “great.” Semantics, sure, but breat QBs don’t lead the league in INTs and rack up all of nine wins in the worst division in football in SB years.
Guys like Brady, Rogers, Brees, and Peyton do more with less than Eli. That’s the difference to me.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
The reason was Chase Blackburn was trying to run down the field after one of their tight ends, and he was failing. Brady just missed the throw.
The Hernandez touchdown was the funniest play of the game, watching him nearly get Blackburn to fall down with a stutter step. I can’t believe how many 3 linebacker sets the Giants played and the Patriots still struggled on offense. Not Brady’s finest hour, for sure.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
He has a better G.M..
February 6th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
So the Jets v Giants next year? Hahaha
February 6th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
And that’s the only difference between Romo and Eli?
You wouldn’t have traded Dez, Austin, Witten for Hicks, Cruz, and Manningham before this past season.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
Eli, no doubt.
CJ – is that same woman with the bad smell down there? If so, you have our permission to slap her.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Sucks for you, doesn’t it?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
That was a 1st and 10 play. Stupid throw on his part. Like someone said earlier, he tried it in the BAL game, got picked and got away with the win. Not so lucky last nite. Thought he’d be smarter with the ball there, start of the 4th, you got a decent drive, and you’re up by 2. You think your DEF was gonna hold Eli the rest of the game? Had to go down and get some points.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
I tried to listen to the commentary after the interception, but through all of the complimentary things they said about Chase Blackburn during the play…..Brady drastically underthrew that ball, and I don’t believe that was ever mentioned during the telecast.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Are you familiar with the Falcon Punch?

February 6th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
ask her who shes rooting for when the Giants play the Redskins next year
February 6th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Tough call. Eli led the league in INTs in 2007, and Ben won his first SB with a 36 QB rating. Both guys benefit tremendously from an outstanding supporting cast.
As much as it pains me to say this, Ben’s better over the course of his career in a very good division.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Not at all. No.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
If I was picking between the two of them?
Probably Ben.
Actually, asking me that questions is like asking me which hand I would like to intentionally smack with a hammer.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Shitty game and commercials.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:06 AM
Good question that I’m not real sure of yet. But is being the 4th best QB instead of the 5th really that big of deal?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:06 AM
Nah, different girl, still as hefty.
She’s also a Mets fan, I guess until she starts dating a Yankees fan.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
No, but I would’ve swapped the most important parts (Front Office, OL, DL, DBs) with NY in a fucking nanosecond.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
I must have said this a million times, but the Pats were overrated this season: they didn’t win a single game against a team with a winning record. Zero. Their record against teams that ended with a winning record? 0-2 (vs. Steelers and Giants). So basically, their 13-3 record included 13 wins against teams that were .500. THAT is why the playoffs matter. If anything, the Patriots were “lucky” to be a #1 seed. Thank god we don’t leave it to “chance” and play it out on the field.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
the guy that sits in the cube next to me is a big Gaytor fan. he made the mistake one day of telling me he grew up a Florida State fan and switched to UF when they won their first championship under Meyer. whenever he starts ragging on me when UF beats Tennessee, I remind him he’s a turncoat. you should remind your coworker of this as well.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
Betty White’s halftime performance wasn’t that great either.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
Pretty much, this.
If the Pats recover one of those two fumbles, the outcome could have been different.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
ben.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
We’re talking about who’s better at raping women and getting away with it, right?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
oh, i thought we were talking about golf.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
Betty White’s halftime performance wasn’t that great either.
she really did look like a grandmother in the face. And somebody I have never, ever, ever heard of shot me the finger.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
I can’t say I’ve ever seen intentional grounding called like it was for that safety. That play may have met the standard for intentional grounding according to the rules, but how often is it ever called?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
Then why bring it up? Because you made an ignorant comment comparing Terry Bradshaw to Trent Dilfer?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
sounds like a guy I “know.” you should start calling her “SouvenirClitty.”
February 6th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
holy shit…173k people showed up to scottsdale this weekend.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
Betty White’s halftime performance wasn’t that great either.
Hahaha.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
The name………….is Dalton
/I will never not watch Roadhouse if it is on
February 6th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
They both suck. All hail fat boy Stafford. Would’ve been a much more exciting game with dough boy throwing it up to Calvin.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
Betty White. Glue factory. Now
February 6th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
If the Pats recover one of those two fumbles, the outcome could have been different.
if the refs don’t make that (correct) grounding call, it’s a different game. It was correct, but that call was zany. They never call grounding for that.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
I think last night was the first in the history of the league. Not sure how they didn’t, I dunno, stay consistent with how they’ve called it for 20 years.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
The thing that stood out for me yesterday was just how horrible the Pats DBs are. The Giants receivers will make a lot of DBs look bad, but still.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
Yeah, I should reiterate that while the Giants were crazy lucky in that game, the Pats were just as lucky to be there. Their schedule was a joke, they got the worst playoff team of all time at home after a bye for the divisional, then needed Lee Evans to drop a perfectly thrown TD pass that is caught 99.9999999 percent of the time + epic Cundiff shankjob to even advance. Those are star-aligning breaks.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
I know Pats fans will be pissed and Giants fans thrilled, so taking them out of the equation, did anyone else think the game was a bit…boring? Sure, the last 1/2 of the 4th was good, but the rest seemed rather ho-hum.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
Weird thing is, that’s the second Super Bowl that ended with a 21-17 score, and both of them had a safety.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
To watch Figjam and Figjam Jr. suck all kinds of ass.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
You seem to have missed the point of my initial post. Or maybe you didn’t. Are you one of those Cowboy fans that thinks Romo > Eli?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Eli has nothing to prove to anyone about luck, dude is a great QB. I wouldn’t even say luck, just some plays didn’t go the Pats way. The first fumble was negated by 12 men on the field, that’s NE’s fault. The other two bounced right to the Giants.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Watched it this weekend. Fuck yea Kelly Lynch and Julie Michaels.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
You wanted to behead the bastard all of last season until like Week 17..
February 6th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
She’s old and sassy. We all get it.
Now, please, stop it with Betty White.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
Yeah, I should reiterate that while the Giants were crazy lucky in that game, the Pats were just as lucky to be there.
everything that happens to everyone is just luck. Now I finally get it.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
I’d like to think this would lead to the end of the Super Bowl halftime show, but alas it won’t. Thanks to Janet Jackson’s nipple any attention seeking “talent” knows how to guarantee themselves media coverage.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:14 AM
Sucked. Fucking sucked.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:14 AM
Before 2011, I would’ve said yes. Right now, I think they’re equal. It’s impossible to put QBs in a vacuum for comparison, though.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:14 AM
I didn’t make the Bradshaw-Dilfer comparison.
Brees plays in a prolific offense. Just as Fouts did. Brees caught some breaks one year, unlike Fouts. I know you have Brees’ balls affixed to your chin 24-7, but Brees is a modern day Fouts.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
+1 LOL
February 6th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
Hey, BaseballHQ’s website had a big makeover. Spending some of that USAToday money, apparently.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
As a hater of both the Cowboys and Giants, I would take every crucial part of the Giants over the Cowboys except for TE & RB. And we need to start recognizing Weatherford for being the true MVP of last night. Every punt he had pinned the Pats deep.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
Yes, great ending but the game was okayish. Kansas/Missouri was much more fun on Saturday night.
/college basketball mode
February 6th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
Both teams seemed to be playing defense to protect against the big play. Both Manning and Brady had impressive completion streaks, but the underneath stuff was open all game. Kinda became a tennis match.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:16 AM
Very weird indeed. Couldnt you make the case he was expecting on of the WR to turn towards the middle? On such a long pass, if the WR goes a different way then is expected, yeah it’s gonna look bad. I didnt get the feeling he was trying to throw it away, he was trying to make a play.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:16 AM
If a rule can be used to help the Giants, it will usually be called. Like with Cruz’s fumble against Arizona. Or the hastily made forward progress call against the Niners.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:16 AM
There’s really no point in talking to a Cowboys fan, whether in person or on the internet. Tony f’ing Romo? Really?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:16 AM
He’s still fat, but he can chuck it. Hey, I gotta hear on the radio about the fucking Lions all the damn time. Lets draft a RB in the 1st round dur dur. I hate people. The defense sucks dick.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
Yes, and no team is ever just BETTER than another team. Never happens.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
I’m not really sure what constitutes an “exciting” game anymore other than a lot of offense. I’m happy watching a competitive game. I don’t want to see a bunch of carbon copy games where the offenses run all over the defenses all day and there’s rarely any punting (a.k.a. field position strategery). I thought the game was very compelling…real emotion was obvious too. when Brady threw that INT and was sitting on the field and when Welker stone-handed that ball in the 4th quarter, they both had weight-of-the-world gut reactions.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
When did the middle finger happen? I missed it.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
I really wanted to hate Eli Manning when he came into the league for being one of those assholes that will be paid a truck load of cash to play a sport for a living, yet still whines about where he gets to earn that insane pay. However, the guy won me over. He’s good. He’s really good and he wins big games. I don’t like the Giants but he has earned respect. Lucky? That’s just really blind hatred if you think he’s lucky to win.
Tuck rule…that’s lucky/
February 6th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
Dude absolutely nailed 2011 and nobody notices. It’s a shame. Dallas is a 2-win team in 2011 without him.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
There’s really no point in talking to a Cowboys fan, whether in person or on the internet. Tony f’ing Romo? Really?
I poked something over and over again with a stick, and now it’s bothering me. It’s the problem.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
Pats fans knew this team wasn’t spectacular. Defense was patchwork and while I think Belichick did great work in this game, when it came down to that last drive it finally became apparent to the Giants that their outside cornerbacks were (some guys named) Sterling Moore and Antuan Moldin. Brady never had a good outside receiver (imagine if he had a player like Nicks) and made it work with 2 TEs and little Welker.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
I’m already making plans to go next year. Have a buddy that lives in Phoenix who is going to hook it up.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
Vlad is spot on. Lions could well take a step backwards and not make the playoffs next season because the defence is so awful. Can’t believe Gunther hasn’t been fired
February 6th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
SURELY YOU JEST. JON FUCKING KITNA WINS 8 GAMES WITH THAT TEAM.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
The real MVP from last night was Aberdeen from the Puppy Bowl. Dude was on fire.
/didn’t watch the game
//seriously
///fuck the Giants
////still very, very bitter
February 6th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
This. I don’t give one fuck about the Giants or Cowboys, but Romo is a damn good QB whose defense hung him out to dry. Saying that he and Eli are about equal is in no way a crazy statement.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
Sorta like Spencer Levin on Sunday. God what a whiny bitch spaz. Complete meltdown.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
i’m not quite sure what you’re trying to argue, but if you think chance has no part in football you are sorely mistaken.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:21 AM

I agree. Despite all of their draft choices, and genius monikers, they have a hard time getting players at need positions, due to a stubborn refusal to draft players at those positions. They think it’s cooler to trade down and seem smart.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
Just curious- is it lucky when it’s called for other teams? Such as, for the Jets and against the Pats in that very same season?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
Jon Fucking Kitna is in a body bag by week 3 because of that OL.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
The Bradshaw touchdown alone was so freaking weird. He scores a touchdown to take the lead in the Super Bowl with a minute left… and he’s upset. His whole team is upset. Unreal.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
yup. Still lucky
February 6th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
This. I don’t give one fuck about the Giants or Cowboys, but Romo is a damn good QB whose defense hung him out to dry. Saying that he and Eli are about equal is in no way a crazy statement.
dallas has a lot of problems, but they’re set at QB. Now let’s all STFU about Dallas for a while. We can talk about the game that happened yesterday, or about how come ladies won’t do sex to us.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
They all had the 8-7 square
February 6th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Fumbles lit it up in the first half. Took advantage from the illegal use of paws penalty early in the game.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
I think their “get undervalued guys” doesn’t work as much at those positions and it ends up hurting them when those guys can’t be spectacular. Maybe picking up Dillon and Moss had them thinking they can get them other ways. Will be interesting to see the moves they make this offseason.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
Breesus is gonna yell at us.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
FWIW, that Eric Wilbur who wrote that awful column in the last post is claiming the whole thing was satire. So there’s that.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
Of course Super Bowl champions are lucky! Whether it was in week 4 or in the Super Bowl.
Aaron Rodgers is possibly a shitty Michael Vick pass or a Jay Cutler “injury” away from having no Super Bowls. Why don’t people give him the shit they give Eli? Besides one commenter, of course?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
I liked the kitty halftime show. Good hustle.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
If Career High is out there, I did get the Wild Boar Ragu at Symon’s restaurant this weekend. But the raw marlin tartare appetizer stole the show.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
I didnt get the feeling he was trying to throw it away, he was trying to make a play.
Come on… you could say that about just about any grounding call if that’s the case… the ball didn’t land within 25 yards of anyone. I was at a party where the crowd was pretty evenly split pats/giants fans, and everyone agreed that was grounding. He was still in the pocket, no receiver within a mile of the ball. Grounding.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
Breesus is gonna yell at us.
/indubitably

////i’m not sure
/////we should really reference pro bowl LT Bushrod
February 6th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
When did that happen?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
forget what hole it was but trying a low hook from a downhill lie with a mound and bunker in front of you is stupid. when he hit that bank, i was pissed that he could be so stupid. then he missed a 3 footer for bogey and i was even more pissed that he could be so stupid.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
Get out of here with all that science!
February 6th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
the one that was utterly paralyzed with fear and ready to let the confetti smother it was both depressing and hilarious to watch.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
Honestly, I thought the referees did a fantastic job last night… stayed out of the game for the most part… the only questionable call was that PI call… which at first looked bad… but on the replay it showed it was bang bang, and while he had his arm on him, he didn’t really move him.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
When he hit that bank, I lolled my ass off. I also lolled like hell when Levin fucking putted from the brambles then dunked it.
Golf is such a great exercise for schadenfreude.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
New England needs some actual receivers that can go deep. The dink and dunk is all good, but without a healthy Gronk there was nobody on the Pats that could stretch the defense. Could definitely see them make a move for DeSean if the Eagles don’t retain him.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
I was really hoping to see a dog take a shit on the field. No luck.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
/Eric Wilbur
February 6th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
If I can armchair QB for a second. Pats ran it on first down too much down the stretch. It was predictable and put them in 2nd and 3rd and longs. Other than that I think they did an okay job with Gronk being hobbled, until the last couple drives.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
Spygate? Yeah, you’re objective. That call was bush league.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
And Vlad’s Jihad against Stafford continues. Nice.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
you know who I feel bad for with a putter in his hand? Dustin Johnson.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
/Eric Wilbur
Oh come on now… I’m not blaming Brady for the loss… he played fine. But that was grounding.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
The “should they sign DeSean long-term” question is really complicated, but if they don’t (and they don’t tag him)… that will be a really interesting market. Such a flawed but game-changing player.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
Hubby and I agreed it was grounding too. I was just trying to make a counter point.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
Natalie Gulbis agrees
February 6th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
reggie wayne possibly, good relationship with belichick
they really need Ridley or Vereen to be the kind of 3 down back to take pressure off the passing game. supplementing with lawfirm is OK, but i’d say a feature back is more important than a WR at this point.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
you know who I feel bad for with a putter in his hand? Dustin Johnson.
I never feel bad for this talent-wasting flake. He’s now The Scarecrow to me.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
It was grounding. Just because it was a deep pass doesn’t mean he wasn’t trying to get rid of it in the face of a rush.
Agree with the refs comment, too. Great job.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
Or the could have activated Kevin FREAKING Faulk
February 6th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
absolutely…spencer levin really let /team spencer down big time.
he could always, you know, practice.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
The “should they sign DeSean long-term” question is really complicated, but if they don’t (and they don’t tag him)… that will be a really interesting market. Such a flawed but game-changing player.
I think once they give him the tag, and he’s able to briefly clear all his Rosenhaus’ debt, he may end up being a little more mature. Because he’s in the hole several million right now, from what I understand. (and by that I mean I just made up a nebulous amount that seems plausible)
February 6th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
I’d like to add that Mrs. Tisdale looks fantastic in that picture.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
Or maybe the Pats could play a legit schedule. And be exposed as the fraud they truly are.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
Exactly. A local radio guy used the word “plodding” to describe the game, and I think that fits perfectly. It was close, therefore it was compelling, but it seemed almost like the teams were sleeping through long stretches.I think the long drives that stalled at the opponents’ 45-yd line had something to do with it. It ate up clock and didn’t produce anything. I mean, Brady went 16-16 w/ 2 TDs at one point but it seemed like a lackluster stat line, even though it’s an absurd one.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
Or the could have activated Kevin FREAKING Faulk
fucking Ocho Stinko.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
I found the game to be mostly boring with a few minutes of interesting plays.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Agreed…do you franchise DeSean at a cap busting hit of $16+ million, try to sign him with his injury history with enough flexability so that you can do contract negotiations with the players that need new deals (Shady, Maclin) or do you let him walk and try to grab someone like Kendall Wright in the draft or someone in FA?
kaiser – Pats couldn’t go wrong with either a feature back or a stretch the defense WR. But getting better secondary should bet the Pats main concern.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Anybody here playo piano? I got to see a virtuoso on Saturday. Insane.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
aside from blitz pickups, I don’t think he would have been any better than woodhead and lawfirm situational plays.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
I just thought that bit I quoted seemed like it was pulled straight from Stephen CoRM’s post this morning.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
If the Pats had activated the 35 year old 4th string RB, it would have been a different game.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:36 AM

February 6th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
I found the game to be mostly boring with a few minutes of interesting plays.
My TV feed was janked, and I couldn’t record, rewind, or pause. And I live in a house with 2 tiny, bitchy people and one regular sized person who hates the way I watch football. And I can’t stand either team that was playing.
It wasn’t exactly my favorite game ever.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
Do it. And never forget it (at least what you remember from it).
Signed,
A 4 time veteran of the Phoenix Open
And props to Kyle Stanley for just shitting on the bad play from last week to go low and win a title.
And props to me too, for having Stanley and Crane on my fantasy team. It was a good week.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Who gives a shit about DeSean Jackson? The Lions gotta sign Calvin long term. Anyone have any idea how much that will cost? Lions are fucked.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
absolutely…spencer levin really let /team spencer down big time.
love that he doesn’t give a fuck and lights up a cig every hole. thought spencer was a very appropriate name for him.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
WTF happened to Ocho Cinco this year? He wasn’t terrible last year. I dont ever remember a fall off that great without an injury
February 6th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
English please. I don’t speak or understand M3x1c@n.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
If the Pats had activated the 35 year old 4th string RB, it would have been a different game.
the way WoodHead changed it until the Giants adjusted, yes it would. Plus, being a cagey veteran, he’s good at pass blocking.
I am as dismissive as the next guy, but any Pats fan would have preferred to have that guy active, I bet.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Really? There is absolutely nothing about her that does anything for me. And that isn’t a Clooney comment. She sounds and looks dumb as a rock and not nearly good enough to take advantage of it.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
oh I’m not trying to defend him. it looks painfully obvious dude never gets on the practice green. at least I hope he doesn’t. because if he does, and he still puts that shitty, he needs to hit the putt-putt course with Happy Gilmore and call it a day.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Payaso does not mean pay asshole?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
I believe he’s still stranded on Revis Island. Doesn’t seem to have ever recovered from that.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
yeah, for years the pats secondary has been built on taking advantage of mistakes brought on by a strong pass rush, and they’ve been using that scheme all this season and super bowl. linebackers are solid, defensive line needs 1 more explosive edge rusher and unfortunately, the best shut down corners are taken in the first 10-12 picks normally so I doubt they’ll be getting one of those this draft.
would really like to see them use both 1st round picks for the edge rushers though.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Are you sure it wasn’t insaneo? Awesomeo?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
yeah. that dude LOVES the smokes doesn’t he.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
That Tiquan cat with the hair was the difference between winning and losing. Bill over thunk the room.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
The Lions gotta sign Calvin long term. Anyone have any idea how much that will cost? Lions are fucked.
based on Larry Fitzgerald, and new TV money, probably a six year, 120 million deal, with 50 million guaranteed, due in the first two seasons. And maybe also years three and four guaranteed.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
He’s been declining for about 3 years. TJ was a better WR than 85 before TJ left. 85 would catch passes, but it took a LOT of throws his way to get his catches. Amazing how some bravado and yakking to the press will make everyone forget that you are below average.
/But, yes it was precipitous fall
February 6th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Well, I don’t really expect Disney actresses to sound like a rocket scientist.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Patriots should have activated Mallett, would have been a whole different ballgame.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
On that hail mary – did Ocho even make it to the end zone? It was a haze but I only saw Hernandez and Gronk and immediately turned the channel.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
With all of the midgets on the Patriots, they would benefit from a WR the size of Andre Johnson
February 6th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
True. But, I would expect them to look better than her. Seriously, she does nothing to move the needle, at all.
/Not a Brad Clooney comment
//Kinds sounds like one though
February 6th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
He never could grasp the offense. They gave him chances early on but he had no clue what he was doing half the time. Nice that they threw him that bone in the first drive of the second half.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
Could be. If the Eagles do franchise him, that means next season both McCoy and Jackson are FA’s… both Rosenhaus clients. Nice little conflict of interest for him.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
Mallett and Hoyer > Brady
February 6th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
I would.

i have no idea. i heard “incomplete! and the gia-” before i turned the tv off and started washing dishes.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
It would be fitting if on the final play of the season when everyone else runs as fast as they can to the end zone that Ocho runs a slant route
February 6th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
Fuck that game. Jackie Treehorn treats objects like women man.

in all fairness he probably didn’t know it was the end of the game.

Must be Monday, bunch of grammar assholes up in here.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
I would rather have Shady at this point. The Eagles O-line was awesome at creating room for rushing. Also concerned about Jackson’s health.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
If I’m not mistaken that bone was their longest pass play?
February 6th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
Same. Grabbed my beer and went outside and played fetch with the dog for 30 minutes. Just realized how hungover I am. Doesn’t help that people keep coming by my office and saying “sorry”. Look people, my favorite football team lost, it’s not like a family member passed away, I’m going to be fine. Now let me pass the rest of my MOnday staring at my wall in peace.

up and in both prepositions, and as such, one of them is dangling.

It was all the firefighters effort. He’s the best ever.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
Fitting.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
More like spelling assholes. “Play” doesn’t end in an O but maybe it’s different where you’re from.

Sportsgal I hope you get penetrated by all the members of Nickelback at once, against your will. Have a nice day-o.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
yeah, i turned on sirius this morning and turned immediately from the sports talk to Lithium. Song that started right as i turned the station on: “Everybody Hurts Sometime” by REM.
couldn’t help but laugh and shake my head.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
who’d you see and where? im pretty good at piano and if i worked on technique and scales, could probably be damn good in a year.
February 6th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
That’s impossible. If there’s a dick around, pretty sure it’s her will that it be in one of her orafices.

most delusional post of the year? most delusional post of the year

I saw this guy Yefim Bronfman w/ the Orchestra. B/C he’s playing in front of the rest of the orchestra he has to be perfect so the conductor can have everybody else in step. First time I’d seen a concert there featuring a pianist.

That’s funny. I changed my alarm clock to FM before I went to bed and woke up to REM too. Bittersweet Me. “I’d sooner chew my leg off,
Than be trapped in this. How easy you think of all of this as bittersweet me. I couldn’t taste it. I’m tired and naked. I don’t know what I’m hungry for. I don’t know what I want anymore.”
Damn REM is depressing
February 6th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
any idea what he played?
and yea, concert pianists, in my opinion, symbolize absolute mastery of classic music.
rachmaninoff’s piano concerto 2 is my fav.
February 6th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
yeah, i was bummed about the game, then i heard that song (which i heard in a similar situation when my grandmother passed away a few years ago) and it put it into perspective. i do, however, get a great excuse to listen to my music all day surrounded by giants fans in the office.
February 6th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
Whoa. Just added that song to my break up playlist.

If you ever want to check out a great Ben Gazzara performance, track down Saint Jack. Or They All Laughed. Both directed by Peter Bogdanovich.

Years ago, I saw Andre Watts play. Guy was a technical marvel. Not much emotion, though, which killed it for me.
February 6th, 2012 at 10:26 AM
you just described lang lang to me…he looks emotive and plays with embellishments that make it seem like he’s emotional, but it’s all parlor tricks.
February 6th, 2012 at 10:31 AM
though i will say, this is an incredible performance.
February 6th, 2012 at 10:34 AM
Best musician I’ve ever seen was Itzhak Perlman. He might miss a note here or there, but he plays with joy.
February 6th, 2012 at 10:36 AM
oh yea…that dude is pure virtuoso. un-fucking-believable.
February 6th, 2012 at 10:40 AM
any idea what he played?
Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major,
February 6th, 2012 at 10:44 AM
great piece…and brahms’ beard was a beard to be reckoned with.
February 6th, 2012 at 10:56 AM
Yeah…that U2 performance is badass.
