to save yourselves 2 weeks of ESPN Super Bowl promos and stories, here ya go.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:15 AM
Vanessa, well done this morning.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:17 AM
Chuck Cecil and Jim Schwartz are more at fault.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:17 AM
Oh and the overnight SB odds are out, Patriots -3.5 and o/u is 56, not the 46 I read last night. I’m leaning the over as of now.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:19 AM
Go Giants.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:20 AM
Vanessa is all grown up! I approve.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:21 AM
Cutler and Cavallari are expecting a baby.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:22 AM
I the hope the aclu curb stomps those puritan pukes.
Is this Patriots AFC championship less enjoyable to fans now that the Giants won and they will have to watch the helmet catch o/c 96.5 times in the next two weeks?
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:22 AM
This Super Bowl Match up is epic. Pats have to win this one.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:22 AM

I love that George Mason video people sneaking up to take Murray’s picture.

Go Giants!
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:24 AM
In terms of watchabity this is the best possible Super Bowl matchup from the remaining 4 teams
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:25 AM
watching to pro version of LSU/Alabama wasn’t intriguing?
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:25 AM
I feel bad for San Fran. Kyle Williams is a POS.

I the hope the aclu curb stomps those puritan pukes.
If it’s a private school I dont think it’s much of a suprise.

January 23rd, 2012 at 8:28 AM
Baltimore v SF? No thanks
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:29 AM
Do the 9ers even have wide receivers? 1 catch in the conf champ game is pretty remarkable
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:32 AM
You gotta cut Kyle Williams, right? I mean I know punt returner isn’t his normal job, but you cant have him in that locker room next year. If I played on that team I’d get sick every time I looked at him, probably for the rest of my life.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:33 AM
no. that’s dumb.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:33 AM
Lovely. Just lovely.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:33 AM
Neither outcome matched how I was rooting, but I enjoyed both games. Had a been a Raven or 49er fan, though, probably not so much.
also, I stand by the assertion that Flacco is terrible. He turned a 77 yard touchdown into a 42 yard gain because he can’t throw the ball going to his right, despite the fact that he’s right handed, and supposedly has a big, strong arm.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:36 AM
I think that should be the case of young William Cundiff. An average kicker like him missing a FG that’s made 95% of the time should send his ass home. God bless him.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:37 AM
I thought the same thing. The announcers just mentioned in passing that it was underthrown. Of course, they also said that one late Patriot catch on the sidelines was ‘clearly out of bounds’, when in fact it wasn’t out of bounds at all.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:37 AM
My god is that Hudgens girl hot. Holy moly.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:37 AM
High school football coach plays landlord to two stars, wins title, then kicks them out. [Star Ledger]
Dang, that is one messed up story. It appears no one’s hands are clean.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:37 AM
well, Jim Nantz led me to believe he was left-handed.
/blind sided
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:38 AM
Crazy how that looked out of bounds in real time, then CBS finally gets around to showing a good replay during halftime. Thanks, guys! Fox video replay is just light years beyond CBS.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:38 AM
If yesterday doesn’t prove that the Giants aren’t the luckiest fucking team out there, I dunno what will. Eli hucks so many interceptable balls that somehow never get picked off. It’s uncanny.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:38 AM
Now I’m not saying Flacco was the worst raven player on the field, because Matt Birk and Marshall Yanda were getting manhandled, owned, pwned, and driven backwards all game. Wilfork was the man of the match in that one.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:40 AM
he will destroy David Baas.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:40 AM
Flippin amazed at the pressure they were getting with 3-4 guys. Wilfork is 3 men in one.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:40 AM
I’ll speak for the city of Indianapolis and simply say “Go Giants”
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:41 AM
Not that you’d ever get the endzone camera angle (or heaven forbid, All-22) required to really know, but it looked like NY was running a shitload of 1- and 2-deep umbrella coverage with 6-7 guys in zone and daring Smith to pass. There just wasn’t much there.
And with NY’s front four being so disruptive, they can get away with it.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:41 AM
Nobody cares about pete rose’s exwife
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:41 AM
Joe Nocera continues to do great work writing about the mess that is the NCAA.
That is another messed up story. The mom’s ex ought to be beaten with a sack of doorknobs.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:41 AM
You won’t catch me knocking Eli, no sir. that guy played amazing. I bet he can barely move today. he took an old school beatdown from San Francisco’s biggest hitters.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:41 AM
Thomas declined to identify Smart’s fiance or provide details about how the two met, but wedding registries online at Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn.
/passes hat so the Commentors can send in a nice set of candelesticks
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:42 AM
Flacco made some fantastic throws yesterday. He does some real dufus shit out there, but he made enough throws to win that game. The real liability seems to be the offensive scheme.

I thought Crabtree was hurt or something, but no, that top 10 pick was out there not getting open.

LaDanian Tomlinson, for going on a bike ride in Foxborough while his QB played with a torn ACL.

He won’t be high on the list, but John Kasey usually gets passed over as a super bowl goat.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:50 AM
A fine choice. As is well documented, I don’t have much in the way of older family members. I do, however, try to maintain friendships with the older generation, with surrogate grandfathers galore. I have what I refer to as my “old guy lunch/golf group”. There are four of us, ranging from a blue collar tin snipper (who just passed at 85 and bore strong resemblance to JoePa) to one of the most successful car dealership owners in the country. After me, the youngest in this amazing group is 65. Amazing what I learn. It never ceases to amuse me when they ask my opinion on something.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:51 AM
Lotta V-shaped backs in the Giants post game, I was thinking we were gonna get some athlete peen.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:51 AM
in all fairness, foxboro is lovely that time of year.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:52 AM
Jackie Smith, Eugene Robinson, Barrett Robbins,
I’d hate to put Byner on there, dude balled hard that game just had that helmet go right on the ball. Like Thurman Thomas’s multiple Super Bowl no shows are worse IMO
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
there gonna be a post on the first chick to ski across antarctica solo?
59 days, over 1k miles…just fucking mindblowing.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Well-played, spencer.
I’m gonna try something different this year regarding SB hype. More hockey, more basketball, less football talking head blather. Who’s with me?
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
The gfriend and I were most interested in watching him keep getting back up. Dude was getting killed out there, with a great pic of him when he tried to call the timeout they didn’t have late in the game. Helmet twisted, jersey off the shoulder pads, mud on his side from getting driven into the ground.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
I think Ernest’s still in hiding today. Poor guy.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Didnt Kaeding miss a potential game tying field goal against the Pats just a couple years ago? I was getting deja vu at the end of this game, I swear it happened before.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:55 AM
no excuse.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:55 AM
i feel like he’s missed a BUNCH in the playoffs.

January 23rd, 2012 at 8:57 AM
Very very gritty performance by Eli in slop. However, he did get very fortunate with a lot of those throws he just put up for grabs.
Giants should be favored IMO. Indoors with Cruz, NY is going to toast the Pats secondary.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:57 AM
I believe he missed a game winner against the Jets in 04. Poor Marty Ball.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:57 AM
there gonna be a post on the first chick to ski across antarctica solo?
Wow. That is impressive.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:58 AM
that’s being nice…that dude’s seen way too much playoff failure to still be trying to get back into the game.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:58 AM
I don’t care what kind of public face he has right now. Rex Ryan has to be eating his heart out over this year’s matchup. Talk shit all year and you have to watch your biggest division rival play New York’s OTHER team.
Indy can’t be happy about this either. The guy who always beat Peyton Manning vs. Peyton Manning’s brother. And then Peyton leaving the team (probably) a few weeks later.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:59 AM
CJ, good call on Kaeding, Mr.-”Most Accurate-Kicker-Guy”, until a late-game situation comes up.
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:59 AM

I wish I could say a Lions player, but there have not been enough playoff opportunities to be able to have a goat.
How about Scott Norwood. His missed kick lost a bet with my ex-wife and I had to clean her car in the snow and cold the next day.

January 23rd, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Cundiff missed a FG for the Saints against the Bears in the 06 NFC Championship. If he made it, the Saints lead 17-16 late in the 3rd quarter. He missed and the game changed big time. The Saints wouldn’t have gotten their asses kicked if they wouldn’t have been playing from behind the entire 4th quarter.

If you had to watch the Giants game with my father-in-law, you’d be an Eli hater as well.
Did you know that every single time the 49ers attempted to pass, they held the Giants DL? But the refs never called it because it’s a conspiracy against NY.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:26 AM
Still don’t know how that team went 15-1 with a rookie QB, and how they lost in 97 to a Pats team whose best player in that game was Troy Brown.

The “I have no idea what just happened” look on Denny Green’s face after the Giants went up 14-0 in the first two minutes will never be matched.

Giants/New England again. Second time in 5 years? It just doesn’t get any worse than that. Fuck football…

this is why I hate watching games with a group of fans. even as a season-ticket holder, i get annoyed at games listening to fans bitch about calls (usually the alcohol plays a part in their insanity). the only thing i typically bitch about, is when the ref that is standing right in front of the play doesn’t call PI, but back judge does, and he is about 20 yards away.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:29 AM
Mike Martz coaches this team. Irrefutable.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:29 AM
I hate the Giants like none other, but Eli will never not get credit from me. He takes hits like a man, does the job and plays his ass off.

January 23rd, 2012 at 9:31 AM
Shocked by his performance. That said, I love how in the post game presser, ho told everyone that that’s how he plays every week. He managed to say that with a straight face.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:31 AM
i get annoyed at games listening to fans bitch about calls
listening to people bitch about calls and blame their teams loss on “the refs!” is excruciating. You can probably count on one hand the number of games that were actually decided by officiating all year, and I don’t think any playoff games have been this year.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:32 AM
why do you care what 2 or three (probably) dumb internet commenters think?
Im not gonna lose sleep over it, I was stating my opinion.

i like wilson…gets every last bit of production out of his talent. if adam scott or sergio had his work ethic and drive and mindset, they’d both have two or three majors and a whole lot more wins.

January 23rd, 2012 at 9:33 AM
You know who didn’t suck yesterday? Flacco. I was impressed with Joe fucking Flacco.
why? Because when his first read was open, he delivered the ball to his first read, the place he had been staring?
I counted two missed TDs (the 77 yarder that went for 42 and the pass that should have gone to Leach who was right in front of him that instead went to a covered tight end, which got defended) and some bad sacks.
I don’t think he’s able to remember more than 2 things at once. I don’t think he has multiple reads on plays. I think he has a primary and a checkdown.
And Cam Cameron should be fired retroactively to last year, with cause, and not paid for anything he did this year. Let’s throw another bomb with our inaccurate QB.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:33 AM
You know who didn’t suck yesterday? Flacco. I was impressed with Joe fucking Flacco.
Shocked by his performance.
He managed to sneak in his token late-game interception. It was just sort of made irrelevant by Brady’s subsequent pick. I was more shocked at how poorly he played.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:33 AM
Could NBC have wanted a better matchup? RATINGS!
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:34 AM
/Tom Brady sucked yesterday
he had a lot of super cool shoulder fakes to get his crossing receiver open, by getting old busted Ray Lewis to check up for a split second.
But that wasnt’ his best game. Him on the sideline all hang-dog was weird.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:34 AM
Flacco played ok, but he only threw it to a WR when they were wide fucking open. He still held on to the ball for 25 seconds.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:35 AM
flacco was impressive as hell finding his way out of pressure…problem was, he then had to throw the ball.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:35 AM

I kept thinking Brady “led” the Pats to the SB the same way Sanchez led the Jets to two consecutive AFCCGs yesterday.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Similarly, how many games will Ovi get for his charging/elbow to the head yesterday.
Should get 3 games. Not considered a repeat offender under the terms of the CBA, but Shanahan has shown he’ll take past offences into account.
Michalek should probably get a game or two as well.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:37 AM
I counted two missed TDs (the 77 yarder that went for 42
Not many QB’s can throw the ball 50 yards down the field as they’re running to their right and still hit a sprinting receiver in stride. He still completed the pass. Lee Evans holds on to the ball and he has the game winning TD drive on the road to go to the Super Bowl on his resume. Alex Smith should be object of most your scorn this morning, IMO.

January 23rd, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Ark – I have no issues with that game on Saturday. Very happy with the way UM fought back after looking overmatched and intimidated early. And Trey Burke’s willingness to take that shot at the end, have it go half way down before coming back out, was remarkable. As a freshman, he has some serious rocks.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Well to be fair, he didnt suck last week.

They have a habit of doing that, and it got them into trouble in the SB Giants 4 years ago. I hope they learned their lesson.

January 23rd, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Sounding more and more like Prince Fielder is going to be playing in the Washington area next year. Nats sound likely and even this happened 40 miles away.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Joe Flacco was supremely average. And that’s not enough if you want to beat the Pats to go to the Super Bowl.
Yeah he wasn’t terrible but he wasn’t a difference maker either. Whole Lotta Meh.

January 23rd, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Patriots by 3.5? I’d jump all over the Giants. What do you think Eli and Cruz are going to do to that poor white jewish guy the genius Belichick has in his defensive backfield?

Yes! Get him before he gets much heavier. Maybe he should become a carnivore…

Although, I can see it as the average person would jump all over the Pats just based on reputation.

It was real as of last nights Sportscenter.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:45 AM
That 3rd and 1 run from inside the ten in the 3rd quarter was a horrible play call. Made them setting for another FG. Otherwise Law firm was terrific. Run game is only effective when used against passing game being expected.
I’m just talking about yesterday specifically. He missed on some open throws and he never should have thrown that deep one to Slater. I understand going for the kill shot but that ball should not have been thrown with 2 DBs down there.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:46 AM
the way Michigan fought back was pretty impressive, especially on the road in that environment. Arkansas hit their first 11 shots of the game and the game was totally going the Hogs way. that should have been a 20 pt. win but Mich. made some nice adjustments to slow it down. they are going to be a solid squad. I thought that final shot was in.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:47 AM
Figured you’d be against it, SROD. Morse looked like a legit middle of the order hitter at 1B last year. Do they move him to the outfield? Unless it’s just a short term deal for Prince, I’m not sure how signing him makes sense with all the prospects that WSH has coming up.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:47 AM
The ratings from yesterday pretty much say all you need to know about QB rating:
Alex Smith: 97.6
Eli Manning: 82.3
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:48 AM
no, but probably because the courses get longer and faster and he’s at an unbelievably huge disadvantage to the “stars” like dustin johnson and rickie fowler who spray it all over the place like an out of control firehose.
i was watching the recap of the 1986 masters and LOVED LOVED LOVED it so much. the game was SO much better with persimmon and balata…greg norman was at a huge advantage because of his length off the tee but nowadays everyone crushes it. if you’re exceptional at driving, it’s not an advantage even tho i think it should be.

January 23rd, 2012 at 9:51 AM
That they don’t take into consideration the horrible throws Eli made that countless Niners dropped?
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:53 AM
They say what, exactly? Eli didn’t play poorly or exceptionally. He took a ton of hits, credit for that. He was gifted field position twice on the two most critical scores of the entire football game. Otherwise, he was pretty pedestrian. Credit to the San Francisco defense for making an otherwise solid quarterback look uncomfortable under pressure. Alex Smith, on the other hand, did what he’d done all season. Don’t turn the ball over, make sure to get positive yardage every down and play within his limitations.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Edelman’s going to cover the Giants slot receiver, right? Right?
Moleman, how bad did Liverpool shit the bed against fucking Bolton? They fucking suck on defense!
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Sounds like Buck is begging Angelos for money to sign Fielder. Good luck with that.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:55 AM
Ran into themselves so many times. Of course special teams get the brunt of it if you’re a sensible Niner fan but the defenders not realizing they were on the same team had to be so frustrating. Left 2 interceptions on the turf. Hurt their DB in the process of one of them.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:55 AM
They traded 4 of their top 15 prospects for Gio Gonzalez. Bryce will be up by August and Rendon will be around to replace Zimmerman if Zimm leaves (looks very likely).
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:56 AM

January 23rd, 2012 at 9:56 AM
I can’t believe Arrington went out with an eye injury. Throw a patch on that thing and get back out there.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Mark Wilson bows down to no man. Possible Ryder Cupper.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Because Comolli and Dalglish shit the bed in the summer window and are doing it again now. People can talk all they want about Carroll and Downing misfiring (granted Carroll and Bellamy worked very well in linkup play, Carroll is actually better moving the ball than most strikers but left to play alone doesn’t get to do it).
They went in to the season with no legitimate backup to Lucas. Spearing is competent, but he was not enough. With both of them hurt they don’t have a senior team holding player. Lining up with Gerrard and Adam in the center left acres of space between midfield and defense, nobody was there to shut people down. Adam needs to be dropped for Shelvey immediately.
January 23rd, 2012 at 9:58 AM
Really? That’s news to me. He was the first and only guy to say he wanted to be there a couple years ago. Is he starting to realize that the Yankees will be needing a 3B in the near future and there’s a giant paycheck with his name on it?

Sounds like someone who has been watching Bears QB’s their entire life. I guess I’m just used to watching a quarterback who can complete a pass when needed on third down.

Biggest bank account still in NY. I know it didn’t work for Cliff Lee but they’ve still got the most money.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:01 AM
I think the realization is that the Nats have a lot of infield prospects, and if they sign Fielder, they’ll eventually want to try to lock up Harper as well. The Werth contract is an albatross. Zimmerman will be coveted by a number of teams if he becomes a FA in 2013 including: Yankees, Dodgers (assuming new ownership), Phillies, Red Sox, Cubs, and several others I’m probably forgetting.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:02 AM
He is so good. He really is the best frosh PG in the country. BJ Young is great, but he’s not as true a PG as Burke. The guy is so smart, so impressive. I can’t wait to see the rematch next year in Ann Arbor.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:03 AM
I hope he doesn’t wear an eye patch, because then people will try and find out how tough he is, which means he’ll likely end up in a roadside ditch.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:03 AM
I think they really fucked up trying to “Tigerproof” courses by going to 7500+ yds. If more courses played like Colonial (short & winding), and forced players to work the ball consistently in order to win, I think the pro game would be a lot more enjoyable.
I don’t see the fun in forcing guys to land a 4i on a 150 sqft slab of concrete. Let them hit a short iron into that same area but force them to move the ball around.
It doesn’t help that the USGA allows shysters like TaylorMade to bring 47″ drivers to market.

Love the clip of Eli getting crushed, covered in mud, shoulder pads askew over his jersey, dazed stupid look on his face jumping up and calling a time out. Eli played great getting the fuck kicked out of him in the pouring rain.
Also with the new touch football QB rules I just enjoyed seeing a QB get knocked around and muddy as a reminder of how it used to be.

Boy does it. They combined for 31 last time around with more explosive offenses.
Are they trying to tell us they (Vegas) know that each team’s pass defense will be taken completely apart? I don’t buy it. Both teams will probably play umbrella coverage and generate pressure with the front four.

BB-Ref says Zimm is signed to $14M in 2013. So he could be in a new uniform for 2014. He’ll be 29 at the start of that season. Suppose that could be intriguing for the Cubs depending on if Vitters ever figures it out. At this point, that is looking very unlikely.
Would love a stand-up guy like Zimm on the Cubs roster.

We’ve been trying to figure out what we’re going to do for this. Obviously still having a Super Bowl party but none of our attendees have any interest in the game whatsoever. agreed with all of this.
the USGA and R&A have totally bent over for the manufacturers. they could’ve nipped this in the bud in the 90′s, and didn’t, and now they’re stuck tricking up courses just to keep the scores down.
there’s an easy solution that’ll serve both parties…make “tour” models different. cap the heads at 380cc’s, balls must have a wound core (they should be able to find a way to get a wound ball to perform well with new technologies) and no wedge lofts over 60*. done, done and done.

I can’t speak for SC’s motivations, but I have zero interest in the Giants or the Patriots. I pretty much despise all but a handful of fans of both teams. I would have been interested in the game had the 49ers won only because I think Jim Harbaugh is hot and like seeing Alex Smith succeed after all the shit he went through. But I don’t care who wins this game so I really don’t care about the game itself, regardless of the fact that it’s the “super bowl.”

And if you don’t care about the teams themselves, why can’t you watch and root for an entertaining game?
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:31 AM
It doesn’t help that the USGA allows shysters like TaylorMade to bring 47″ drivers to market
I’m okay with this. There are tall people who this helps. Just tone down the grooves and the ball. Done and done.
And some poor architecture on the tour courses.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:31 AM
can we really get this off of the “more leads” lineup? not only does the article not give a single bit of evidence to support their thesis outside of some flimsy anecdotes, but it’s so preposterously wrong in the comparison itself that the mere exercise renders his opinion invalid.

Rand Paul detained by TSA for refusing a pat-down after setting off a body scanner.
Hope he gets a full cavity search. Fucking Libertarians.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:32 AM
When you deeply despise both teams, only the meteor can provide satisfactory entertainment.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:33 AM
Tiger/Woodland will play in all four group matches. Book it.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:33 AM
I’m just glad that we avoided the Harbowl..would have really enjoyed the celebration of the Harbaugh family. In reality, Jack Harbaugh has managed to raise 2 excellent coaches, who are also 2 of the biggest sore loser, crybaby, douche bags in football.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:33 AM
not really.
and the grooves have almost no effect on the way the game is played at that level. it didn’t stop the bomb and gouge crowd and the distance off the tee keeps going up. GUYS HIT 3-WOODS OVER 300 YARDS NOW. that’s just not right, technological and physiological advancements aside.
plus, it’s rendered skill to around the greens only.
get rid of cavity backed irons too…those things are the fucking devil. a shovel isn’t going to play better than a blade if you’re skulling it or laying 3 inches of divot over your ball. skill should be the foremost determinant of the best golfers.

That’s why Zeus gave us sweet, sweet gambling and career ending injuries.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:34 AM
Huh?
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:36 AM
If you complain about the Super Bowl, I presume you are the killjoy at 4th of July fireworks, bachelor parties, and New Years eve. Learn to have some fun, willya?

I look Puerto Rican to you, mother fucker?
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:37 AM
woodland/DJ and stricker would be unbeatable.
if there were no restrictions, here’d be my US team…webb, tiger, stricker, DJ, bubba, david toms, zach johnson, gary woodland, brandt snedeker, nick watney, hunter mahan and anthony kim.
yes, anthony kim…and no phil. not only does phil have a poor ryder cup record, he’s such an outlier in terms of style to play, he’s a nightmare to pair up with in alternate shot. avoid him at all costs in the ryder cup, especially since there are enough bombers on the team already.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:37 AM
Exactly. Plus, I’m not the type of person that wants to watch every second of any football game that’s on TV regardless of the teams playing.
Also, before you lecture me on not being a “real” sports fan, I don’t give a fuck whether or not you care about my sports viewing habits. It doesn’t affect you in the slightest so shut up.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:40 AM
here’s a link debunking the myth that longer drivers are better for performance.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:41 AM
I’m just genuinely curious, and since you brought up your viewing habits unprovoked, I figured you would be open to discussion.
And if you despise both teams, then you root for them to come out and fall on their face so you can trash them the next day.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:42 AM
spence if they dial all the shit back, Gary Woodland and DJ are still going to be the longest guys.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:42 AM
Also, before you lecture me on not being a “real” sports fan, I don’t give a fuck whether or not you care about my sports viewing habits. It doesn’t affect you in the slightest so shut up.
Nobody is questioning your sports “fandom.” We’re just calling bullshit on your threat to sit at home petting your cat and playing monopoly by yourself while the rest of the country (and all of your friends) watch the game.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Yeah both of them will be watching the game.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:43 AM
agreed
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Then give an interview to Fox, and quit being such an asshole with the whole hand shake thing after games.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Do you realize how much of an asshole you sound like at times?
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:44 AM
and im fine with taht…greg norman had a HUGE advantage due to his driving and seve was long as shit, which helped him big time at augusta and at the opens.
but woodland and DJ would still have to play shots from 100 yards and in…and if they’re wasting strokes there, they’re negating their advantage with the driver.
by doing this, you’d be scaling back courses to 6,800 yards MAX…making it cheaper to maintain, setup and you won’t have narcissist rich guys DEMANDING us open level courses that are unplayable for normal golfers.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM
Do you realize how much of an asshole you sound like at times?
Do you realize how little I care what your opinion of me is?
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM
here’s a link debunking the myth that longer drivers are better for performance.
I was saying if you are 6 feet 6 inches tall or more, that longer driver is okay, hence why I was okay with it. I think its dumb to use one personally. But you cant go out and have people do a height check on the tee if they want to use one.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:46 AM
Yes. Now answer my question.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:46 AM
I made a one sentence comment about fast forwarding through all the football to watch the commercials. I can see how a bird brain such as yourself would immediately jump to the unoriginal conclusion that I’m “threatening” to stay at home for the super bowl to hang out with my cat.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:47 AM
I am looking forward to whatever batshit insane and wrong anti-abortion commercials are on the game this year.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:47 AM
It’s my super bowl and I will petulantly cry if I want to?
/Light beer is for girl men who are to far gone to notice their emasculating choices
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:48 AM
ah ok. but as a standard offering? shouldn’t be above 44″.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:49 AM
well local investors making unplayable courses is completely seperate from tour club regulation. Kind of have to let the market economy prove that.
Also, Mike Davis said he’s prepared for a really low score to win at Pinehurst. Pretty shocking.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:49 AM
Gambling, whiskey, and the possibility of Brady shredding his knee in warm ups.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:50 AM
I’m actually curious if any of the Presidential candidates choose to advertise and how much they spend.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:51 AM
local investors make courses are largely based upon what they see on TV. they want to live out their delusions of being a tour pro*.
*i too would like to live out these delusions
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:53 AM
Giants sign Kimo K. von Oelhoffen from retirement with a Carson Palmer knee incentive.
January 23rd, 2012 at 10:53 AM
im not that surprised, to be honest. they were saying the same thing about the open at torrey pines because of davis’ fair setup.
i LOVE mike davis…all he’s doing is to make sure the host course plays like it’s meant to be played. pinehurst is going to have AWESOME chipping areas, going to play firm, going to be a bear on the greens…basically EXACTLY what pinehurst’s reputation is as “the toughest course in the world from 100 yards in.”
i just hope davis gets more and more influence. he’d be a phenomenal caretaker of the game.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:05 AM
Bunch of whiners in here today because their teams lost. When you get to the point that you have to talk about “almost interceptions”, its time to have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up. You don’t hear Bengals fans claiming the Super Bowl because Joe Montana hit the Bengals DB with a pass in the stomach in the end zone.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:29 AM
damn. your memory is fucking great.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:48 AM
Figured you’d be against it, SROD. Morse looked like a legit middle of the order hitter at 1B last year. Do they move him to the outfield?
Sorry to answer so late, SC.
Actually, I’m not necessarily against Fielder signing with WSH. Morse is a good enough athlete to play LF (although he has bulked up some since his days as a shortstop (!) with the Mariners).
Fielder is one of the game’s premier sluggers. My concern is his gaining weight as he gets older.
OBTW – I am sure you all have covered it here in years past: how does a vegetarian get so dang heavy? What veggies make you that fat? I am baffled.
And, for philly, Zimmerman is a very good 3B. Smooth swing, good power, very good fielder. Something about his body language, though. He carries himself with a smug attitude, like his HOF bust is already completed. IMHO, he would be a good player on a World Series contender, but he isn’t a fiery Kirk Gibson-type guy who inspires others. He’s gonna get paid, though.
