Then he woke up one morning and found himself in the same division with an in his prime Peyton Manning for the better part of a decade. Other than New England, who else had a chance to consistently beat Manning out? Not Pittsburgh. Oh, and he secured a #1 seed with Kerry Collins prominently involved. And I think this does need to be taken into account since WildCards became harder to come by with the added division in each conference.

He was also over .500 against Cowher from what I can recall, playing him close to 20 times over the years.

So while I’m clearly not the authority on anything, I’d still take Fisher over Cowher for what it’s worth.

He’s a quality coach, but I don’t believe one that you should break the bank to get, or to base hiring him heavily on what he did in Pittsburgh.

I think the hope for the hiring team would be that he’d bring that sense of consistency to the organization with his hires as coaches and whoever he had as a personnel guy. If I were an owner, I’d hand him the keys for that. But I wouldn’t assume Super Bowls were around the corner.

It’s the Steeler way that gets it done from the top down. I’m not saying Cowher is terrible, I’m just saying he’s a complete nincompoop. No, I’m not saying that either. From a consistency standpoint, I’d say he’d fit best with the Giants if the time is right.

Fisher is a poor mans Cowher. To be honest, I would probably go with a coordinator before either of these two if I were hiring a coach. But it really doesn’t matter if I have a shitty decision maker putting together personnel.
