Back in September, some jerk threw a banana at Philadelphia’s Wayne Simmonds during a shootout attempt. A week later, Ontario police charged 26-year-old Chris Moorhouse of London, Ontario with “engaging in a prohibited activity under the provincial trespassing act.” The charge carried a possible fine of up to $2,000. Today, the banana hammer fell and Moorhouse was fined $200.

Moorhouse’s lawyer, Faisal Joseph, has said his client didn’t know hurling bananas at black athletes could be seen as hateful.

That’s awkward. Next time, Moorhouse will think twice before engaging in a prohibited activity under the provincial trespassing act.
