Tony Sparano Fired in Miami
Stephen Ross must have had a wager placed that Tony Sparano would not be fired before Del Rio and Haley. Now that Haley was canned this morning, it was time for Sparano to go. Sparano, like Haley, looked like he was as good as gone. Then, the Dolphins started playing better and winning. It’s somewhat puzzling that he wasn’t fired at 0-7. The team rebounded, played hard, and won 4 of the next 5, and after the first bad performance in over a month, Ross decided he didn’t want to wait and see if Sparano pulled a “Norv.”
Miami is a potentially attractive opening, but a new coach has to deal with Ross and his mixed messages, and must find a quarterback.

I would think it’s a great job, other than the owner, who makes you wonder if he’ll eye fuck every new and hot coaching candidate that comes down the pike after you’ve been hired.

Isn’t this more of reason for his firing? If they were talented enough to have that nice stretch where they were playing really well, there’s no way they should have started 0-7. They aren’t as talent-lacking as the colts. He was gone anyways though.

Some Florida beat writer was tweeted out something about Jeff Fisher being atop their list.

C’mon now – everyone knows personnel decisions in Miami are made by Gloria Estefan and Marc Anthony

they’ll probably hire rob ryan or some shitty co-ordinator like that.

Jeff is just waiting for the ginger in Dallas to coach himself out of a job in a few weeks.

I like sparano. I hope Dallas hired him back at his offseason to call plays.

In other news, Manti Te’o decided to stay for his senior year at Notre Dame. That’s a big pick up. Lamar Miller is gone from Miami, continuing the exodus from South Beach. Anyone know if Montee Ball is staying or going? Dude looked like a little midget compared to Trent Richardson at the Heisman ceremony over the weekend. He seems like a guy that will stay.

Urban Meyer to the Dolphins.

Don’t sleep on the Williams sisters’ football acumen.

don’t forget will smith, but he’s more of the meet’n'greet chairman.

rumor has it that ross is going to give the dowfeen teal and orange winged helmets in order to make the coaching job more attractive.

He really can’t actually. Years ago, he had an accident around a deep fryer where hot oil got into his eyes. As a result, he’s ultra sensitive to light and has to keep his glasses on.

Knew it was coming. Might as well go while you are going to be a first-rounder. Streeter and Fortson however? Somebody pumped some over-inflated dreams into their heads.

As for this story, I only wish T-Pain could come out with a more mournful version of this to play when news like this breaks

it’s like if Pitch Black were about a lousy NFL coach instead of Riddick.
December 12th, 2011 at 4:10 PM
My thinking is his stock will never be higher so even if he’s just a 3rd round pick it’s not going to get any better so why put yourself through another year of being run into the ground (especially since next year they won’t have a top talent at QB to lean on at times)…would be nice to have him back though, I think James White should always be a change of pace guy

Should just promote Daboll.

Miller is good, but is he really a first rounder? To be a first round back in today’s NFL, you have to be really, really nasty. He seems like a 2nd rounder to me. Ingram was the only back drafted in the first round last year I believe.
December 12th, 2011 at 4:12 PM
Yeah, I think most QBs should stay, but most RBs need to get paid when they can. That position is just too hard on the body.
December 12th, 2011 at 4:13 PM
Shame, I’ll never get to see him a celebrate a field goal again.
December 12th, 2011 at 4:14 PM
If he can run a fast 40 time I think he can get into the first round. Weak crop of RB’s in the draft and I think Richardson goes in the top ten.
December 12th, 2011 at 4:16 PM
True. After Richardson I’m not sure I can think of a RB in college that I think will be a stud in the NFL. I think teams will simply pick them later, rather than reach, though. Taking RBs in the first round isn’t a smart play unless you’re getting AP.
December 12th, 2011 at 4:21 PM
lattimore.
December 12th, 2011 at 4:21 PM
unless you meant “think of an RB in college THAT’S GOING TO BE IN THE NEXT DRAFT…”

He should go. I would always advise a running back who should make a roster because of where he will be drafted in year 1 to go pro. Especially true now with less difference in salary between top 15 and 3rd round. One year earlier to free agency, one year earlier getting paid period when you never know what future holds. I’m sure Forte wishes he had entered league at 22 now.

I meant draft eligible

saban back to the dolphins
December 12th, 2011 at 4:41 PM
He’s going to get attention for his physical skills and workouts. I think he goes late 1st round.
December 12th, 2011 at 5:06 PM
I just want to point out that, no, that’s not a joke. This is the actual truth.
December 12th, 2011 at 6:35 PM
+1
For all true Phins fans, sadly, this is the case. His fist-pumping days off of Carpenter’s kicking feats will truly be missed.
December 12th, 2011 at 7:32 PM
Miller is a hell of a player. He doesn’t get the attention because of that abortion of a team he plays on, but he is absolutely legit. I think he’ll do well in the NFL.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:10 PM
The Duane Parcells era in Miami was a rousing success.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:08 PM
Lamar Miller definitely has some Lesean Mccoy in him.
