Chris Paul Calls Pau Gasol Soft, Gasol Responds by Rubbing Chris Paul’s Head?
After a whistle near the end of the testy Lakers/Clippers game Wednesday, Chris Paul tried to slap the ball out of Pau Gasol’s hands for no reason, then proceeded to trash-talk with the LA center all the way up the court. After Kobe Bryant intervened, you can see Chris Paul tell Kobe (:19), “he’s soft” and then say it again to Gasol. Of all the responses Gasol could have had, he chose to … rub Chris Paul’s head? Perhaps that’s his dismissive way of saying, “nice try, little guy.” I commend Gasol (23 points, 10 rebounds) for keeping his cool. Kobe wound up jawing with CP3 instead.
Here’s a post-game interview (:30) where Gasol just calls the incident “trash talk.”
The Lakers won, 96-91. It was CP3′s first game back from injury and he only played 26 minutes and took eight shots (Mo Williams jacked 16). Paul had 12 assists and no turnovers.

NBA probably has the softest collection of athletes of the major leagues now that Oakley isn’t around.

Honor Killings happen more often that you would think.
Anyways, watched the Pistons for the last couple minutes last night. Austin Daye sucks.

You answered your own question. Game had been physical, Clips were about to lose and CP3 decided to start yawing. It happens.

Gasol should’ve Pillsbury Doughboy’d CP3.

Do not like the Clippers. CP3 has fallen a long way since the Jordan profile a couple years ago.

Chris Paul is just talking shit. Nothing really malicious. Those guys are all cool.

I’m not sure if this clip shows it, but there’s a clip after the play (when Pau misses the free throw) that shows that Gasol bumps CP3 at the end of the way, talks some shit, and tells him to go home by pointing to the tunnel. He punked him out.

That “soft” player was the second best player in two title winning team. I’ve also learned that Dirk Nowitzki is “soft”. At least google thinks so, as the phrase “dirk nowitzki soft” brings up 3,610,000 results. What makes these players “soft” and not guys like Lamar Odom, who is so “distraught” from couple of deaths, that he totally forgot the shoot the ball straight. Just as “thug” is a coded word in the NBA, so is “soft”. It’s used to describe a certain group of players. I don’t think I need to explain what group I’m talking about.
This isn’t football. You can’t take a player out of the game by hitting him hard a couple of time. Slight contact gets a player the foul call. If you even LOOK at someone cross-eyed, they call a technical on you. Just a bunch of fake tough guys who wouldn’t bust a grape in a fruit fight (h/t Jay-Z) acting like they are modern day charles oakley. Give me a break.
Just play ball, guys. Stop with this “I’m tough, you’re not” act. No one is buying it.

It basically comes down to demeanor. Pau is anything but soft…he was the primary reason the Lakers won a victory in Game 7 of the 2010 Finals, down 13. Talking trash when you’re about to lose (and directing it towards the player that shred your team) is not being tough, its being a sore loser.

I enjoy the irony of Chris Paul, who punches dudes in the junk, trying to call someone else soft. I’ve always loathed that little twat.

Pau could drop little CP3 with one punch. Know your role, son.

Just some simple beaking back and forth, but media again blows it way out of proportion (headline news on ESPN).
What makes these players “soft” and not guys like Lamar Odom, who is so “distraught” from couple of deaths, that he totally forgot the shoot the ball straight.
Really? A couple of deaths ain’t no thang? If you knew Lamar’s background you might have a different opinion. He has been garbage, but because he is physically soft right now (too many Texas bbq’s with Knloe), not mentally.
And for all the “he’d drop this guy”, see exhibit A: Zo vs. LJ. Too huge dudes who couldn’t throw a punch at all, at least on the court. Probably the only tough guys in the league are the guys you’d least expect, not those acting tough knowing as soon as anything starts there’ll be twelve guys between them. Just play ball fellas.
