Brook Lopez Suffered a Stress Fracture in His Foot. Dwight Howard Must Be Bummed

All, NBA Jason McIntyre December 22nd. 2011, 3:40pm

Horrible news for the New Jersey Nets: Center Brook Lopez has a stress fracture in his right foot, he needs surgery, and he’ll be out until at least February.

So for the time being, forget about Dwight Howard going to New Jersey. There’s no way the Magic are dealing the league’s best center for potentially-damaged goods. Lopez is soft to begin with; how much softer will he be coming off foot surgery?

Not only does this damage the idea of Dwight Howard going to the Nets this season … but the chances of Deron Williams staying just took a massive hit.

Time for the Lakers to step up and overpay for Howard.

For being such a supposedly dominant player, Dwight Howard really hasn’t done shit in the playoffs.
Hakeem won a title with Kenny Smith, Vernon Maxwell, Otis Thorpe and Robert Horry as his starting mates. Howard’s had at least that much talent around him.
In other words, Howard’s not an all time elite center.

If I had to pick a center [for an all-time best team], I would take Olajuwon. That leaves out Shaq, Patrick Ewing. It leaves out Wilt Chamberlain. It leaves out a lot of people. And the reason I would take Olajuwon is very simple: he is so versatile because of what he can give you from that position. It’s not just his scoring, not just his rebounding or not just his blocked shots. People don’t realize he was in the top seven in steals. He always made great decisions on the court.
