Maryland’s Mark Turgeon Was Not Happy with John Henson’s Dunk at the End of the Game
UNC rallied in the second half to beat Maryland Saturday, 83-74, a victory that sends the Tar Heels into their showdown with rival Duke Wednesday on a 5-game winning streak (and 14 of 15, though none of the victories have been impressive). UNC ended the game with a thunderous – and some might say unnecessary – John Henson dunk. New Maryland coach Mark Turgeon wasn’t thrilled with the dunk:
“I didn’t like the dunk. Coach (Williams) knows that.”
To which I say: Hey Mark, quit crying. And way to give Roy Williams and UNC ammo for your Feb. 29th visit to Chapel Hill.

Do you actually watch their games or even look at the box scores?

Turgeron is an Aggie douche.

To be fair to TBL, there is a high standard for what constitutes “impressive” at Chapel Hill.

Coach, drink some water and calm your nerves. Man, way too sensitive.

I will never understand coaches getting their panties in a bunch about this stuff. Got a problem with it? Your team needs to stop them.

If he wants to be offended by such behavior, he can watch game tape Vasquez during his time at Maryland. Great player, but pulled stuff like this all the time. Don’t know if it bothered the Maryland fans as much as Henson did.

I don’t watch a lot of college basketball…but I caught the 11-0 Mizzou run against Kansas this weekend.
Do they always call charges like that in college (against Kansas)? Twice in the last 90 seconds a guy would slide under a Jayhawk making a move, and get the call.

Only Big East teams impress TBL.

The dunk represented two meaningless points at the very tail end of a game that was competitively over.
If his panties are that much in a wad over this, maybe he should teach his kids to play until the final whistle and Henson wouldn’t have been so open to begin with.

Agreed.

Turgeon is still feeling his way through the ACC. In time he’ll learn when to fight these fights. That said if it happened to a Roy Williams team; he woulda pulled his squad off the court with 1.2 seconds left in the game for “safety concerns”.

Here is a more impressive UNC game ending dunk vs Marlyand

don’t forget the post game press conference that he would surely give from him golden throne.

I’m so sad that Mark Turgoen’s whiny ass isn’t in the Big 12 anymore.

You watch your badmouthing of the Sturgeon!
I actually love Turgeon, and am pumped for the future, but this was pretty bitchy. Meh.

I was actually there, and rooting for Len to foul the shit out of him, but whatever. Such as life. To be fair, Henson was getting abused by us all game, so this shouldn’t have been surprising.

As I was watching Maryland fall apart in the second half, all I kept thinking was “Gary would have never let these kids lose this game.”
Turgeon will open recruiting doors that Gary didn’t even knock on, but this team lacks the toughness and discipline Williams brought.

Queefer, this team is terribly undermanned this season. They only have 8 scholarship players. They play hard every game. They will be fine.

Yeah, I likey.
