Bribing Police With Dolphins-Jets Tickets Doesn’t Work
Eric Scott Topalian, 23, of Boca Raton, Florida was pulled over Saturday and police found him to be in possession of controlled drugs without a prescription. To help diffuse the situation, Topalian offered the police officer two tickets to today’s Dolphins – Jets game. The officer must have already had plans because he turned them down. The judge was not impressed.
“Have you been watching the Dolphins? No one’s going to go to that game,” Palm Beach County Judge Timothy P. McCarthy told Topalian.
Topalian began to say something but the judge admonished him that it probably would be better if he didn’t discuss the potential value of an alleged bribe while he still was considered innocent until proven guilty.
“Miami-Jets tickets aren’t worth a damn,” McCarthy said, and reduced Topalian’s bond accordingly, ordering him held in lieu of $6,000 bail.
Personally, I think the judge was being a bit harsh. Then again, if you’re watching the game, you can see thousands of empty orange seats. I guess not that many people care about watching the Dolphins try to end the Jets’ season.

Could the offering of Dolphins tickets lead to an increased sentence in this case? Isn’t that considered inflicting grievous harm on a law officer or something?
