Sydney Leroux, the Next Great Women’s Soccer Goal Scorer, Also Happens to Look Like This
Sydney Leroux scored five goals in her second appearance for the US Women’s National team, but she was booed. The US women drubbed Guatemala, 13-0, but the CONCACAF Olympic qualifier was played in Vancouver, and Leroux is from Surrey, British Columbia. The Canadians are not happy Leroux, 21 – who starred at UCLA – chose to play for the Americans (she’s got dual citizenship).
“It’s pretty sweet. I know there are some people who don’t respect my decision, there are some that do and not everyone’s going to like you,” said Leroux.
“I’m happy. I’m happy where I am, I’m happy to wear this jersey … I heard some people were booing me, but after the fourth goal, they stopped.”
According to USA Today, Leroux’s father is Ray Chadwick, the former California Angels pitcher. An Alex Morgan-Sydney Leroux goal-scoring tandem should be prolific over the next decade. Expect ESPN to work very, very hard to get them both in the next “Body” issue. [Vancouver Sun]
