Tyler Wilson Staying at Arkansas, and the Razorbacks Should Be a Force in the SEC in 2012
Tyler Wilson, seen here eating grass after throwing a TD pass against Alabama, has decided he’ll remain at Arkansas for his senior season. This is good news for a) Arkansas, which is going to be loaded and poised for a run at the SEC crown and perhaps the National title, and b) NFL teams who think they’ll need a QB in 2013 (like maybe the Jets).
Losers here include SEC defenses, the Washington Redskins and the Seattle Seahawks.
Wilson, who emerged from Ryan Mallet’s shadow to throw for 3,638 yards and 24 TDs this year, has a cannon for an arm, is fleet-footed, and will probably be a Top 10 pick in 2013.
I like Arkansas a lot in 2012. Ty Duffy had them 10th in the preseason poll, but I think Arkansas beats Alabama in September (I think the Tide will lose to Michigan early, too), and the season will come down to that Thanksgiving weekend home game against LSU. Sure, Wilson will miss his top two targets (Wright and Adams graduate), but if Cobi Hamilton and Chris Gragg return to school, he’ll be fine. Perhaps more importantly, star RB Knile Davis will return from injury and the offensive line will return (it appears) four of five starters.

This is where we hope and pray that Jordan Jefferson stays at LSU to enroll in grad school.

Doubtful.

excuse me while I bet everything on ‘Bama.

what message board did you copy this from? you might want to link it or give the site some credit.

Bama and LSU will still beat them, but if by “being a force” you mean they’ll win 10 games and go to the Cotton Bowl, than yes, they’ll be a force.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:17 PM
Someone take the CFB stuff away from Jace.

They’re gonna lose one they shouldn’t lose this year…hopefully to Auburn @ Jordan-Hare.

Who is David Lessa?

Both Adams and Wright are badass playmakers. Childs was a great possession guy on top of that. They also lose 5 starters on defense, including Bequette, their ace pass rusher.

TBL’s R&D guy. Which judging by the site’s performance I’m guessing stands for ribs and doritos.

Hey, give Dave a break. He’s working hard on the mobile site.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:22 PM
It all depends on how good Knile is. He had Mallett and a stable of WRs that scared the shit out of people in his one year. He’s good, but I’m not yet sold on him being the savior Arkansas fans say he is.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:23 PM
Hey, give Dave a break. He’s working hard on the mobile site.
Oh, so that’s why I didn’t recognize his name.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:23 PM
Which is the true Arkansas team:
1. the one which was blown out by Bama and LSU, and needed a big comeback to squeak past 6-6 A/M?; or
2. the team that otherwise seemed to be pretty good?
I still don’t think this was the 5th best team in the nation this year.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:24 PM
I don’t think Wilson is that good. I’d compare him to the QB’s Petrino coached at Louisville. Solid but unspectacular.

I thought so at first as well, but I have a couple of friends in banking and this pretty much exemplifies their attitudes and outlooks to some degree.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:24 PM
Arkansas plays at South Carolina, at Auburn and at Miss State along with Texas A&M, LSU and Bama at home. That’s a lot to ask for them to run that table with less than 2 losses.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:25 PM
I agree, actually. Maybe it’s because I only saw him play Bama, LSU and K-State, but he didn’t look very good in those games.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:28 PM
Yes, Wilson = Bryan Brohm 2.0.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:29 PM
I do agree 100% with this one:

I do agree 100% with this one:

Absolutely. My boss asked all of us to put money into a central fund to celebrate everyone’s birthday during the year. I didn’t ask for or receive any recognition of my birthday the last two years and that’s the way I like it. But now I have to put money in so that pre-menopausal women can feel good about themselves and eat shitty cake one day a year? When did birthdays become so special?
January 13th, 2012 at 12:32 PM
I would have taken Bama, LSU, OKST, Oregon, Stanford, USC and Wisconsin over them.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:33 PM
Exactly.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:34 PM
Cobi already said he’s staying and I haven’t heard anything about Gragg leaving.

I fucking despise office politics. Even more than I despise people over the age of 21 that make a super big deal out of their own birthdays.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:34 PM
Not to mention needing comebacks to beat Vandy and Ole Miss.
Maybe. It was kind of a down year in CFB overall. Okie State struggled with A&M and K-State as well.

It’s one thing to rate Arkansas so high…we disagree, but I certainly can see the justifications for doing so.
But spouting off about how the Redskins and Seahawks are losers because Wilson is returning to school…say what????? There was ZERO chance he was getting drafted that high…there isn’t a single Arkansas fan who thinks he would or should be drafted that high…hell, Tyler Wilson doesn’t even operate under the absurd notion that he might be drafted this high (presumably he wouldn’t be returning to school if so).
January 13th, 2012 at 12:36 PM
I think most Arkansas fans (myself included) think he is so good because of the other RB’s that have played in his absence and shown that they aren’t that good. with that being said, it’s tough to not call him a top-tier RB based on what he has shown so far.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:38 PM
did she ask everyone to do it, or “ask” everyone to do as they have no choice in the matter.
lobby for an opt out, if you don’t want your birthday represented and don’t want to partake in the festivities you don’t put in a share and everyone else’s is lowered.
best case you’d have 3 cake loving people with bad sugar fixes paying for their own cake and shit.
worst case you save some bucks and become an outcast.

8 games with Mallett and those WRs isn’t that big of a sample size.

My office more than 50% female, so if someone does something to piss them off, like not contribute to their cake fund, they never ever confront the person, they just get passive aggressive and talk behind that person’s back.
I’m hoping that I’m out of here by the end of the calendar year.

January 13th, 2012 at 12:42 PM
I agree, but it’s all there is so far. He did it against some legit defenses as well (S. Carolina, LSU and OSU).
January 13th, 2012 at 12:43 PM
Jose, if that LSU game is in Fayetteville next year like they say are you going to try to make an appearance? either that, or for the Bama game? the atmosphere at the Bama game in 2010 was un-fucking-real.

Not all overweight, but mostly middle aged and either divorced or on their second (or third) marriages. Some are in their 40s. There’s two who are about my age but both are married and one just had a kid.
But yeah, I’d say we have pretty similar offices.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:48 PM
GD that sounds miserable. there are 4 women in my office of about 20 people and that is plenty.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:50 PM
OK St had to squeak by 6-6 A%M, as did every other team that beat them. Bama just blew out LSU a couple days ago, and LSU blew out everyone except Bama that they played, so if you don’t think Arkansas was the 5th best team it should probably be because they had to squeak wins out at Vandy and Ole Miss before getting back on track vs. South Carolina.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:50 PM

Replace McDonald’s with Whataburger and I’d swear we work in the same office. Is she really fat, has brown hair, wears glasses and always likes to tell people how long her “to do list” is so she can feel important?

My dad has been on the phone with every contact he knows trying to gather up a group of people for the LSU game right now, be it in Fayetteville or not. I think I’d rather go the Bama game though to be honest. I’m optimistic, but I’d hate to prepare for the LSU game before the season and expect to go into it with 0 or 1 loss, and let the season play out and maybe end up with 2 or 3 losses going into that game, you know?
January 13th, 2012 at 1:07 PM
makes sense. let me know what becomes of it, that Bama game 2 years ago was the hardest ticket to come by around here that I remember, but I can see what I can do about finding any extra tickets if y’all do decide to come. TBL meet-up in Fayetteville.
maybe BBOB will even make an appearance.

Speaking of Arkansas, saw Paradise Lost 3 on HBO last night about the West Memphis 3. What a fuk’d up criminal justice system. Same can be said for just about everywhere though.
January 13th, 2012 at 1:24 PM
For sure. I’d feel like such an ass if Arkansas went undefeated going in to Thanksgiving though, and I talked my dad into the Bama game. But I really just hope he gets tickets to either/or. I haven’t seen Arkansas play in Fayetteville since the Matt Jones era.
January 13th, 2012 at 1:47 PM
Arkansas doesn’t play any Defense. They will be the 3rd best team in the SEC West again.
January 13th, 2012 at 2:29 PM
new D coordinator already in place, defense will be much improved next year.
January 13th, 2012 at 2:32 PM
So it’s the defensive coordinator who gave up all those points?
January 13th, 2012 at 4:19 PM
That’s just cruel.
January 13th, 2012 at 4:22 PM
SEC West should be beastly again in 2012. Bama reloads. If Roethlisberger Jr. or Kiel shape up fast at QB, LSU should be a better team than in 2011. And Arkansas, as always, could go 14-0 or 9-5; you just never know with the Hogs.
