My wife knows better than to even attempt to purchase any one of those items.

the 20 most beautiful bookstores in the world …
LOVED this…passing the link along
Les Miles, keeping it classy and taking a shot at Gunner Kiel.
I love Les’ gumption and attitude, but he’s come off as the biggest kind of spoiled brat since the NT game. He really needs to tone it the fuck down.

Incredible read on Wilson Ramos, Venezuela, and kidnapping.
I know that is his home country & family is there. Leaving would be a good idea.

I’m just surprised she’s that on the payroll prior to actual marriage. Unless she has a bunch of her own money from something else in which case I shrug.

The one in Paris, with the big, comfy chair – yes!
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:23 AM
wasn’t a dunk.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:24 AM
Hopefully bowl game commissioners have read this. If Kiel ends up “leading” ND, hopefully we’ll see a LSU-ND meeting in the 2014 Dustbuster bowl.

“Luminous Micro Toilets Against Public Urination”
Wouldn’t regular lights do the job? Must be nice to have your streets full of urinals.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:24 AM
I’m sure she is spending the millions she got from her big hooters win. or, big win at Hooters. whatever.

Love the table tennis video. Wish I’d thought of that with my little one.

Uncomfortable TV, starring Cousin Sal asking white people on the streets of LA about black people.
Is Jimmy Kimmel developmentally disabled?
I kept waiting for somebody to answer “my favorite one is the one that don’t live near me” or some such. I wonder about the outtakes.
Ask that same question below the Mason-Dixon, and you would be stunned and in tears at the end.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:27 AM
Ha! No – they’re paid off. My post is a little misleading – my wife is very “practical” when it comes to clothes, etc. I really can’t complain.

He’s got the money to pull his entire family out. But like many athletes that keep returning to their old inner city hangouts, these guys can’t leave their countries behind.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:37 AM
Same with my wife, and I didn’t realize how lucky I was. I am appalled sometimes at the amount of money my buddy’s wife spends on material items. While she’s a good friend as well as him, I can’t believe someone would spend $200 on a fucking t-shirt.

Surprised that a salacious story like the Brian Cashman thing hasn’t gotten a mention from the TBL staff (unless I missed it)…
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:40 AM
My work had a breakfast this morning and had Chick-fil-a and Dunkin Donuts catered. Two chicken biscuits and a large Dunkin coffee for free is exactly how I would like to start every morning.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:40 AM
Does she drop this kind of money frequently? And is she breaking them? My wife may spend a couple hundred bucks on jeans, but she rarely needs jeans under this scenario.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:41 AM
One of my favorite table tennis stories was when Barney Reed was banned two years for steroids. What?
Only thing stranger was when tennis beanpole Petr Korda got nabbed for ‘roids. Look at those guns

February 3rd, 2012 at 8:47 AM
So the other day was our 9-year anniversary. Couldn’t celebrate as we had an immediate family member have an ER situation (recovering but scary) so today we going to Michael Symon’s restaurant and Cleveland Orchestra. Called in a favor and got the chef’s table. I’m pumped. Screw work.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:47 AM
Did anyone else have their DVR’s not record 30 Rock last night? Some kind of snafu with it not being marked as new, and of course this was one of the only Thursdays ever that I was actually out and missed it. I guess I can watch it online.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:48 AM
Fantastic.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:48 AM
Ugh – just had the office block pool draw. I just drew 2-4, 3-5, 5-0, 1-6, and 9-9. I can light that money on fire.

Not by me.
“Keep it real”, my azz. If my choices are living in peace in another place or living with the real threat of kidnapping of me or a loved one, I’m waving bye-bye.

you probably have NBC on demand, too. There very good at on demand, except they make you watch commercials.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Well, except for that ER part, scripty. Hope all is good there.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Are you saying on one pair of jeans, or on multiple jeans?
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Yeah, thats the shitty part. I dont know how fast they get up new episodes either.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Go Giants.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:51 AM
my favorite part of the Friday roundup are the repeats from Thursday’s roundup. I count two that I clicked yesterday and today.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:52 AM
God bless Sam Gagner.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:52 AM
Giants 52, Patriots 7.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:52 AM
I dont know how fast they get up new episodes either.
usually next day. At least at my house. Because I had your same problem last week. Who kills me is Fox. My feed is sometimes totally janked, and they don’t do on demand here, and at Hulu you have to wait 8 days. So I was stacking up new fringe episodes like cordwood over here.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:52 AM
I don’t find out until noon…been doing it for six years and have always gotten shitty numbers. I am winning my fantasy playoffs league, and still have Brady, Gronk, Nicks, Manningham, Tynes and the Giants D whereas no one else has more than 3 players left.
/31-27 Pats
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:53 AM
You actually think the Pats can score a touchdown on that incredible defense? Please.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:53 AM
Giants 52, Patriots 7.
always doubting the Giants huh ? Of course you think they’ll only score 52.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:53 AM
how is new england’s defense ever going to hold the giants to a field goal?
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Family member is a nurse, has apparently Bronchitis, Flu, and a sinus infection so bad the pressure on her head was cutting out the vision in her one eye. She works one of those 36 hours over the weekend/paid for 40 hour hospital shifts, but the managers are really dicks about calling off sick b/c it’s impossible to get coverage. So she tried to push through but ran herself into the ground. But they ran of battery of tests make sure no tumors, etc.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
That would be a single pair.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Last year was great, I won the 4th quarter and final score, got $400 AND the Steelers lose.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:55 AM
I know that is his home country & family is there. Leaving would be a good idea.
To each his own. Dikembe Mutumbo’s saved countless lives by always going back.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:56 AM
Maybe a freak coverage blown, I mean even San Diego scored a TD against San Fran in 95.
I listened yesterday on the radio as Amani Toomer explained in depth that Gronkowski will not be effective because his tibia and fibia (yes that is what he called the other bone) are rubbing against each other in this high ankle sprain, and that the body and muscles will shot themselves down to protect themselves. Gronk will not be a factor, and word on the street is Brady doesn’t like to be pressured, unlike Eli who is unflappable.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:56 AM
Well, feeling tired after getting up at 6AM for three days in a row is no longer valid for me. 36 hours in a weekend is insane. Is that the regular schedule?
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:57 AM
My work had a breakfast this morning and had Chick-fil-a and Dunkin Donuts catered. Two chicken biscuits and a large Dunkin coffee for free is exactly how I would like to start every morning.

I’m proud to say the only minute I watched ESPN’s super bowl coverage was when Cris Carter pussied out on the zip-line
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Does having the chef’s table allow you to interact with the chef? Because that would be great to talk and get his recommendations. Also looking at the menu I wouldn’t mind trying some of the wild boar ragu.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:59 AM
To each his own. Dikembe Mutumbo’s saved countless lives by always going back.
Yep. So, by inference, if Ramos had given more to his local area in Venezuela, maybe he doesn’t get kidnapped?
I’ve never been kidnapped, but by the description, I don’t need to experience it to know I wouldn’t enjoy it. Ramos has been snatched once. Who’s to say somebody else won’t try something later.
I am a Nationals fan. This guy is the starting catcher. Don’t get kidnapped again is my request.

Just saw on twitter that Kobayashi finished with 337 wings in 30 minutes.
That is astounding.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:02 AM
It was later on in the run but I enjoyed that Simpsons where Homer gets kidnapped in Brazil. I love when they give the kidnappers the money and they open the briefcase:
“Look at all that pink and purple!”
“Yeah, our money is so gay.”
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:02 AM
Total bullshit if him and Andre Reed don’t make it in again.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:02 AM
36 hours in a weekend is insane.
Yeah she works goes in SAT afternoon, comes home SUN morning. Comes home, sleeps a bit – works all day SUN, then comes home MON morning. Sleeps a bit – up late afternoon Monday. No work til next SAT. Gets paid for a full week though. When she does take vacation it’s like 12 days off.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:03 AM
Nice. Lola is good, not amazing, tad overrated. The Orchestra is bad ass and Severance Hall is an awesome building, better than most cities have.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Holy hell. I had 8 wings last night and felt like I was going to explode.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:04 AM

Also looking at the menu I wouldn’t mind trying some of the wild boar ragu.
I’ll get that then. Symon’s there every weekend. I’m sure one of his staff will do the meet and greet. We are at one end of the restaurant and we are in a cozy place, but have a mild perch where we can see down in the kitchen, with this thick glass so it’s not all noisy. Symon is pretty accessible but I have no expectation of seeing him. I’ve eaten there once before. People here murdered me for getting these sweetbreads but it was maybe the best thing I ever ate.

February 3rd, 2012 at 9:09 AM

only reason i went was to enter in the drawing and the first 25 people got a $25 gift cert. figured nobody would show up, but i got there at 1130 and there were already 30 people in line.

February 3rd, 2012 at 9:10 AM
I ordered these once and the waiter made the mistake of giving me the stink eye and telling me what it actually was. Never been able to try again.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Sweetbreads are fucking delicious. You’re missing out.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Buzz Bissinger is currently on a twitter rant that all of those who attended the Wing Bowl are homophobic. What a treasure he is.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:13 AM
i didn’t bring my 3w to test it against, but i tried out the 17* 4-wood and was just completely blown away. my avg carry was 10 yards longer than i hit my 3w now…i hit eight shots with it and had four with ball speeds over 150 mph. with a freaking 4w.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:13 AM
Cleveland having one of the best symphony orchestras traces back to when CLE was one of biggest cities in the USA, having Severance Hall, and then being fortunate to land two of the best conductors in George Szell and then Dohnanyi. They are big 5 and get union scale so the pay is on par and their COLA goes a touch farther. They had to work hard on their endowment too. Being not in one of the bigger US cities allows them to travel more than some of their peers as Cleveland cant support as many dates, say – as NY could.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:14 AM
I pounded 85 hot wings during the 2001 men’s hoops title game. my buddy polished off something like 220 or 250 medium wings, can’t remember which. he was sick for two or three days.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:14 AM
It seems like something that could go very badly if not handled properly. Then again, I’ve never seen them offered anywhere other than high-end spots.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:15 AM
After all the Chick-fil-a talk yesterday I ended up there last night for dinner. They screwed up my wife’s order (gave her a chicken sandwich instead of chicken nuggets), but let us keep the extra sandwich.
I tried the Spicy Chicken sandwich. Not bad going down, but it didn’t take long before it was out of the system with significantly more burn on the other end.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:15 AM

And its Giants 27, Patriots 13. Big Blue F’n Weekend!

This is me in two days. Can’t wait.

February 3rd, 2012 at 9:31 AM
For those who have had them, what would you compare sweetbreads to?
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:32 AM
Anyone have Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye? Was on sale and I picked it up for my SB viewing party*.
*party will consist of myself and the dog in an unlit room.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:33 AM
fatty.
for serious though, I’m in love with the spicy chicken sandwich.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:34 AM
Nope. May be delicious, but I have no urge to eat a thymus gland

February 3rd, 2012 at 9:35 AM
I have, it’s good. Not quite enough rye in the flavor for me, but I like rye. Ever have Founders Red’s Rye?
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:35 AM
It’s very solid, wish it had a little more sauce on it.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:36 AM
Nice work on Smirnoff. Hubba hubba.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:36 AM
I mean, I’m from Michigan, but ok.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:36 AM
hey now. 6′ 150 lbs over here. Someday it will catch up to me, but its my hope that if I can keep running a lot, I won’t ever have to change my shitty diet.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:36 AM
So, any of the golf geeks up for swing vids on Monday?
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:36 AM
Wow, you people rave about CFA. Where’s SC? He and I need to make a trip down there so I can see what I’m missing.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:37 AM
The best rye beer I’ve had is Real Full Moon Rye Pale Ale. The Texas folks should know all about it.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:37 AM
It does seem a little dry at times. I like to douse it in either polynesian or BBQ.

I had a bottle last week — it’s delicious.

It’s not the greatest thing you’ll eat or anything, but it certainly should never be hated on. And it’s probably better than most other fast food.
/excluding the cheesy gordita crunch. greatest ever.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Negative. Never really had rye beer but I saw it on sale and decided to grab a case. Just needed something to suck down during the agony of watching the game.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Grizz the Brueggers across from your building is woefully understaffed, you need to do something about that. Goddamn.

February 3rd, 2012 at 9:39 AM
i’ve fallen back into my superstitions and will be rocking a sam adams six pack for my viewing party.
essentially it will also be me and my dog since my wife could care less about the game.

Why is Jim Irsay acting like such a cock?
He criticizes Peyton for not keeping things “in house” then goes and tweets his medical information.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Agreed but I like the extra hoppy taste in there. Reminds me of how Terrapin Rye Pale Ale tasted before they started mass producing it. Haven’t had Founders Red’s Rye. Good?
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Founders Breakfast Stout is one of the three best beers ever made.

Dude, don’t even get me started about that Brueggers. The one woman who makes the bagels pisses me off to no end. And they have the express line for the coffee club holders and it totally ruins the natural flow of the line.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Ah. You’re either going to love it or hate it. Really no in-between for rye beers. Just make sure it’s above fridge temp. The too cold bottle I had was pretty bland
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Hell yeah. You’ll be sore in two days, too, because I am. Round two tonight.

I’m perfectly cool with it without any sauce. all the flavor’s in the chicken. if I ever want it moister, I’ll apply some mayo, but not much. my wife uses a whole packet of mayo on one chicken biscuit…gross.

6′ and 185 is pretty normal. I’m 5-11 and would like to get to 185, but at 195 there’s not much I can lose without looking sickly. It’s all about how you look and feel, not the number on the scale.

February 3rd, 2012 at 10:01 AM
yea, mine’s kinda old (probably early 2000′s). 14* sonartec ss3.5 with a rombax stiff flex taken from an old r7tp superquad cut down to 41.5″. even tho the shaft is labeled stiff, it plays x-stiff…280 cpm and 2.9 torque.

I did lift, I worked out 3 times a week as well, just couldn’t put on enough muscle since I wasn’t eating enough protein to maintain it. It’s also partially hereditary. My build along with my dad’s and grandmom’s is tall and lanky. My Dad was 6’2, 200 well into his thirties.

February 3rd, 2012 at 10:06 AM
Oh, I know. I ate at the Atlantic Grille in Atlantic Station on Saturday. Had a bad-ass turkey burger.
Not excessively skinny, but if I had to guess a weight back then, I would’ve said like 150-160.
Eat one gram of protein per pound of body weight and you’ll be just fine with adding and maintaining muscle. But yeah, heredity has a lot to do with it. There’s only so much one can “overcome.”

118? Yeesh. None of our coxswains were that thin. Besides, they set a limit as to how little your cox can weigh and they will put sandbags in the boat if you weigh less. I did a shirt exchange with the Texas crew, still have it.

Yeah, that was a tough read, but nothing I didn’t already know. I’d rent anyway for a year before considering a house. Atlanta was drilled by the Great Recession not only because of real estate, but because there are lots of banks there.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:12 AM

I’m pretty sure I speak for chicago and ATL Badger when I say three months of big-time heat and humidity is just fine considering how awesome April, May, September and October are, along with the very short, mild and mostly snow-less winters.

So when did you have your scrotum removed? Because clearly you’ve never spent a summer there with your sack humidity-sealed to your thigh.
I’ll take 2 months of 90 degrees over 4 months of below freezing, snowy, slushy, cloudy shit. The weather here is fantastic 9 months out of the year.. and I don’t mind the heat either… you can go to the pool with a bunch of scantily clad women, or just go into the air conditioning.

That’s your answer. It’s usually perfect running weather pretty much any time except for those 3 months (which are admittedly hellish). Plus, you can handle the humidity during the summer if you’re sitting in a coldish pool pounding beers for 10 hours every weekend.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:22 AM
Such a good piece of advice. Also good to know that your years of previous history of running up a substantial balance and paying it off every goddamn month doesn’t help you.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:24 AM
Any idea how this affects home buying? I’m in a similar situation.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:24 AM
It’s nice to know chicago and ATL_Badger and I share in dismissing the excessive heat and humidity by simply going to the pool and getting drunk.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:25 AM
I’ve never really looked into it. I just know I’d like as little debt as possible before I start looking.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:26 AM
I apologize for the bragging. I love my wife that’s for sure.
She does legal work.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:27 AM
Does it hurt you? I have some credit card debt that will be paid off within a year or so (0% apr and all that), but I ran up a decent balance. I was under the impression it hurt me short term, but once paid off it was fine.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:27 AM
Fuck you.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:28 AM
I’m 5’10″ and 165, but I’m kinda doughy around the middle. On paper, those numbers are fine, but I’ve got a spare tire. Used to weigh 175, but I was in better shape and had more mass.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:28 AM
It’s the perfect solution.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:29 AM
I bet the Giants to win the SB in week 17 at 40-1. I put $30 on them.
I am down about $1000 though in my account and have to settle up next week, after the SB. Should I even hedge this bet?? The Patriots moneyline is -140. I can’t see laying $560 to win $400 just to still owe $600…
I think the Giants are the better team. Obviously I wish I had put $50 or $100 on them at 40-1 and I wouldn’t be having this convo. I just can’t make myself hedge when I think the Giants are better and I would still have to pay any money. Any thoughts on this?
I also am hoping the halftime line works out and I can hedge off that…long shot, but its happened before.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:29 AM
yea, same here…but i consider it a blessing because it’s incredibly easy to gain good weight compared to a hardgainer.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:30 AM
This is what I was concerned about. I was starting to lose some definition and get a bit doughy so I just started running and hitting the weights again. It’s nice that I’m already seeing results after 10 days.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:30 AM
NDub… why did you move to Macon in the first place? You have family there or something…?
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:32 AM
oh yea…but what i always loved were those weeks where you’d plateau and not get anywhere yet still plugged away knowing there’s a breakthrough on the horizon. sweat equity and all that.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:33 AM
Maybe if I was a pro athlete, it would be nice, but in everyday life it doesn’t really help to be able to put on weight easily, especially if I’m not able to work out 3 hours a day.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:33 AM
Once paid off I believe it actually helps you quite a bit. It shows to financial institutions that you can take on a large debt and get it paid off. At least thats how I always saw it.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:33 AM
90 degree heat is the worst thing god created, but it’s different for me because I work outdoors when it’s warm. Last July when it was +90 for 2 weeks straight, it was 115 degrees on the roof, in the shade. My job makes me hate the sun.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:34 AM

I gotta get back to that. I was never benching or lifting THAT much, but I used to go maybe 5 days a week. I need to get back in there. It might get my wife to get off her own ass and try to lose a few (dozen) pounds.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:34 AM
Great job opportunity. That’s the only reason. I had zero connections here. I’ve met some good people and like my job, but I’m ready for something new. Something bigger.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:35 AM
fair enough…i saw some pics of me from late 2010 when i was 225-235 and it was gross. all that extra weight added on just cuz i didn’t work out…tho ive never had an issue getting weight off either. would probably kill myself if it was harder to lose.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:36 AM
Absolutely. Those weeks are tough, but once you move forward again it feels incredible.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:36 AM
I think carrying a balance hurts you in the sense that you have a higher debt-to-income ratio. Eliminate that debt and you’ll look better. My issues was how the bank wasn’t using our payment history to show that we could actually pay our debts. We ended up having to pay off some things early that were carrying no interest and it pissed us off.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:36 AM
90 degree heat is the worst thing god created, but it’s different for me because I work outdoors when it’s warm.
Oh yeah… I would never fucking work outdoors down here. That’s what the mexicans are for!

Making the final payment next month to pay off the 8K in CC debt (I was so fucking dumb) I ran up while in college. I’d like to send a nice note with a hearty FUCK YOU to Bank of America for never once working with me to lower my interest rate from the obscene amount it was even though I never missed a payment.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:38 AM
Other than diet, this is my biggest hurdle. It’s the last thing I want to do after work and I don’t want to get up at 5AM to do it before. I feel like all I’d do is work and then hit the gym.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:39 AM
Thanks, YYSA and Mr. C. That’s was I was hoping.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:41 AM
I finally got a CC my last year of college, but it never occurred to me to actually use it as I had no income and the ‘rents weren’t going to pay it off. How does one run up debt outside of a need-to situation? I’ll hand up and listen …
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:41 AM
I use my lunch break and then eat at my desk (my work is flexible in that I usually take a 1hr 15m lunch), but eventually I’ll have to get up a little earlier when my running mileage increases. It’s so hard to work out after work.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:41 AM
Shit. Hang up and listen.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:42 AM
I’d kill to have only $8k in debt at the moment. We’ve got a few cards with about $5k each on them (moving money around to lower APRs) and her student loan debt is still over $10k. I salute those of you who’ve managed to pay your shit down in a timely manner. Moral of the story: don’t get married.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:43 AM
do it. I do every month I send in my payment to Citi.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:44 AM
Besides your debt-to-income ratio, I also talked with a mortgage broker just recently who said the “magic threshold” is that you are under 80% of your credit card limit. He mentioned that if you maintain it under that for a few months your status changes significantly, and quickly.
First I heard it spelled out that way, and maybe it’s just a Canadian thing, but it was interesting.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM

Well I didn’t work as much as I probably should have when I was in school… I was so hell bent on graduating in 4 years.. (not sure why)… so it was just little shit that added up with interest if you didn’t pay it down every month. Couple bottles of booze here, a night out with friends there…. groceries… gas… shit adds up… and interest is a mother fucker. I didn’t spend it on clothes or spring break or anything… I was just an idiot, and assumed I’d have a good job as soon as I graduated. Live and learn. I’m nearly completely debt free now… just a little over 3K on a low interest student loan left. It’s a good feeling.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM
Or have a child.
/I keed
//but it is a really bad combo of high expenses and no paycheck on maternity leave
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:46 AM
Also…I had to pay most of my tuition and rent.. so no real help from the parents, aside from a cell phone and they’d spot me something if I was in a pinch.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:47 AM
I’d like to send a nice note with a hearty FUCK YOU to Bank of America for never once working with me to lower my interest rate from the obscene amount it was even though I never missed a payment.
Oh, I sent a nice “kiss my ass” in the note of the check when I paid off my car to Wells Fargo. They called me into their office a few years prior and talked to me about debt consolidation, saying they could “help me” etc. I said, “if you really want to help me out, lower my APR on the car note.” The guy behind the desk smiled and said something like, “but then how are we going to make money?”
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:47 AM
No, I didn’t put my tuition on my CC… I’m not that dumb.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:48 AM
Great job opportunity. That’s the only reason. I had zero connections here. I’ve met some good people and like my job, but I’m ready for something new. Something bigger.
Gotchya… I haven’t really been down to Macon… I’ve just heard mixed reviews… so just curious.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:50 AM
I was lucky to have parents who could help. If I was paying my own way college may have taken a decade.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:51 AM

I worked so much during high school.. I had more than 15K saved up before college… ’twas depressing to see that disappear so quickly. Worth it not to take out a fuckton of student loans though.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:52 AM
They would have to decide by March 17th because Kolb is getting a roster bonus of 7 million. So assuming Manning gets cut on the 8th they will have a small window to evaluate Manning. As far as Kolbs contract I don’t believe there is much of a hit at all. Plus this is the Cardinals, its not like they were right up against the cap.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:52 AM
ideal qualifications for a mortgage would be 20% debt and at least 20% down in cash.
reality doesn’t allow that to happen in many cases with the higher cost of living and income that hasn’t kept up with it.

I’ll take 2 months of 90 degrees
Kind of underselling Atlanta heat aren’t we? I coach soccer in Atlanta and I would give anything if it were only 90 plus for only 2 months….
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:53 AM
It sucks, is old and dirty, and mostly ghetto.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:54 AM

Ha… yeah.. I was being nice when I said mixed reviews. Atlanta is the tits.. eye candy as far as the eye can see.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:55 AM
for us, it was 90%. prior to buying our house, we were using our credit card for every possible purchase and then paying it off in full at the end of the month. the problem we found was we were keeping our limit low as barrier to racking up debt…if our limit was lower than the amount of money we could potentially spend in a month, then of course we could always pay it off every month. apparently though, when you’re spending 90% or greater of your credit card’s credit limit, that’s a ding on your credit score. now, every time AMEX offers to increase our credit limit to entice us to spend more, we accept. I think our credit limit is up to $21k per month and we don’t even spend 20% of that. when we bought our “new” car last December, my score was in the lower-800′s and my wife’s was upper-700′s.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:57 AM

2nd half of june through august? It obviously can get hot outside that time frame… but that’s probably when the heat’s at it’s worst. I checked… average high on June 4 is 84 degrees.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:59 AM
Now I’m sad. I applied for five jobs on Sunday. Gonna try to find an HR person at each place and do the classic follow up call.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 AM
Exactly what the Wife and I do. CC for everything, use the points for something nice later.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:01 AM
Oh yeah.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:02 AM
So, for a credit card… if I’ve got 5K, keep it below 4K? This is what you mean by 80 percent? Or should I leave 80 percent FREE of the debt – essentially spend no more than 1K on a 5K limit.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:02 AM
Or should I leave 80 percent FREE of the debt – essentially spend no more than 1K on a 5K limit.
80% free… the second scenario.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:02 AM
free hotel roomz, plz!
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:03 AM
Bank of America gave me a 10K limit when I was in COLLEGE with no steady full time job. That’s just fucking crazy.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:04 AM
According to my Wife who was in the loyalty industry for a few years, flights are your best value. Also, never get merchandise.
Hotel rooms are good, though.

February 3rd, 2012 at 11:07 AM
They got me all the way up to a 20K limit in college. Thanks Bank of America! I am still paying off what once was a 15K debt.

OK, cool. Thanks.

Indeed but hey I was 20 and had tons of entertainment.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:12 AM
no no no, don’t spend more than 4k. spend 80%, don’t spend 20%. these are conservative figures…like I said, I think we were getting dinged for spending 90%+ of our credit limit every month before increasing that limit.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:12 AM

yep.

when combined with that ^
Or maybe my comprehension is terrible. Probably the latter.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:17 AM
Did someone also trick you into buying a house you can’t afford? According to my president, this apparently happened to a lot of people.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:18 AM
Ugh. Sadly that is how most of it gets racked up. Took that debt up quick. money^pussy = Debt
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:18 AM
money^pussy = Debt
the e=mc^2 of my life.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:19 AM
it’s definitely the latter, but here’s a better explanation with fictional numbers:
Credit limit = $5,000/month
Allowable spending percentage per month before credit score deductions = 90%
Allowable spending amount per month before credit score deductions = $4,500
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:19 AM
Credit limit = $5,000/month
Allowable spending percentage per month before credit score deductions = 90%
Allowable spending amount per month before credit score deductions = $4,500
Got it. Gracias.

Holy shit. Chase JUST bumped me to 23 hundred and I graduated in May. I’m almost a thousand in debt but have no student loans, so at least there’s that.
