Darron Thomas Leaves Oregon to Enter NFL Draft. Will He Even Get Drafted?
Darron Thomas is going pro. Oregon’s starting quarterback has hired an agent and will forgo his fifth season to enter the NFL Draft. He was 23-3 as a starter the past two years, leading the Ducks to two Pac 12 titles, a Rose Bowl win and an appearance in the BCS Title Game.
For Thomas: It’s an understandable personal decision. He has been there four years. He has a degree. Professionally, it’s bizarre. It’s not certain Thomas will even be drafted. NFL Draft Scout had him ranked as the No. 12 quarterback in 2013. At 6’3” 215, he’s bigger than guys like Russell Wilson, Kellen Moore and Case Keenum who should be late round picks. It’s possible the spandex-clad meat parade could improve his prospects. Though, that should be tempered by analysis of his accuracy and throwing mechanics.
For Oregon: This probably makes USC the Pac 12 favorite. We gave the Trojans a slight edge anyway as they’ll play the decisive game at home. Though, Thomas’ backup Bryan Bennett is faster, has a better arm and showed flashes last season. He has the potential to be a leap forward. He may not be a drastic step backward next season.

Isn’t Spandex Clad Meat Parade headlining the second stage at Lollapalooza this year?

Totally respect Oregon but this kid has zero NFL potential at the position. Are we sure he’s entering as a QB?

Following that awesome tradition set by Akili Smith and Joey Harrington, Thomas will be worthless.
Oregon Football. The mark of quality.

Giving an average system QB way too much credit. He’s lucky to have had LaMichael James and the other speedsters on his team.
