Roundup: Michigan 60-59 Michigan State, SOPA Protests, Rick Perry Pisses Off The Turks, Los Angeles Passes Condom in Porn Ordinance
Salma Hayek, the nexus where men’s and women’s taste in women meet. Sites are shutting down to protest SOPA. Sadly Awesomely, we will remain open for business today. Here’s a simple breakdown of why SOPA is bad news. Los Angeles puts the porn industry under wraps. The downside of Facebook’s suggested friends feature. Jerry Yang left Yahoo! Rick Perry claimed NATO ally Turkey is ruled by “Islamic Terrorists.” He would’ve been a fun president. Ghostwriter is coming out on DVD. When ego runs amok. Here’s one thing the Kardashian family won’t do for money.

Good job, Google and Wiki
I’m just putting this out there.

“His wife made the statement after swearing at him and calling him a narcotics salesman.”
Maybe it’s just me, but I’d find her use of the phrase “narcotics salesman” far more shocking than her use of “Imma burn yo ass!”

FSU Student takes a sober ride on the drunk bus.
What a boring story. Good idea but so slow, so terrible. I kept waiting for it to get better. I have news for this writer – this can all happen on some public transit at any time of day. It does not need to be the late hours. And I am not being snubby about public transit. THere are just some crazies on it at all times.
January 18th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
What the hell was the point of this? Drunk people are acting drunk, OH THE HUMANITY.
January 18th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
Here’s a simple breakdown of why SOPA is bad news
Don’t like censorship. Freedom of expression is a key part of what makes this country unique. Censoring the ‘Net would be disastrous.
I freely admit that creative entities should be able to control their intellectual properties, however. If you write a hit song or produce a great movie, you should get market value for your effort, without widespread, unchecked piracy of said property.
SOPA as written isn’t the answer, but something will be done down the road.

The complete series of Deadwood for only $60 last month disagrees with you.

If you want to know how much money you need to lock down Salma Hayek, I believe that’s the Venice Customs House in the background. Her husband bought it to house his private art collection.

SOPA is old media’s response at their inability to adapt to their rapidly declining status and selling power. Whoa for the fucktards at the RIAA especially.

I would not argue for/against any of the top ten, but I would state that customer sat surveys are not a true indicator of a business’s efficiency. There are a lot of people who want no service fees, no late fees, all prices reduced, etc, so they go angry on the survey b/c they are 3 months late on a bill and were assessed a late fee.

Yeah, but what if Ron Jeremy lives in LA? With the time he’d spend commuting the extra distance, he could have cranked out another 40 to 117 movies per year and then who’s the big loser in all of this? We are.

ego runs amok
Scarjo directs a 3rd-rate talents video and that’s ego amok? Nowhere does it state if she submitted for a dga application or if she even got paid, could very easily done that as a favor to a friend.
Go look at celebrity contract riders and then tell me this is amok.

I’m definitely a fan of her work.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
Wonder if Anonymous or LulzSec will go after the MPAA or RIAA anytime soon. Not that I advocate this type of stuff….but..
January 18th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
Flawless choice, Duff man. Salma works on any day. May have to YouTube the Desperado scene later.
I have a question for this masses this AM. Reactivated the fantasy baseball league yesterday and I have to decide on my keepers. One is definitely Joey Votto of Wayne Krivsky’s Rainbow Coalition [nods at MLJ members]. The other has me torn. The pitching categories for this league are W, ERA, WHIP, K/9, K, HRA, QS and SV. I have both Clifton Phifer Lee and Stephen Strasburg on my roster. My thinking is that Clifton, while probably the best pitcher alive, is 33 and probably on his way down as are the Phillies. At least close to it. The Strasburgler on the other hand is 23, has monumental upside and the Nats are on the way up. Was talking with Philly mantis and he went Clifton while our resident Chinese dinner dish was stuck on the same fence post as me.
Do I go with potential superstar for years to come or the proven commodity and try to just win now? I don’t believe Stras will be available again because someone will keep him after this year if I don’t retain him. Your help is appreciated even though I know you don’t care about my fantasy team.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
agreed. good start last night.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
chick with the cutesy voice creeped me out or annoyed me.
i kept waiting for my wife to slap the tv. but i think her voice was the last thing they were auditioning for. katie morgan. not sure how i feel about jeff stryker’s whole deal….fascinating, and the whole straight guy doing gay porn is the definition of cashgrab
January 18th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
I think that’s Katie Morgan you are referring to.
That’s the name I was looking for.
BTW, has anyone watched Dave’s Old Porn on SHO? I saw one episode, and it wasn’t too bad.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
Was referring to the other part where she is directing the film adaptation of a lost Truman Capote novel.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
was nice seeing desmond harrington in a guest spot, very solid episode.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
Win now. Lee is 33 not 43.
There will be another hot shot pitcher coming along that you can get if Lee goes bad next year. Too much you don’t know about Strasburg right now (like, for example, if he can get through a year with his elbow still attached to his arm).
January 18th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
this is amok.
and this is where you can find ookla the mok!
pssst, he’s the beast on the right
January 18th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Anyone watch Alcatraz? I have it on my DVR. Twitter had mixed reviews. I think I’m going to give it a run after the Blackhawks game tonight.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Look at it in a certain way my friend, Strasburg will maybe excel in two (k/9 & k) of those categories, whereas Clifton will dominate in at least four, if not six (W, ERA, WHIP, K/9, QS and K). Strasburg & Lee will be even in the HRA department. It’s your call. Strasburg will also have the 170 IP cap as well this year, whereas Lee will give you 200-240.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
Dewar- can you promise me that RAJ keeps Dom Brown at the MLB level this year? My issue with Clifton was run support last year. Tons of 1 or 2 ER outings and the Phillies didn’t put runs on the board. Plus Howard is out to start 2012.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
the Nats are on the way up.

I’m pro privacy but not pro-piracy. The RIAA is an unsympathetic target but I can’t just support blatant piracy.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
when in doubt, always go with the former Razorback. Clifton Lee it is.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
One hour of Justified did more for Desmond Harrington than the last 4 seasons of Dexter.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
He’s gonna have to dominate Spring Training, because the plan is apparently to have him in AAA all season (dumb dumb dumb). I’m getting to my wits end with him.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
I’ve watched a couple its entertaining background noise while you clean.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
And by “him” I mean RAJ. RAJ is starting to piss me off, with the Papelbon and the lack of spending in the draft.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
Anyone watch Alcatraz? I have it on my DVR. Twitter had mixed reviews. I think I’m going to give it a run after the Blackhawks game tonight.
Very heavy handed. I’ll give it another shot, but I’m not optimistic.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
the only place that will hurt you is in the W category though, and those will still come. 1 or 2 ER per outing still helps out a lot in likely 3 or 4 categories.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
I’m pro-piracy.

I think they are going to make Dom Brown earn it, but I think he’ll be up with the big club.
And I am not as worried about Howard. I like a Thome/Mayberry platoon to start the year.
Chase Utley’s health is my biggest concern as a Phillies fan.

Oh I just want them to make the MPAA and RIAA uncomfortable, that’s all.

I didn’t recognize him from anything else, but he nailed that part last night.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
he’s a really good actor, unless he really is stone faced and cold like that in real life.

January 18th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
Only fantasy baseball I’ve played was decades ago, the original “Rotisserie League” rules, where you had $260 to spend on 23 players. I assume this is not an auction league? Do they still run those?
January 18th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
SC: Depends what keeping them means. Do you give up a draft pick in the round you selected Lee? If there’s no penalty like that, I’d keep Lee.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
Very similar. They have joked about it on Justified. It would be his great great great great great grandson.

January 18th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Berenstain
disturbing
January 18th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
It was entertaining, not fantastic. All the background music reminded me of Lost. And then Hurley’s there, and theyre on an island. Im gonna give it a shot. Lead girl is pretty cute.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Basically, yes. But I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Our keepers work like 1st and 2nd round picks. So if I opt to only keep 1 guy, then I get to select in the 2nd round whereas people that kept two guys have to wait for their first pick to be in the 3rd round. If that makes sense.
Essentially it works like this for me. I finished 2nd last year, so I have 2nd to last pick in the first round (1st keeper) and 2nd pick in the 2nd round (2nd keeper unless I opt not to keep 2). The only guy that would be available at that 2nd round spot is Ryan Braun because the guy that has him already said he’s not keeping him. Don’t think I want to take 50 games off for a 2nd round pick.
I’ve also got Desmond Jennings and was thinking of keeping him but I dismissed that. He’ll be available in rounds 3-4-5.

the only person i didn’t automatically see as their Lost character was the guy who played Sawyer when i saw mission impossible.
it’s painful watching hawaii 5-0 with Jin and Locke, also Bernard guested and so did Ben Linus’ father. strange, strange times.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Was that the asassin who thought he was Johnny Depp? I had never seen him before.
It’s always fun to watch Ava nail stupid rednecks with frying pans.

Ben Linus is sooo Ben-ny on Person of Interest
January 18th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Terrance Howard
He is all sorts of crazy. His mgmt team has been able to keep the lid on him for a bit but eventually his eccentricities will all come out. People don’t want his drama on sets.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Hell, Braun might be there later than that with the suspension.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Definitely not a bad thing. And Natalie Zea crushes Anna Gunn in any comparisons.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Y’all associating people with their Lost characters is like how I am when I see people from Oz in other things. Except, you know, Oz was a good show.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
i’m in two leagues, one an auction keeper with an option to keep up to 6 players and another is a mandatory 12 keeper league snake draft (20 teams, its horrible).
give me auction any day of the week, snake drafts are incredibly boring to me now.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
It wasn’t the best show ever but I’ll give it a few more episodes. I liked the pilot better than the 2nd episode (it was a 2 hour premier). Hurley needs to get over his pussy-ness and then I’ll probably like it more.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
We’re going to try auction for football next year. This baseball league has been around since 2005. We’re kinda set in our ways with a snake draft. 12 team league, 27 man rosters. Snake draft already takes about 3-4 hours because we do it live instead of online. Usually take a break around round 12-13. Auction draft would take forever.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
He has played Quinn on Dexter for awhile now but much like every supporting character in Dexter they are completely forgettable.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
There’s a Craig James meme in there somewhere…..
January 18th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
i can’t watch that show.
it’s almost too bad about Michael Emerson being on that show since there were rumors about him joining true blood before person of interest was picked up.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
I didnt get how she didnt go immediately back to the bar to talk to her ‘uncle’ when she found out about the prisoners disapearance. It was obvious he knew something when he told her not to get involved. And lied to her about her grandfather being a guard.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
….so, just like in Lost?
That was my favorite show, but he was probably my least favorite character. I think that’s why I’m not in a big rush to watch Alcatraz.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
And one thing I hope for Alcatraz- unlike Lost, I hope they already have an actual plan as to what happened and why it happened. You can fill in all the prisoners stories as you go, but you better have a fucking pay off prepared.

January 18th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
The potential is there for a really cool show, but I’m not sure the lead actress is good enough, frankly. Conceptually it’s really cool.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
Speaking of shows come back… I love this Mad Men poster.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
It’s such a guilty pleasure. But that Subawy product placement in this week’s episode was sooooo cringe-worthy.

January 18th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
austion is great for football, only if you have a standard sized league and everyone attends.
if it’s too big and not everyone shows up, it’s a waste of time since autobidding destroys values on every player.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
Kill yourself.

You ever tried a dynasty league? We keep 15 players a year and have a 6 player minor league draft too, so we get the top prospects before they get to the big leagues.
/waits for Manny Machado

3-4 hours for a live draft? Our 11 team, 25 man roster (which the first 8 rounds are keepers) takes about 7 hours usually. Although this will be our 12th year doing it, and we have a $2500 pot.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
i watch the show b/c it brings back memories of my honeymoon in hawaii… and it’s a no-think show. but if you think too much, it’s really bad. like the mentalist and every other CBS show.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
Looking for some good podcasts. Comedy, news, entertainment…doesn’t matter (other than the Adam Corolla one as I know of that).
January 18th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
We do 4 rounds of prospects a year, so I too am waiting on Manny Machado. And Jacob Turner. Although I have had Posey, Buchholz, and Braun due to the prospect picks.

Comedy: Never Not Funny, best one there is.
Music: Rock Solid
Other: Mental Illness Happy Hour

I’ve wanted to except I found that with baseball, I can only do one league. TampaBo started a league last year and I just couldn’t keep up with that one and this one I’ve had for years. Baseball is a major time commitment for fantasy leagues. This league we have is competitive as hell but it’s also how I keep in touch with a bunch of my college buddies. I’ve got 4 guys flying in from out of state just for the draft. I’m the commish and our league is through ESPN so I do a daily “Yardwork” type league manager post that recaps scores and updates how everyone’s fantasy team faired the day before.
Yes, I totally nerd out on fantasy baseball. It’s my favorite fantasy league and I don’t spare any expense.

Speaking of shows come back… I love this Mad Men poster.
I saw that yesterday, well played.
The ending to season 4 was sooo good. Betty all scheming to accidentlly pop up at the house when Don meeting w/ the realtor.

Late to the party, great pic for the day. She doesn’t go wrong too much, especially with her dance, but the uni-brow look was a definite no-no
January 18th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
That was the other thing that bothered me. How did she not even talk to her uncle after she found out that info about her grandfather?
January 18th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
i can’t even remember what happened in the last season for the most part.

Jim Caviezel gets my blood flowing
Epic Mel Gibson impersonation.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
My wife loves Five-0 and The Mentalist. But she likes pretty pretty pictures and she thinks Simon Baker is hot.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
It’s hard out there for a pimp.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
I have absolutely no memory of that happening. This why 2 year hiatuses really piss me the fuck off.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
I honestly didnt even mean to do that
January 18th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
I’ve already started rewatching the whole series. I’m at the end of season 2. I watch it on my lunch at work.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Speaking of Tampa Bo, last night while walking at a local school track there was a women’s football team practicing. Turns out it was the Tampa lingerie football team.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
LOL @ your twitter avatar, CJ. Where was that taken?
January 18th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
i can’t even remember what happened in the last season for the most part.
Don popped the question to his hot secretary.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
Filmdrunk’s Frotcast. Juvenile and awesome.
Greg Proop’s Smartest Man in the World is the antithesis of the Frotcast.
Tony Kornheiser’s radio show podcast is my daily, must-listen and commercial-free.

Anyone watched House of Lies on Showtime? I feel I should be laughing more than I am….and I like Don Cheadle….but the supporting cast is super weak.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:00 AM
I watched an episode of Shameless the other night. It didn’t take. My roommate liked it but it just wasn’t for me. Usually like William H. Macy too.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:00 AM
End of Season 4, Don takes his new hot secretery to Disneyland, dumps the other girlfriend, gets engaged to the hot secretery, Betty accidently bumps into him at the house when Don is giving the keys to the realtor, possibly trying to scheme her way back, but Don drops it on her that’s engaged. Sterling-Cooper-Draper-Price has been slimmed down but alive, Draper ante’d up Pete’s capital share b/c Pete was short. Cooper walked out angry at Don for waging war on the Tobacco industry.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
No giveaways…..I DVR’d it last nite.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
I think I’m going to start doing that thing where I cancel Showtime until Homeland comes on and then canceling it again immediately after the season is over.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:01 AM

I was going to give it a shot because of Cheadle and one of my favorites Kristen Bell… but I have yet to hear anything positive from anyone who’s seen it.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
i really dislike that show, and i was optimistic about it when it started, made it about 10 minutes into the 2nd episode before turning it off.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
I watched an episode of Shameless the other night. It didn’t take. My roommate liked it but it just wasn’t for me. Usually like William H. Macy too.
Emmy Rossum is topless in it all of the time though. I’m not the biggest fan, but it’s on my DVR for when I want to kill an hour.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
Kristen Bell can still get it…but she seems to be mailing in this performance. Of course, my wife loves it….and every other show on Showtime, which is just a shitstain of a network for the most part. I don’t think I’ve watched any movie other than The Italian Job and Masters of the Universe on that network in 2 years.
I am pissed I didn’t get in on Californication though.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
i enjoy it, most characters i find interesting in some way, but if there aren’t any advancements in the characters this season i’m not sure i’ll keep watching it.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
Kristin Bell isn’t superweak but that shows problem is it is rich people scheming rich people. Not really entertaining. Shameless is the only comedy on Showtime. Don’t let those half hour shows fool you.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:05 AM
Do you, Don, take Megan, and her teeth, to be your wife?

haha. yeah, she’s got some chompers.
wondering if the season starts off with them married and her pregnant
January 18th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
i enjoy it, most characters i find interesting in some way, but if there aren’t any advancements in the characters this season i’m not sure i’ll keep watching it.
I hate Steve’s character (douche from War of the Worlds)… and I don’t really like William H Macy’s character all that much either. The show’s better when he’s not around. It’s a little too Brady Bunch: Poor People Edition for me. I know it’s supposed to be a comedy, but sometimes it seems like it tries to be serious, which makes it even less believable.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:08 AM
I am pissed I didn’t get in on Californication though.
Catch up on the first season over the weekend and then bail. You’re not missing anything after that. It’s arguably worse than Dexter now.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
Wally was just walkin around while I was getting a beer in the concourse. Couldnt resist.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
There’s this game I like to play….
Really enjoyed that episode last night. And the scenes from this season at the end was almost as exciting.
We’re assuming that Boyd baited and attacked Raylan on purpose, correcto?
January 18th, 2012 at 10:12 AM
The fact that she can speak French while in the throes outweighs her interesting dental work.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:13 AM
yeah, for the most part it’s OK. It’s not a gold standard show by any means.
I think you’re right about William H Macy’s character, i think he’s supposed to come off as being incredibly unlikeable
January 18th, 2012 at 10:13 AM
I remember that, but I don’t really remember what happened with Betty the cunt.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
She continued her cuntiness.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:15 AM
I remember that, but I don’t really remember what happened with Betty the cunt.
She didn’t come out and say it, but they made it seem like she’s jealous of Don and wanted to get back together with him (coincidentally showing up at the house when she knew he’d be there). She’s such a child.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:15 AM
There are some quality tits to be seen throughout the seasons but a google search should get you there.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:16 AM
Of course. Boyd always has a plan.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:16 AM
terrible acting is the only thing i remember about january jones.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:16 AM
Her and that dilweed that she married moved out and are moving to Rye, NY. That was pretty much where she left off last season, I think.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:17 AM
There are some quality tits to be seen throughout the seasons but a google search should get you there.
True. Does he ever end up banging Mia again? She had some fantastic titties.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
I thought it was impossible to make a woman who was cheated on repeatedly look unsympathetic, but January Jones succeeded. That may have been the goal, actually, who knows….
January 18th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
Steve is non existent this season so far and thats a great thing. Macy’s character does tend to drag the show a bit but kind of a necessary evil so that Rossum can come in and clean up shit.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:19 AM
Speaking of banging and titties….I watched Hall Pass last night.
No chance Owen Wilson doesn’t nail that insanely hot blonde at the end.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
Just had an epiphany… Lew Ashby is jck49erfan.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
I think sometime in season 3 when she makes her return he does. I dont remember much of the show just because it has always just been hungover dont want to leave my bedroom dvr mop up duty.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:21 AM

I like Lip’s character a lot.. haven’t started the second season yet, does his hot blonde gf make a return appearance? Rossum can get it.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:23 AM
Yea Lip is awesome. The blonde is back and still fantastically naked.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:23 AM
The Daily Show and Colbert were both fantastic last night.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:24 AM
The blonde is back and still fantastically naked.
oh yippeeee!
January 18th, 2012 at 10:24 AM
I think she has experience in real life, so, she’s not method acting here.
January 18th, 2012 at 10:31 AM
yeah, since it’s from don’s POV it’s easy to see how and why they would do that. and what better way than to get an actress who has very little range and can just replay her part from Love Actually.
January 18th, 2012 at 11:41 AM
Wow. Didn’t know that Frida was Flacco’s mom.
As does my sister. So I bought her Land of the Dead for Christmas.

Is it just me or is College Cheerleader Heaven one of the worst sites ever? I see lots of pretty cheerleaders on TV but none on their site
