Gone In 60 Seconds: Kia Super Bowl XLVI Ad Mixes Model, MMA, Mötley Crüe
One minute can become an eternity during a football game, especially if that minute is spent advertising a car and the game is the Super Bowl.
But viewers may not complain much while watching Kia’s 60-second commercial on NBC during Super Bowl XLVI – and some may even wish for a longer ad – which features super-model Adriana Lima in a barely-there bikini, MMA warrior Chuck Liddell (whose role was not clearly defined) and classic head-bangers Mötley Crüe turning the amps up to 11.
The fantasy scene all revolves around a Kia Optima, which is seen racing around a track while Lima waves a checkered flag and Mötley Crüe sing Kickstart My Heart: “When I get high/I get high on speed. Top fuel funny car’s/A drug for me. Always got the cops/Coming after me. Custom built bike doing 103. My heart, my heart/Kickstart my heart.”
Kia said a 15-second teaser would hit TV during the week before the game on Feb. 5 and that the entire commercial would air in theaters nationwide beginning Feb. 3.
Support also includes Facebook and Twitter, led by the home pages of Lima, Liddel and Mötley Crüe. Lead agency is David & Goliath, Los Angeles.
Other automakers that will run commercials during the game include Volkswagen, Audi, Lexus, GM, Chevrolet, Honda and Hyundai.
