Jimmer had his best shooting game of the season – 5-of-7 from the field, 13 points in 20 minutes – but the Kings lost anyway, 101-89.
I heard a stat the other day that the Kings are the only team in the NBA to have a double-digit negative differential on points. As in, they average -11 points per game. How the hell does that happen with so many shooters/scorers on that team?
January 24th, 2012 at 8:20 AM
ya sure Detroit doesn’t qualify for that?
January 24th, 2012 at 8:22 AM
I don’t want to talk about any of the above stuff.
I want to talk about how surprising I find it that Ty Duffy thinks that Ty Duffy is a funny guy. Maybe he is, in real life, I have no idea. I just find the idea of a funny Ty Duffy implausible.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:24 AM
I’ve spent all morning looking at +/- stats. (dork). Jimmer’s is terrible, of course. I’m sure you wouldn’t have guessed that Jrue Holiday leads the NBA at this point…
January 24th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
i didn’t get to read “the joke”. it had been deleted. i think we need to see it to make a judgment.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
Oh, maybe I do. Toradol is a great drug. it beats migraines and cluster headaches. The shot hurts like crazy though.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:27 AM
maybe they have a lot of chuckers not taking high percentage shots?
January 24th, 2012 at 8:29 AM
He’s like a miniature Randy Marsh up there.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:30 AM
i think my son gets migraines. complains of headaches at random, then pukes a few minutes later, then is fine.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:30 AM
Lot of shooters. Not many makers.
Also, Jimmer blows.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:31 AM
Re: migraines. Is there any self diagnosis worse than the chicks who claim to get migraines but are just drama queens with a headasche? Bitch if you’ve got a migraine you’re not running around telling everyone about it.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:33 AM
this was posted on the weekend … i saw the Today Show picked it up this morning.

We touched yesterday that you would not go on First Take — would you go on the Today Show?
January 24th, 2012 at 8:40 AM
Amber Heard is getting ready to play for both teams.
Golf needs to get younger, so it is turning to Justin Timberlake
Not what the article is about. One company hired JT to appeal to the younger demos. Nobody is going to see JT in a commercial, go out and learn the game. I think it might be too late though. All the young’ins have already blown all their discretionary golf money on Puma gear and white belts to look like Ricky Fowler.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
Mike Anderson is a good coach. Arkansas is going to be battling in the SEC with Kentucky if not next year, the year after for sure. once he gets a decent big man (and a full roster to play with) the Razorbacks are going to be real good. they aren’t terrible this year and that is with 9 scholarship players left and their best returning big man/upperclassman getting hurt 3rd game of the year.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
Imitrex (Sumpatriptan) is awesome for migraines. Expensive though. Migraines friggin suck.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
I must see Moneyball. Pitt & Hill nominated, plus best pic nom?
January 24th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
It deserved none of those nominations.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:48 AM
How the hell does that happen with so many shooters/scorers on that team?
maybe they have a lot of chuckers not taking high percentage shots?
A team of guys all looking for their own shot? Damn!
I must see Moneyball. Pitt & Hill nominated, plus best pic nom?
Yep. Gonna have to rent that now.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:48 AM
I must see Moneyball. Pitt & Hill nominated, plus best pic nom?
I liked Moneyball. I wished they had focused more on Billy Beane’s baseball career because I thought that was a really interesting part of the book. I’m a Brad Pitt homer so I was in from day 1 — but it’s nothing to get too excited about.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
Mole, I know people like that. bitchy women who say migraine instead of headache, or even instead of annoyed, or even instead of they don’t like the smell of onions.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
I left moneyball under-impressed TBL. Not saying it was bad, some parts were even great, but after it was over I felt blah about it..could be that the source material is about baseball stats…
January 24th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
This is a couple days old but more intersting than anything I see in the Roundup.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
out of curiosity, would you have not seen it had they not been nominated? that seems like a pretty stupid reason to see a movie.
didn’t some silent film win a bunch of awards a couple weeks ago? no fucking way I’m seeing that unless someone tells me there are a bunch of nude scenes in it, then, maybe.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
didn’t some silent film win a bunch of awards a couple weeks ago?
The Artist, which I would imagine will be the favorite to win best picture.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
It was well done throughout even though the source material probably did not warrant a film.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
The Artist. Heard it is fantastic but it is definitely not a pop it in and watch on the couch in sweats kind of movie.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:53 AM
My coworker, a non sports fan, watched it and thought it was the greatest thing ever. By listening to her talk, I think she honestly believes the Oakland A’s have been the best franchise in sports and Scott Hatteberg is a superstar. She even ‘burned’ me a copy and really wants me to watch it since I am a baseball fan. Meh. I think its gonna be shitty. And I LOVE Scott Hatteberg.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Also nominated for best picture Tuesday: the silent film “The Artist”; the family drama “The Descendants”; the Sept. 11 tale “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close”; the Deep South drama “The Help”; the romantic fantasy “Midnight in Paris”; the sports tale “Moneyball”; the family chronicle “The Tree of Life”; and the World War I epic “War Horse.”
Seems like a really weak crop compared to other years, even last year’s nominees were far better (Kings Speech, Black Swan, Social Network, True Grit, 127 Hours, ECT)
January 24th, 2012 at 8:55 AM
I read CJ’s comment without looking at the name and I thought “dude this chick wants to fuck you”
January 24th, 2012 at 8:56 AM
Never take that and drink coffee. I felt a sinus migraine coming on, took it and started to feel better. Then I drank coffee. Bad.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:56 AM
Rand Paul, the Kentucky Senator, was detained by TSA
I raged on Twitter about this last night, but I’ll say it again: FUCK. OFF. ASSHOLE.
January 24th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
I must see Moneyball. Pitt & Hill nominated, plus best pic nom?
Perfect example of them allowing more movies to allow a widely-viewed movie a nomination = more viewers for Brad Pitt.

Imitrex (Sumpatriptan) is awesome for migraines. Expensive though. Migraines friggin suck.
Yes they do. I’ve heard botulism shots are being used for migranes.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:01 AM
I just read Moneyball about 2 weeks ago and the movie a couple of days ago. The book was WAY better. Girlfriend liked the movie, so I’m guessing I would have liked the movie if I hadn’t read the book.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:01 AM
I saw ‘Drive’ over the weekend, I still havent decided if I thought it was really cool or the worst script of a movie I’ve ever seen. The script of Drive cannot be over 70 pages — Gosling says like 5 sentences the whole movie and he is in every shot.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
Seems like a really weak crop compared to other years, even last year’s nominees were far better (Kings Speech, Black Swan, Social Network, True Grit, 127 Hours, ECT)
It does. I’ve honestly seen none of those movies and feel no desire to catch them, unlike last year when I had to see Social Network, True Grit, 127 Hours and Black Swan.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
I know a lady, my wife’s cousin, who just got Bo-tox for her migraines. she says it works great, but she also claims to get migraines from eating things with sugar in the pm, even bread and she claims to get migraines from eating onions, so I put no stock in what she says.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
So what is appropriate to wear while viewing The Artist? An ascot?

I couldn’t figure out why this movie had such great reviews. It was okay, though.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
The Artist is the only really real achievement in film. Maybe Hugo next. The others are all just lucky to be in a year without a bunch of heavyweights.
/rooting for Gary Oldman to win but the guy from the Artist will likely get that, for direction, and possibly music
January 24th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
I thought Drive was great. Entertaining at least

@TBL,
You must READ Moneyball. The book is 100 times better.

January 24th, 2012 at 9:12 AM

I think I did too, it looks cool and there are some pretty cool gruesome revenge scenes.

I mean I get what they were doing and I do enjoy similar older movies like that but I could see how people could easily be turned off by that movie, mainly because of a generation of popcorn action movies.

And it will in the future, I learned so in Back to the Future II and Total Recall.

Looks like Gannett shares are trading higher this morning (as it should be with such a solid acquisition)… hope you got a good price (I’m sure you did with such a “big lead” on the competition). Congrats. (Hope they don’t ruin it).

He’s the founder of this website. FSV bought him out a while back (low 7 figures), and soon changed the name to The Big Lead Sports.

Fayette County attorney Hal Rounds, the group’s lead spokesman during the news conference, said the group wants to address “an awful lot of made-up criticism about, for instance, the founders intruding on the Indians or having slaves or being hypocrites in one way or another.
Hilarious.
Some people are delusional to the point that it really isn’t even funny. How do you get to the point where you’d actually believe something like that? Yikes.

I just looked and under baseball leads I thought the first story read “can cashman trade for hitler” since the font is small on my phone
January 24th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
I don’t, but I suspect plenty of people do. The FSV brand gets 16 million views a month, and those aren’t all coming from TBL alone.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
Jason, does the acquisition mean you have less control over site content?
When FSV bought him out their lawyers wouldn’t let him show cock pictures anymore, so this might not be a bad thing.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
Does this mean there is going to be more random moderation in the comments? If so, I cannot wait for that.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
I’m totally on board with this. Been saying that for months. And I will be purchasing a new suit soon. I have a lot of weddings this year.

Yeah, I wonder who those people are.

Full discloure: I don’t own any shares of Gannett. Don’t have any association with FSV (other than I am an avid fan of TBL and post here occasionally). My biggest concern is that corporate shitheads don’t ruin this site. How is that in the least bit “subliminal”?
January 24th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
It’s a trick question. TBL hasn’t had control of this site in a year and a half.

January 24th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
I just assumed TBL went from owner to editor once FSV bought them out.
you left off the -in-chief part, and the fact that nobody does any editing here. Except Ty Duffy, who takes out the parts he thinks are funny, because morons like you and me won’t get the joke, and we’ll think he’s pompous.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
Question: Did you guys see a change in content from June 2010 to Jan 2012?
Really? Because this site is now chock full of bullshit, Barry Janoff, and more bullshit. So yeah, a huge change. Sponsored by Skechers, and full of fake PR posts. And a bunch of sanitized, beholden and corrupted posts.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
It’s a trick question. TBL hasn’t had control of this site in a year and a half.
Just make sure all your contact info is up to date on the commentor spreadsheet, that way we can reach you if everybody decides to escape our new corporate overlords
January 24th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
With due respect, FSV is not Gannett.
(i hope they don’t ban my IP)…
January 24th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
Less dong, for sure
January 24th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
Ladies and gentlemen, uh, we’ve just lost the commentors, but what we’ve seen speaks for itself. The Big Lead commenting area has apparently been taken over — ‘conquered’ if you will — by a master race of giant USA beurocrats. It’s difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the site with more autoplay ads or merely enslave us. One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; they will soon be here.
(shuffles papers)
And I for one welcome our new USA Today overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a anonymous internet commentor, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their online sugar caves.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
(i hope they don’t ban my IP)…
There’s many ways around that.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
I think I speak for everyone when I say we just want to see the return of Chicken Leg posts, no matter the cost.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Last couple of ties & shirts I bought at Jos A Bank have not been very well made. Don’t think I’ll be going back there, no matter how good the deal is. Cruddy customer service did not help much
January 24th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
Question: Did you guys see a change in content from June 2010 to Jan 2012? Jason
I haven’t seen any cock on here in a year and a half. That’s good.
Janoff and Eifling. That’s not good.
Duffy editing his own posts after posting. That’s really bad.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
So will the Roundup be in the red section or the purple section?
January 24th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Duffy editing his own posts after posting. That’s really bad.
that immutable Rose Bowl post should have lived in infamy, strikethroughs and all. My favorite ever Duffy post, then he changed it.
I am really curious to see what he thought was so funny yesterday, that souvenir city decided was so bad.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Of course there are (especially for a subliminal poster secretly working for Gannett)…
January 24th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
drop down ads, some cut and paste Janoff joints, no mobile site and no dong shots. I’ve noticed a slight difference, not all of them bad.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
There’s content under the Vicks ad?
January 24th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
I think we can all agree that the Jase man (Lisk) being an addition in that time period is awesome. Sponsored posts are not awesome.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
What a shame.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:59 AM
Mobile site, here we come!!!!!!!!!
I work at a Gannett site. I assure you, the mobile site will be shit.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Guess I shoulda’ found this place earlier.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Thanks for the notes, Arkbadger.
Without going into boring detail … there should be an obvious difference between small company advertising vs. big company advertising.
The other stuff we’ll get into in the post.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
More total posts, less quality posts, more terrible posts by Janoff and Eifling, even less edited writing, more ads, more posts meant to disrespectuflly agitate, more pageview grabs, less fun posts, less dong.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
I am really curious to see what he thought was so funny yesterday, that souvenir city decided was so bad.
Tim Thomas made reference to the founding fathers, and duffy called some of the founding fathers racists… or something. He didn’t really call Tim Thomas a racist, but I guess the easily confused could have made that leap.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
January 24th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
Being completely honest, I think there’s been an increase in good (Lisk) and bad (Janoff, Eiffling, drop down menus, and autoplay). The net sum is probably close to zero, but there’s a lot of ups and downs to get there.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
LOL!
January 24th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
Guess I shoulda’ found this place earlier.
I thought of a name for your rotisserie baseball team.
A Game of (Latin) Inches
January 24th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
It was what was inferred by a “joke” that Ty made. Not much else. Not like Duffy really took a stance one way or the other on what Tim Thomas actually did. Was more interested in discussing Thomas’ right to make the choice, not his political leanings.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
I just noticed the Roundup pic. That’s a man, baby!
January 24th, 2012 at 10:05 AM
ESPN was also in the market
/not confirmed by me
January 24th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
You have no idea what was even written because it was removed shortly after the first comment (mine). Speak of what you know, not of what you assume.

/Team Bi-curious?
January 24th, 2012 at 10:08 AM
I think so, yeah. The sponsored posts, the ads (or so I’m told, as AdBlock is amazing) as well as the Janoff crap. On the flip side, Lisk has been amazing and Duffy is pretty damn good, too, even though I disagree with him on a few things.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:09 AM
You have no idea what was even written because it was removed shortly after the first comment (mine). Speak of what you know, not of what you assume.
I’m going off of what duffy said on twitter. So that is what I know, not what I assume. Also, this isn’t China, so I don’t think anyone was questioning his “right” to do what he did.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:09 AM
This is my beef. Post like the PM Roundup were fun. Now it’s all ratings and sex offender posts with a sprinkling of good Lisk posts.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:12 AM
H-Town, despite your avatar, you bring the heat daily, love it man. hilarious.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:12 AM
Where you are buying then? Jos A Bank isn’t perfect but I’ve found their gear to be pretty strong. Plus, I’m not sure where else I would go if not willing to spend a grand per suit.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:13 AM
Lisk is solid. Duffy is hit or miss, depending on what he’s writing about. He is so condescending that it’s become a meme, but I think it’s warranted.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
Jos A Banks? Wow y’all’s threads are weak.

January 24th, 2012 at 10:17 AM
Wait, what? Duffy is fucking horrible. Duffy is like the guy on CBS procedurals who we’re told is super smart but was created by idiots, for idiots.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
Then why even buy a suit?
January 24th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
That is an astoundingly bad picture of Amber Heard.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
Duffy is fucking horrible.
I didn’t say it, but upon reading it I find my head nodding in the affirmative.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
Agreed. Jos A Bank is what people wear to their 10 year high school reunion to try to convince people they don’t still live with their mom.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
Hey H-Town, who is that adorable baby in your twitter profile?
January 24th, 2012 at 10:23 AM
Duffy turned to the dark side. I wrote him several letters telling how I thought his World Cup writing was great. Then he goes on and on with the U of M nonsense, I call him out, and he gets his panties in a bunch.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:25 AM
Last couple of ties & shirts I bought at Jos A Bank have not been very well made. Don’t think I’ll be going back there
that place is horrible. they have great sales, but there suits and shirts are so horribly made and boxy, that you need a tailor to do alot of clean up work.
go custom. it costs more, but lasts a hell of a lot longer and fits correct the first time.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:27 AM
I walked into my 10 year high school reunion after eating a couple viagra, just to show the all chicks what they missed out on.
/skipped my 10 year reunion.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
Hef when Spence and I are rolling in the dough from our grow op, I’m taking you suit shopping. We’ll make a day of it.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:29 AM
I appreciate the offer but it might make my tailor jealous.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:30 AM
I needed a suit for a wedding a few months ago and was in a hurry (and didn’t give a shit what I looked like, obviously)… so I bought a suit off the rack at Macy’s and it fit better than any suit I’ve ever bought at Jos A Bank.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:30 AM
Good advice if you want a nice suit for special occasions. If you’re looking for a suit to wear everyday, I wouldn’t go that route unless you’re in duffy’s tax bracket.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:30 AM
For most stuff, I’ll go here. Thankfully, I don’t need a suit for anything besides weddings so it covers my needs pretty well.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
Do you have a good shoe guy?

January 24th, 2012 at 10:34 AM
Did you just link to a place called “Heimies?” I thought we got rid of all the racists at this site.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:34 AM
Say what you will, but I’m not spending a grand a suit. Not at this point in life. Where’s the frugal folks to back me up on this.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:37 AM
In line at the soup kitchen?
January 24th, 2012 at 10:37 AM

January 24th, 2012 at 10:44 AM
I’m actually broke as fuck my family just works in fashion so I get free shit. The boxers I’m wearing right now cost as much as two months of my health insurance, I’d never fucking pay that shit.

January 24th, 2012 at 10:49 AM
I WISH. Law degree and MA.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:50 AM
You practicing? I’ve got plenty of debt from my law degree AND I don’t practice. Love explaining to people how I got trapped in law school, hated it, and want no part of being a lawyer. They do not understand.

Say what you will, but I’m not spending a grand a suit. Not at this point in life. Where’s the frugal folks to back me up on this.
I’m here!
At my size (37″ inseam, 37″ sleeves), I can’t afford to shop at places like you ballers & shot callers up in here.
There are three K&G Warehouses (think Men’s Wearhouse outlet) in the Denver area – good suits, shirts, etc., in my sizes, for decent prices.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:51 AM
Seems redundant.

January 24th, 2012 at 10:52 AM
I have 6 weddings between Mid-May and September — can’t wait for that tab.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:52 AM
Nooooooooope.
I graduated in 2009, took the bar without studying and was 18 out of 270 points shy (knew I was moving out of state for two years, didn’t want to spend my summer in BarBri classes watching videos in the basement of our law building). Decided earlier that year I didn’t want to practice, went back to NC to get my MA in poli sci, then bricked on PhD applications and am now working as a fucking paralegal until I can get into school. Sitting for PA this summer though just so I have the option. There are attorneys in this firm that graduated after I did, let me tell you how awesome that is for my sense of self worth.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:55 AM
These shoes are italian, they cost more than your life
January 24th, 2012 at 10:57 AM
that is an investment that keeps on giving. money well spent in my opinion.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:57 AM
Are you Moses Malone?
January 24th, 2012 at 10:58 AM
Yeah, sounds about right. I paid for BarBri but got drunk every night and went to about 1/2 the sessions. Never took any practice tests or anything. My name wasn’t on the list for those that passed but I never received any info as to how I failed or by how many points. Didn’t care either. Already had a job in the oil biz. Still doing it. Still have no idea what part got me on the bar. Probably a combo of it all. Oh well.
Good luck to you.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:59 AM

Or a grow op.
January 24th, 2012 at 11:02 AM
Yeah, right, like the guy in the $4000 suit is really going to sit around and learn all of your stupid new memes.
Come on!
January 24th, 2012 at 11:03 AM
I took the Citi load to pay for it, paid for it, sold my books, and used all the money from the loan and books on front row tickets for the Penguins playoff games. I don’t even remotely regret that decision.
There are so many natural resource jobs around here, I would rather be a landman than do the shit I do now.

January 24th, 2012 at 11:09 AM
Oh yeah, duh. Penguins tickets. Yeah there was a rush up there for a while on landmen. Crazy how it’s spread so fast but makes sense given oil prices these days.
I will say landmanning is conducive to writing, other things, if you hook up with the right outfit.
January 24th, 2012 at 11:10 AM
A-shou, a-shou, a-shou … COME ON
January 24th, 2012 at 11:10 AM
Ha, yeah. I got that Citi loan, too. I used it to pay for golf every afternoon that summer.
January 24th, 2012 at 11:19 AM
I got that fucking Citi loan for those taking the bar too. My story isn’t as good as you guys though. I studied, passed the bar, got a job and started working for a firm. I made partner last year, but I’ll still be paying down debt for a long time. The debt sucks but I love what I do and couldn’t imagine doing anything else, so I guess it’s okay.
January 24th, 2012 at 11:23 AM
See I realized that I don’t have the work ethic to work 80 hour weeks like all of my friends working in big firms.
If I practice I would only want to do public interest work. In law school I worked for Legal Services and the public defender and fucking loved it.

Jesus Christ, when did Amber Heard turn into Lady Gaga?
January 24th, 2012 at 5:30 PM
That Toradol article is a farce. Just about any drug taken inappropriately has side effects. Toradol used appropriately is a very effective drug but should not be used for greater than 48 hours. Of course, I’m sure lawyers are hoping this gets picked up nationally.
