Bracket Busters is Set: Undefeated Murray State Hosts Ranked St. Mary’s
ESPN’s Bracket Busters Series, which seeks to set up matchups between schools from “mid-major” conferences and will be broadcast between Friday, February 17th to Sunday, February 19th, has been set.
The marquee matchup will be the lone undefeated team in the country, Murray State, hosting their biggest risk for a loss, St. Mary’s of California. St. Mary’s is 21-2, and has a better profile than Murray State entering the game, with a sweep of BYU, a win over Gonzaga, and one of their two losses coming to Baylor. That game will be televised at 6 pm on either ESPN or ESPN2 (likely pending whether the Racers are still undefeated).
Other notable matchups between teams with hopes for the NCAA Tournament:
Long Beach State at Creighton: Long Beach played a very tough non-conference schedule, with wins over Pittsburgh and Xavier, and losses to Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, North Carolina and San Diego State, all on the road. A win at Missouri Valley Conference Creighton would give them a good at large profile.
Wichita State at Davidson: The Shockers get a tough test against a Davidson team that defeated Kansas earlier this year.
Nevada at Iona: Both teams really need this win to boost themselves into having any chance at an at-large. MoMo Jones, who played for Arizona last year, is now playing for Iona.
Northern Iowa at Virginia Commonwealth: Last year’s tournament darlings, VCU, are playing in a down Colonial Athletic Conference and could really use a win over a team from the stronger Missouri Valley.

Cleveland State traveling to Old Dominion needs some love. #29 RPI vs #31 RPI.

These will be some of the better games you get. Tons of top teams and their AAU-style youth-led dribble-drive offenses with no movement, no heads-up play, and such. Lots of the bracket-buster teams are senior-laden and play some good hoops. These teams have earned their RPI ratings. Top 40 teams in the nation mostly.

I may have been a little harsh on Straub there – it’s good just not great.

T-Wolves scored 42 points in the 3rd quarter.
Beasley 26 points on 13 shots, and Rubio is 3 rebounds and an assist short of a triple-double (6-8 shooting) with the full 4th quarter left.

Rubio!
Rubio!
Rubio!

Beasley: 34 pts (10-14 FG; 12-12 FT)
Love: 29 pts
Rubio: 18 pts, 11 ast, 8 reb
I guess that’s pretty good on a back-to-back.

How is it other years? I’ve never done NBA betting, don’t think I could make money anywhere.
January 30th, 2012 at 11:33 PM
The NBA is the worst wager sport, period. “Yea, let’s bet Charlotte against LA because the Lakers never play to their potential again shitty opponents. Look at the trends against the Bobcats!!! Dumb.

How is it other years?

plsk, i don’t study beyond reading game previews. like anyone else, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. the key factor is more how much you bet on each. soemtimes your higher bets lose and the smaller ones win. you;ve picked correctly but not wagered correctly, and vice versa
lifetime….i’m down probably double in all betting, if not 2/3. it’s fun as long as you can stop when you have to
