Alabama’s Trent Richardson, Dre Kirkpatrick and Dont’a Hightower Leave For NFL Draft
After winning the BCS title, three Alabama underclassmen have declared for the NFL Draft. Heisman finalist running back Trent Richardson departs, as do cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick and linebacker Dont’a Hightower. Safety Robert Lester will stay for his senior season. That makes three fewer kids on Nick Saban’s hit list.
Richardson is just a physical freak, probably the most impressive running back to enter the draft since Peterson in 2007. Surely, he will be able to provide for his family. Kirkpatrick is the best cornerback in the draft after Morris Claibourne and could also be a top ten pick. Hightower could be a first rounder as well. The Tide also lose seniors Mark Barron and Courtney Upshaw to the first round. Defensive tackle Josh Chapman should be a second day pick.

Gentry also graduates and he was a beast against LSU. Alabama reloads better than anyone, but they have to go to LSU and Ark, though they avoid UGA and SC from the East. I’m thinking 10-2. As for LSU, they lost Brockers and Claiborne, and while they’re loaded on defense, if Matthieu is their No. 1 corner next year, they’ll be much weaker in the secondary as he’s not all that special as a cover man. They’ll still be lights out on the DL, though.

I would have went with McFadden.

Well husker, one thing about Bama next season is they are going to absolutely throat fuck Michigan

Indeed.

Looking at the last 10 or so Top 15 picks that were RB shows how you should not spend a pick that high on one.
AD is the only one who has produced and stayed with the team that drafted him. The rest have been cut, injury prone or crappy.

the SEC west is starting to look all Razorback next year.

I admit, I thought it was a great pick at the time, but wow. Rumor was that San Diego wanted him, so Denver picked him early to keep him away from ‘em. Which was…well…stupid.

I just read the comments on the Garcia post. I can’t believe there is a commenter here who hates Spencer. I thought it was a proven fact that he and Jersey are the two most beloved commenters in the history of TBL.

Are you confusing spencer with SROD?
January 12th, 2012 at 5:26 PM
I thought Alabama boosters were already providing for Richardson’s family

Not so fast my friend.

How did you type that while ski poling those two? jeez.

The two most beloved commenters in the history of this place are a music snob/tOSU fanatic and a diehard Jets fan from New Jersey?

That’s not the spencer I know.

January 12th, 2012 at 5:33 PM
Good man.
Though Trent shouldn’t go in the top 5
January 12th, 2012 at 5:36 PM
I have a feeling that’s who the browns are gonna end up taking if Blackmon isnt available (and they don’t do something stupid like trading up for RG3)
January 12th, 2012 at 5:36 PM
I already can’t wait til September. I really, really hope DGB comes here. My optimism would reach unprecedented heights.

If you’re not familiar with Vic Colfari, his engager, by this time, he might be the trolliest troll this side of Sunnyside/yougottagoMikeQuade. Spencer took the bait and then a spit-filled back and forth argument ensued.
January 12th, 2012 at 5:41 PM
In Saban I trust. They’ll be ruthless once again next year.

Wow. Vic Colfari was getting his Bromes on!
January 12th, 2012 at 5:42 PM
Nah, Blackmon should be there. Luck, Kalil, and RGIII I think are going in the top 3, I think somebody is gonna trade up for one of those guys. Even if Cleveland did take Trent would you want that? I don’t think I’d want my team to take a RB in the top 10 pretty much ever.
January 12th, 2012 at 5:42 PM
I usually don’t get all that excited about recruits, but seeing that catch he made in the all-star game the other day, dude is the real deal.

I’m actually not even 100% sure that Sunnyside is also yougottagoMikeQuade, but I think someone confirmed it once. And it seems pretty logical.
January 12th, 2012 at 5:48 PM
Before Taguchi’s ban he had to have had the highest approval rating.
January 12th, 2012 at 5:55 PM
Sunnyside was Illiniman and now MikeQuade. This guy pisses everyone off he has to change his name every other month.
January 12th, 2012 at 5:55 PM
Has to be.
January 12th, 2012 at 5:56 PM
The only person who disliked Taguchi was JMac. How else to explain his continued assertions that Taguchi wasn’t banned, when the guy hasn’t been able to comment here from his home computer in two years.
“Lifetime pass” indeed.
January 12th, 2012 at 5:57 PM
Oh I guess irishmafia briefly didn’t care for Taguchi. But I think that got patched up (maybe, can’t remember).
January 12th, 2012 at 5:58 PM
Vic Colfari reminds me a little of Ron Artest 3 Money, except Vic doesn’t seem to talk about basketball.
January 12th, 2012 at 6:01 PM
Free Elin Woods.
January 12th, 2012 at 6:03 PM
Jersey is the most liked and it’s not close.
January 12th, 2012 at 6:20 PM
No, I wouldn’t want them to do that. They do need playmakers on offense but I would rather them look at wr and find a rb later in the draft. If StL doesn’t trade out of their pick I worry that they take Blackmon to be Bradford’s main target.
January 12th, 2012 at 6:22 PM
I thought that was dirt?
January 12th, 2012 at 6:25 PM

Pretty sure it was Taguchi.

Roll Tide. Do see a down year in 2012, though by Bama standards (with the recent success) they’ll be disappointed with 2-3 losses that I see.
I still think they reload, but it will in 2013 that they will be shooting for. Where’s the Bama/UM game next year? is that in Dallas Stadium?
Will be a nice win if they can get some assemblance on DEF. McCarron will be solid, Lacey will be back (top heavy runner with some power) and don’t forget Dee Hart will be back after the ACL. WRs will need to step up as they did in the BCS game.
Roll Tide

and don’t forget Dee Hart will be back after the ACL.
I saw Dee Hart in uniform in the BCS title game. Could he have played if needed? Not looking forward to a former UM commit running through an over matched Michigan D-line and into a slow secondary.

that’s what I was saying about Greg Childs before the season, I have yet to see the same guy since he went down. Knee injuries are a bitch
