Auburn hired a vigorous, striking young man to coordinate its defense. Oh wait, that’s 52-year-old former Falcons and Georgia DC Brian VanGorder. Here’s what he looked like in 2009. Here he is again in 2010. At his present rate, he’ll morph into David Cassidy by 2013. He’s a slick leather jacket away from being Chizik’s wingman.

VanGorder may not have mastered the plausible salt and pepper look, but he was quite a good defensive coordinator the last time he was in the SEC. His most important quality will be not being Ted Roof.
