Ballin’: Knicks’ Feed Chandler & Amare, Beat Bobcats
New Orleans 94, Denver 81: Can you handle the Kaman-Okafor frontline? Sounds like a diverse, deadly political tandem. Carl Landry scored 21 points off the bench – including a thunderous facial on Nene – and the Hornets are 3-6. Eric Gordon’s still out (knee). The third former Clipper playing for the Hornets, Mr. Aminu, thwarted a Nene dunk attempt.
Toronto 97, Minnesota 87: Remember, a loss for the Wolves (3-6) is a win for the Hornets. Ricky Rubio only shot 2-of-9, but did have 10 points and six assists. Minnesota’s 33 percent shooting could be attributed to no Michael Beasley (foot), but Kevin Love (13 points, 14 rebounds) only shot 3-for-16. Andrea Bargnani scored 31 for the Raptors, and Amir Johnson shook off the flu to tally 19-11. Watch Anthony Randolph dunk here and struggle with the landing, Chris Bosh-style.
Chicago 92, Detroit 68: Boozer scored 23, Rose scored 22, and the Pistons, perhaps the worst team in the East, dropped to 2-7. Poor Lawrence Frank. The bottom of the East is really, really terrible – Washington, New Jersey, Detroit and Charlotte are abysmal and each will struggle to win 15 games. Milwaukee is 2-6, but they’ve battled injuries and should turn it around.
New York 91, Charlotte 87: The Knicks (5-4) got payback for an awful loss last week on the strength of 25-12 from Amare and 20-13 from Tyson Chandler. Yes, pounding it inside more makes sense than letting Melo (6-of-18; he’s shooting 44 percent from the field and 37 percent from three this season) jack up contested shots. The Knicks shot 30-of-40 from the line; the Bobcats only made 34 baskets.
Philadelphia 96, Toronto 86: Quietly, the 76ers are 6-2, winners of five in a row. Just like last year, the keys are balance – nine players played between 17 and 39 minutes – and depth – six players in double figures, led by Iguodala’s 20. The 76ers will be a curious postseason test case – can a team without a superstar do damage in the playoffs? (Denver will be a similar test case in the West.) For Indiana, Danny Granger sat out with food poisoning.

Good point. With him, they would be at 25%. As soon as that guy realizes he needs to go to the rim more, the better he will be.

Would Dwight Howard really not want to play in Philly long-term?
Orlando demanding that the team also take Hedo’s contract would be difficult, but Philly would be a great landing spot IMO.

The Wizards are way worse. I don’t think they hit double digit wins.

Was at the UC last night, highlight of a boring game was the White Mamba getting 2 minutes of burn and hitting a sweet step back jumper. Funniest part was when he was brought in. Thibs called down the bench for Boozer, who was confused but started taking off his warmups, then Thibs starts laughing like a maniac and tells Mamba to get in the game.

Watched the Bulls during halftime of the BCS game. Detroit is truly awful. New Jersey and Washington sound like they are worse. It was nice to see Thibs finally lower Rose and Deng’s time on the floor. He’s so comfortable with both them out there but with the schedule this year Luol can’t be playing 44 minutes a night.
If I were a Heat fan,
I shoot myself in the faceI’d be worried about the same issues with LeBron and Wade.January 10th, 2012 at 11:11 AM
Beasley’s too soft. Also, didn’t the TWolves 2nd team (Rubio, Barea, Darko, Randolph, Williams) look 100 times better than the starters?
(I can’t believe I watched a decent chunk of a Timberwolves game last night.)

Food poisoning = Bottles & Models??
The Nets have to be the worst team in the NBA. Hard to see Deron resigning with them for a long term deal at the moment.
Who would the Sixers have to part with to get him? Lou, Hawes, Turner and Young?
January 10th, 2012 at 11:12 AM
Someone needs to tell that guy to stop chucking 3′s.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:14 AM
they stink, but I’ll second what Jim said, Wiz are the worst.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:14 AM
Iggy, Hawes and picks if it’s straight up. If Hedo has to part of the deal somehow, things get complicated.
Randolph looks like he cares again and seems to really want to compete for playing time which makes things all the more complicated for that roster.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:15 AM
I like Iggy and his defense. Hawes has been playing tough.
But I’d drive both of them to the airport myself if they got traded for Dwight Howard.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:16 AM
It will be nice to have Bogut back from whatever ‘personal issues’ he had to deal with in Australia.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:17 AM
Beasley’s too soft. Also, didn’t the TWolves 2nd team (Rubio, Barea, Darko, Randolph, Williams) look 100 times better than the starters?
They did. Personally, I go with Rubio, Barea, Beasley, Love, and Williams as the best group together. You can sub JJ for Luke, but everytime I seem Luke and Rubio together, the team seems to look out of sorts.

The Bulls biggest issue to solve this season is figuring how to get Noah and Boozer to co-exist on the floor. It is starting to appear like they truly do not like each other. They fought over a rebound last night only to have a Detroit player scoop it up and put it back for 2. Joakim has been pretty bad so far. They need him to turn it around and fast.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:18 AM
I would think Orlando would try and get one of the Sixers’ young guards as well. Dwight would be a perfect fit with them.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:22 AM
Joe D needs to trade whatever he can for Cousins and then just roll out Monroe, Knight and Cousins. 3 on 5, that would ensure being the worst in the league.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:25 AM
That’s who I’d go with too, you’d have to think it’s only a matter of time before Rubio and Williams are starting. Hopefully.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:27 AM
I’ve watched all their games this year because basketball is back in Minnesota. I do not call anything Tubby puts out as basketball.
They did. Personally, I go with Rubio, Barea, Beasley, Love, and Williams as the best group together. You can sub JJ for Luke, but everytime I seem Luke and Rubio together, the team seems to look out of sorts.

It sounds horribly forced and two decades late.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:45 AM
They were 2-0 and waxed the Celtics while Gordon was playing. They have been a hot mess since.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:46 AM
What’s the deal with lotto picks riding pine? I’m beginning to suspect they all kinda suck.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:49 AM
what else is new that is better?
January 10th, 2012 at 11:52 AM
They might as well let him walk rather than deal him for that poo poo plater.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:58 AM
Brand, Iggy, Jrue Holiday, and picks for Dwight, Hedo, and Duhon?
January 10th, 2012 at 12:00 PM
Getting dwight wouldn’t make up for getting the carcass of Hedo and a mediocre backup guard
January 10th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
I fully expect the 76ers to win the atlantic this year. Celtics don’t have enough but should still make the playoffs. Oh, and the Knicks blow
January 10th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
So you turn that down if you’re Philly? It’s debatable who says no to that deal.
January 10th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Gotta eat some shit to smell a rose.
/or something
January 10th, 2012 at 12:03 PM
I don’t know who says no, either, Doc. Jrue Holiday is really good. Brand’s contract is shitty, though.
January 10th, 2012 at 12:05 PM
True, but it’s one year less than Hedo’s terrible contract. If Hedo has to be involved, I think you might have to bring in a 3rd team.
January 10th, 2012 at 12:08 PM
Losing Duhon/Hedo would be great for the rebuild. The problem is Otis wants to maintain some relevancy instead of just breaking it down and starting fresh.
January 10th, 2012 at 12:09 PM
you mean he doesn’t want to build around Big Baby Davis?

76ers are pretty much playing the best basketball in the NBA right now. Pretty enjoyable team to watch.
This is probably my only complaint about Rose. I much prefer when he pulls up for that 16-18 footer, and I believe he hits that far more often. Obviously, every time he’s not doubled, he should be getting into the paint. Regardless, the Bulls are still looking pretty good.
January 10th, 2012 at 12:46 PM
Its cool that the Raptors were able to play 2 games on one night.
