A certain curly haired writer in Boston would assert otherwise. As would a couple blowhards at the LA Times. And a convicted child toucher as well from the Philly Daily News.

Fielder, Morse, Zimmerman, potentially Harper and Ramos (if he doesn’t get kidnapped again) could be a formidable lineup.

also, not that i’m a fan of jd drew, but his grand slam was pretty important in 2007. it doesn’t make up for his otherwise lack of performance, but he wasn’t as bad a free agent signing as people would think.

People need to get over JD Drew. He’s a good player, has always been a good player and will never be a great player. But just because Bill Simmons hates his demeanor doesn’t mean he can’t play. 9 JD Drews would still beat the shit of of 9 David Ecksteins everyday and twice on Sunday.

It was actually over 600 games and I’d submit that his 08-09 years were pretty decent. 19 and 24 home runs, OPS+ of 137 and 133. Let’s please avoid gauging worth on AS Game appearances though.

what’s it to the fan if the owner spends that kind of money? unless you drape yourself in head to toe in team gear, spend massive amounts of money on tickets and merch, you aren’t contributing a dime to the salary.
