Floyd Mayweather Jr. Calls Out Manny Pacquiao on Twitter, Might We Get The Fight On May 5th?

We should find out soon if the long-anticipated fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will happen in 2012. In a recent interview with PhilBoxing.com, Pacquiao said he wants the fight and put the pressure on his promoter, Bob Arum.
“I’ve said this over and over before and I’m saying this again,I want Floyd Mayweather Jr. to be my next opponent and I haven’t changed my choice despite recent developments.”
“I am meeting with my promoter, Bob Arum on Tuesday and I will insist that the fight with Mayweather be given the reference than the four others in the list I will fight next.”
Today, Mayweather tweeted that he wanted to fight Pacquaio.
@FloydMayweather: Manny Pacquiao I’m calling you out let’s fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see.
@FloydMayweather: My Jail Sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk.
According to reports, Bob Arum will meet with Pacquiao today to discuss his next opponent. Aside from Pacman dropping the Mayweather gauntlet, Arum will have proposals for fights with Tim Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Lamont Peterson and Miguel Cotto.
Back in November, before his latest brush with the law, Mayweather sounded like he wanted the Pacquiao fight. With Mayweather having reserved May 5th at the MGM Grand, it’s either going to happen then or not until sometime in 2013. Back in December, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was sentenced to 90-days in jail for domestic violence and harassment. The sentence was originally supposed to begin on January 6, but the date was pushed back to June 1st so that Mayweather could fight on May 5th. Mayweather’s lawyers argued that the fight meant millions of dollars to the Vegas economy and the judge agreed.
Of course, Bob Arum doesn’t want this fight at the MGM Grand. He wants a whole new (temporary!?) arena built so they can maximize the live gate. Obviously, with Mayweather’s sentence stretching from June to August, the fight won’t be packing an arena – permanent or temporary – anytime in late 2012. I guess the point of this post is that things still aren’t looking good.

Fuck Mayweather. He’s a coward.

note: I was the one who added the “frauds” tag.

Professional fight dodger.

If this was really on the level, I would definitely buy a PPV.
Mayweather needs to get off his butt, get his legal troubles resolved, and get ready for a butt-whipping.

Have they never heard of Jerry World?

No.
Yes.

I’ll be backing Mayweather. I think money mayweather pounds him.

What payaso said…sounds like he gets down with the Cinco de Mayo.
Put your roach stompers on, crack open a case of Bud Light…shit, I wish Pacquaio was Mexican so my stereotypes would apply. Oh well.

You ever fess up to the amount wagered on your Bama win yesterday? I’m guessing a solid grand.
Money Mayweather can pound him, sure, but that’s the point, Manny ain’t gonna go away, and in those late rounds when Floyd is used to coasting, Manny will catch him.

If he really wanted to fight, we would be finding out about it on TV, not through his twitter account. Book a venue, contact Manny’s agent, show people you’re serious, douche.

I just want to see some fustigating.

pacman’s being the pussy.

Anybody ever been to a big fight?
I have some high roller friends, or at least my friends have a friend who is a high roller, and they went to the Mayweather/Hatton fight. Said it was amazing. Ringside seats. Stayed in a suite somewhere swanky, accidentally walked into Tiger Woods’ room (though there was apparently nobody in there but body guards).

He has the venue booked already. He doesn’t contact Manny’s agent because they do not get along. Manny needs to accept the fight and stop ducking the ass beating he is gonna get.

Can all posts here end like this, please?
January 10th, 2012 at 5:46 PM
Everyone knows Ms. Pacman rules that relationship.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:46 PM
For domestic violence?
January 10th, 2012 at 5:48 PM
pacman’s being a diva pussy in this whole ordeal, but where he grew up has to be WAY tougher than an american prison.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:48 PM
Left hook, right hand.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:48 PM
And by “ass beating he is gonna get” do you mean Floyd barely outpointing him with jabs and running the entire fight?
January 10th, 2012 at 5:51 PM
Right boot?
January 10th, 2012 at 5:56 PM
Props to whoever hacked Mayweather’s twitter account to force the issue. Hopefully they get this figured out and locked in for the 5th of May.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:56 PM
Bob Arum and whoever is running Golden Boy these days are lying pieces of shit scumbags who represent everything that is wrong with boxing today and can die in a fucking fire.
January 10th, 2012 at 6:05 PM
Fixed.
10 times yes. Fuck Arum. Fuck De La Hoya. Boxing really needs to ditch promotion in general and take a look at the UFC’s formula. One governing body that makes the fights, one belt per weight class, no bullshit.

I love fights like these. They are like a commenter ethnicity census.

Fuck you holmes
January 10th, 2012 at 6:17 PM
Yeah, then the only ones who would lose out are the boxers.
January 10th, 2012 at 6:54 PM
Please do not call him that. His nickname is Pretty Boy Floyd which people bestowed on him when he was younger because nobody could ever hit him. He named himself “Money” and the first and only rule of nicknames is that you can’t give yourself a f****** nickname.
Additionally anybody who thinks Mayweather gets whipped is an idiot. He is a preening douche of the highest order but the man can box his ass off. The only way Pacman wins this fight is by being awarded rounds for being the aggressor. He just isn’t going to land enough clean shots to knockout or beat up Floyd.
January 10th, 2012 at 7:11 PM
I still like Manny’s chances. He throws at too many angles.
January 11th, 2012 at 12:11 AM
Floyd!
