Carolina Goalie Cam Ward Was Credited With a Goal
I love playing NHL video games. My ultimate goal in life is to score an empty-netter with a goalie. I wouldn’t want to score it like this though. Monday night with the Hurricanes protecting a late lead, the Devils pulled their goalie. After a save by Cam Ward, the Devils tried to work the puck around before an errant pass went the length of the ice for an empty-netter. As the last Carolina player to touch the puck, Ward was credited with the goal, though it appears that Brandon Sutter got a stick on the puck.
While it wasn’t a shot, it’s still a neat accomplishment. Ward is only the 10th goalie ever credited with a goal in the history of the NHL. He’s the first goalie credited with a goal since Nashville’s Chris Mason in 2006. The last goaltender to shoot and score was San Jose’s Evgeni Nabokov.

Let’s throw shit up against the wall and see if it sticks.

CRM – in the old NHL games for genesis it was possible to score empty netters with the goalie.

Devils are doing just fine. Parise has finally come to life like all good American hockey players do. Should see more of that on Saturday as the Americans mop the floor with the Canadians in the WJC.

What makes this even more baffling is that Uncle Lou used to be one the best GMs in the league. Did he just go senile?

Not financially.

Lou got pushed under the thumb of upper management last summer with the Kovalchuk signing. Pretty sure he didn’t want any part of that. Once Brodeur’s giant salary comes off the books after this season, the Devils will have a little more cap room to play with. They’ve gotta pay Parise, of course. Can’t let an elite American talent get away.

Minnesota bound.

I think he stays. Easier to work around the contract Kovalchuk has than to try and play along side the malcontent that is Dany Heatley. The Wild have already started to come back to Earth this year. Koivu being out has as much to do with that as the fact that their lack of goal scoring has caught up to their defense’s regression to the mean.
If Parise goes anywhere by New Jersey, it would be Vancouver or Detroit. I think Detroit focuses on replacing Lidstrom and Vancouver can’t offer the kind of money that New Jersey will be able to. Plus, he’d be a 2nd line player in Vancouver what with Thing 1 and Thing 2 occupying the top line out there.

Can we get a post about how ESPN didn’t mention one fucking hockey player who passes away in their 2011 tribute to those who passed?

Wysh did a good job filleting tWWL for that. I know you read it. I’d be upset if I didn’t half expect them to disregard a sport that doesn’t contribute to their balance sheet. Disgraceful on their part, sure. Unexpected? Not really.
C’est la vie.

why do you think this is so?
/i agree due to top talent for Canada remaining in NHL
