Report: Oregon’s Chip Kelly Negotiating to Become The Next Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach
In a surprising move, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are preparing to hire Oregon’s Chip Kelly as their next head coach. According to the Tampa Bay Times, “both sides are hopeful an agreement can be reached in the next 24-48 hours.” One source close to Oregon was a bit less equivocal.
Kelly has no NFL experience, and he runs a college spread. That said, he’s also one of the smartest, most innovative minds in the sport. It would be intriguing to see him adapt his concepts, especially regarding tempo, to the NFL game. There’s a perception (though perhaps not a reality) that college head coaches don’t have success in the NFL. Jim Harbaugh seems to have shattered that stereotype.

Crazy that this guy was offensive coordinator at the University of New Hampshire just 6 years ago.

lol. Raheem is going to look like a competent NFL coach compared to Kelly who is going to be a fish out of water.

Guessing Harbaugh’s and Carroll’s successes are making NFL owners more willing to go back to the old college well.

I’m wondering how having Kelly as coach will affect Josh Freeman’s fantasy value.

This is my guess. First James leaves, and you can understand that. Then Thomas goes, and no one can understand that. Now CK may be out the door. The first thing that comes to mind is rats abandoning a sinking ship. Maybe it’s nothing. But the timing seems off.
