So….Tim Tebow performed another miracle and “there’s a crisis in Big D!”
/nope, I won’t be watching ESPN this week
December 12th, 2011 at 8:23 AM
as if a cat ever needed more reason to be pretentious.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:25 AM
it *seems* like everyone is finally enjoying the Tim Tebow ride. Miz, Breesus … your wives were watching the ending yesterday, right?
December 12th, 2011 at 8:25 AM
Any chance they can get a ‘backsies’ on the Big Baby trade to Orlando?
December 12th, 2011 at 8:25 AM
The way TBL uses lingo sometimes, I just figured this was an article about some dude. But its an actual cat!
December 12th, 2011 at 8:27 AM
You guys actually got the game? Thanks to the Fox local coverage early, we only got two (Titans-Saints, Packers-Giants).
December 12th, 2011 at 8:27 AM
Saturday night’s NBA trade is now official: The Lakers sent Lamar Odom and a 2nd round pick to the Mavericks for a 2011 1st round pick
the Lakers get a pick in the future, not one in the past.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:28 AM
that areola I see isn’t quite so SFW.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:28 AM
John Elway: First you you beat Miami in OT. Then you won 6 in a row. And now you’re gonna lead us to the Division Title and the Playoffs!
Tim Tebow: They’re not gonna beat us. We’re on a mission from God.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:28 AM
If it’s late, and the game is close,
will win it.
/Fixed
December 12th, 2011 at 8:28 AM
Eli Comebacks > Tebow Comebacks
but both only happen because of their defense.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:29 AM
Screwed that up. Oh well.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:29 AM
we didn’t get the game.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:30 AM
TBL sticks up for Sanchez and Tebow. Two shitty qb’s. Wow.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:30 AM
My wife might have… she went out to a bar to go watch football while I was working to insulate the basement.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:30 AM
I am so fucking scared of playing the Broncos next week. Need to go up by at least 20 in the 2nd half for me to feel safe.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:30 AM
that pussy is gonna be insufferable after a solid month of Fancy Feast.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:30 AM
it *seems* like everyone is finally enjoying the Tim Tebow ride. Miz, Breesus … your wives were watching the ending yesterday, right?
I tell my wife about it, for the sake of conversation. I go on and on explaining the Tebow phenomenon. She follows along really well until I start talking about how mad Jason Lisk is going to be, and how much he hates Tim Tebow. Then she gets confused.
That was an improbable ending yesterday for Denver. Almost unrealistic.
The Dallas one, on the other hand, was improbable, but utterly realistic. Jerry Jones screaming “TIMEOUT JASON” really isn’t a good sign for Red Jesus.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:30 AM
The Tebow thing is just to be consistent in his QB wins arguments.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:32 AM
I quick checked the score online, knowing nothing about the game, and saw the Broncos down 10-0 with 3:00 left and I said out loud to the hubby, oh, the Broncos lost. Silly me.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:32 AM
Eli Comebacks > Tebow Comebacks
but both only happen because of their defense.
yeah, Eli’s really good. Really, really good. Unfazed by pressure.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:33 AM
In this 6-game streak, their best win is versus a shitty Jets team. They’ll get their assess beat the first good team they play.
/not sure the Patriots are good
//checks defensive starters
///pretty sure they aren’t
////shit
December 12th, 2011 at 8:34 AM
NFC East is the new NFC West…er something like that. some shitty ass football.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:34 AM
The Giants are the team I want the Packers to avoid in the playoffs
December 12th, 2011 at 8:35 AM
When the hell did this happen? I hate Eli for the Superbowl, and for getting MVP even though he sucked and kept trying to throw the game-losing interception, but he made some awesome throws down the stretch. I don’t like a world nearly as much if Eli Manning is a legit top-5 QB.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:36 AM
HEY!! Someone with common sense!! A shitty Jets team who had played Sunday night against the Patriots and had to play @Denver on Thursday
December 12th, 2011 at 8:36 AM
Should be, the game’s being played in the Holy Land and your Defense gives up a yards to crappy teams
December 12th, 2011 at 8:36 AM
I saw that they didn’t get the onside kick with 2 minutes left and 1 (no?) timeouts. I’m still not sure how the hell they got the ball back. Something something kill Marion Barber.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:38 AM
And they only won that game because Sanchez gave them a pick-6.
Was this the first game where Tebow’s offense outscored the other team’s offense?
December 12th, 2011 at 8:39 AM
I saw that they didn’t get the onside kick with 2 minutes left and 1 (no?) timeouts. I’m still not sure how the hell they got the ball back. Something something kill Marion Barber.
It was a mind boggling brain fart that really shouldn’t have mattered. Denver also gagged the onsides kick (maybe the best one I’ve ever seen) when one of their own guys knocked it away from another of their own guys, around whom there were no Chicago Bears.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:40 AM
No, the game where they played the MIA and won 18-15 in OT.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:42 AM
The fact that Denver needed Overtime to beat a Bears team without Cutler an Forte is not good. People will say, all that matters is they won, but if this would have been the Pats, Packers, Saints or Steelers, then everyone would be saying “wow, why did they struggle so bad against the bears?!
December 12th, 2011 at 8:43 AM
Denver’s kicker nailing two 50+ yard FGs.
meanwhile Dallas’ kicker gets iced again, JPP blocks second kick.
Tebow?
December 12th, 2011 at 8:43 AM
Tebow doesn’t let me down. On the other hand, Boardwalk Empire…
December 12th, 2011 at 8:46 AM
Just found out this morning that the Tebow comeback actually prevented the Steelers from clinching a playoff spot.
That bastard!
December 12th, 2011 at 8:47 AM
i know they were in Denver, but Prater friggin boomed those.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:47 AM
Pats are winning by 30+
/Brady & Belichek better sign a contract with the devil
December 12th, 2011 at 8:49 AM
Crap. Don’t tell me the Pats D is so desperate they signed you up to play this week.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:50 AM
ESPN is so disgusting. Trying to imply the Broncos are winning because of God.
Come on
December 12th, 2011 at 8:52 AM
are we talkin boardwalk yet?
/grumbles
December 12th, 2011 at 8:52 AM
I’m a believer in Tebow now. Mainly because so many things had to fall into place for the Broncos to win. The Barber going out of bounds and fumbling in OT but more importantly, the Bears going prevent defense with 3:00 left when playing their game-planned form of defense held Denver to 0 points after 57 minutes. I guess Rod Marinelli just got hit with the spirit.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:53 AM
+1 joke. That’s a joke, right?
/frantically checks transactions
//hey look they signed two more safeties just so they could cut them
December 12th, 2011 at 8:54 AM
Check the Cowboys/Giants thread.

December 12th, 2011 at 8:55 AM
A pox on their house.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:57 AM
Oh come on guys. I”m only on the practice squad. For now.
Ive read some Pats fans on Twitter planning to show up to the game dressed as the devil. I’m torn as to the humor in that.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:57 AM
How dumb are the Lakers giving away Odom like that?
December 12th, 2011 at 8:58 AM
Oh come on guys. I”m only on the practice squad. For now.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:59 AM
Ive read some Pats fans on Twitter planning to show up to the game dressed as the devil. I’m torn as to the humor in that.

/duffs another chip
December 12th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
randomized moderation? fuck yeah!
December 12th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
luke donald is awesome.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
Oh I see the humor in it. My cousin who lives in Denver says that it’s driving him nuts. He equates it to the Beatles coming to America meets the second coming of Christ.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
Murray State 76, Memphis 72. The Racers are unbeaten.
Nooooooooo!
Shakira
Yesssssss!
December 12th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
It is important that we compare Tebow to Super Bowl champion QB’s with 8+ years of experience. Because if we compared him to young QB’s with 10 or less starts it wouldn’t fit the “he’s terrible” argument as well.
Rodgers was sitting on the bench watching Farve at the same point in his career. Brees was putting up QB ratings in the 60′s and 70′s at the same age.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:02 AM
New England is going to curb stomp Denver in that game and then Gronkowski is going to scoop up that Godzilla Biscuits chick from Tebow and scale the Empire State Building.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:02 AM
thank you giants to a tasty and satisfying nfl day.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:02 AM
I mean I’m sick of Tebow just like everyone else, but when you pull a game out of your ass EVERY SINGLE FRICKING WEEK, you begin to wonder if there is a vengeful God.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
There is no humor in it, because it’s only funny to joke about verbally. That is taking it to far and will only get people to focus more on Tebow’s religion which has jack dick to do with football.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:04 AM
New England barely beat the Redskins…. That’s gonna be a close game with Denver having the ball 80% of the time.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:04 AM
word is that TBL was writing an algorithm for a mobile site, but he misspelled “mobile” with “modile” and autocorrect changed it to “moderation.” machines are dumb.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:04 AM
How dumb is Stern letting Cuban break up a trade that would have helped the Rockets and made the Lakers the instant favorite in the West, only to have Cuban turn around and acquire one of the major items in the original trade for himself?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:04 AM
So you’re saying you want to compare him to the Jets last year?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:06 AM
he’s doing this shit with tebow just to annoy everyone who loves football regardless of who’s playing it?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:06 AM
he should be benched. he’s never going to amount to anything.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:07 AM
Yeah, & youre right. Loved his post game comments about the team believing in each other and everything. Kept waiting for him to ‘shove his religion down my throat’ but it never happened. Odd.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:08 AM
Imagine what would happen if Sean Payton got his hands on Tebow!
/next logical step
December 12th, 2011 at 9:08 AM
CJ, are you getting on board?!?!!?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:08 AM
Saturday night’s NBA trade is now official: The Lakers sent Lamar Odom and a 2nd round pick to the Mavericks for a 2011 1st round pick.
Between this and Shannon Brown signing with Phoenix, what are the Lakers thinking?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:09 AM
Patriots are screwed, plain and simple.
21 4th quarter points to Indy, and barely scraping out a win against Washington? If that’s not BEGGING for a Tebow-led 4th quarter comeback, I don’t know what is.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:09 AM
The perfect storm that Tebow walked into is something to marvel at. They’ve played Matt Moore, Stafford (blowout loss) Carson Palmer (in his first start with a team he’d been with for 12 days), Matt Cassel (I think he was healthy for this game), Sanchez, Phillip Rivers, Christian Ponder and Caleb Haney. Holy shit. You couldn’t ask for a better group of QBs to play. It’s amazing when you think about it.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:11 AM
As a fan, when your up be 1 score and Rex Grossman is on the other sideline, and your terrified, things probably are not going to end well in the playoffs.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:11 AM
History people: there was some city that Hitler refused to bomb as the British retreated or something. Anyone know what one?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:11 AM
Even Tebow can’t score 31 points in 4 minutes. Because that’s what it’s gonna take.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:11 AM
Go on…
December 12th, 2011 at 9:12 AM
I was in second place in my yearlong NFL pickem league, but 6 games back going into the weekend. Then the dude in first forgot to make piks this week. Sir Spicious moved into first. Christmas miracle.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:12 AM
So I’m the only person that heard about him telling a reporter when asked why he was kneeling with his eyes closed during the game tying field goal that he thought it was a “perfect time to talk to the man upstairs?” Or when he was first interviewed after the game thanking the good lord and savior jesus christ for the win?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
Brees was a 77 in his second season. Tebow is an 81 after 7 or 8 games, and he’s played two good defenses.
/passer rating is worthless disclaimer
December 12th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
Re: this Tebow stuff, you notice the split between his passing stats for quarters 1-3 vs 4th quarter/overtime? Yeesh.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
He’s not the only athlete who does this.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:14 AM
What the fuck does that have to do with anything?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:14 AM
I was happy with half of the finalists. I think we all know who’s winning it though.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:14 AM
OT: Happy birth anniversary to Edward G. Robinson.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:14 AM
And Brady was winning a Superbowl!!!
yeeeaaaaahhhhhh
December 12th, 2011 at 9:15 AM
i thought he was referring to the offensive coordinator.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:16 AM
what’s just as amazing is that, save for a couple of those guys, that is a list of QB’s currently starting in the NFL.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:16 AM
Pretty sure some reporter asked him something about Tebow praying for Barber to go out of bounds or Barber going out of bounds by some spirit
December 12th, 2011 at 9:16 AM
You turning into TBL?
“Passer rating is usually… comp % and YPA are the stats to use”
/those make up half of passer rating, and TD/INT %s are the other half
December 12th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
So Andre 3000 won the Heisman?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
The Patriots have completed their transformation into the mid-2000s Colts, plain and simple.
And I don’t see a Bob Sanders on the roster, even an injured one watching from the sidelines in team gear.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
I think if I had one game to win, I’d take Matt Moore from that list, unless we really think Palmer is back.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
Elway. He wants to shove it in his face.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
I hate football.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
he should be benched. he’s never going to amount to anything.
Sincerely,
TBL before the 2009 season
December 12th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
i like to think of jesus with giant eagles wings singing lead vocals for lynard skynard with an angel band and im in the first row HAMMERED drunk.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
It really is. The amount of shitty QBs starting in the league shows just how hard it is to do. It’s why if the Colts do get the No. 1 pick, they almost have to draft Luck. You can’t pass on a 10-year QB.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
Two incorrect uses of “your”, 1 typo, and a run-on sentence to boot? That’s a trifecta of shit to start the week.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
Do you actively hate or roll your eyes at anybody else who does this? Or do you just hold it against Tebow because the media has found a way to market it.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:20 AM
Is there a golf blog or something out there that has this amount of discussion? I’m serious. I’m there if there is.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Dude, Ive rooted for Tebow since that circumcision video on Sportscenter back when he was in college!
December 12th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
She hated RG3′s heisman speech.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Good list but I’d have gone with the Palestinian Chicken episode from Curb instead of the Buckner one
December 12th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Of course, I’m just happy with the half I was rooting for.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
i guess i just have different expectations when a QB can’t give consistant, competant play for 50 minutes of a 60 minute game against a team that normally executes well and doesn’t make the types of mistakes on offense that have given the ball back to Tebow, like Marion Barber did. twice.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
When you can find an unflattering photo of Shakira, you’ve really done something special. Didn’t think those existed.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Me too. I’m just done. Finished. I like the Tebow stuff, honestly I do, but when your own team is 2-11, the team is quitting on the coach and is basically impossible to watch every week, it makes it 39483 times harder to enjoy the league as a whole.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:22 AM
I think it’s worthless because I don’t see the usefulness of the coefficients they use. Also, it doesn’t include sacks or rushing yards.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:23 AM
Also, this was a funny quote from Leslie Frazier about corner Cedric Griffin who was benched: “We made that switch to try to get someone in there that would slow the Titus Youngs of the world down.” OUCH
December 12th, 2011 at 9:23 AM
What is Devin McCourty, James Ihedigbo, and Kyle Arrington?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:23 AM
there’s a few…waggle room, wei under par.
never really commented at any of em tho. it’s hard to keep up a golf blog tho, i will say…
/stares longingly at defunct golf blog
December 12th, 2011 at 9:23 AM
I came here today to talk John Skelton, dude just wins football games you know
December 12th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
When you can find an unflattering photo of Shakira, you’ve really done something special. Didn’t think those existed.
SC, I think she looks good in that shot. Have seen better, though.
I hate football.
Me too. I’m just done. Finished
Now that the Chargers are just about done, I am starting to hate NFL also. Maybe it’s jealousy towards the teams that still have a reasonaable chance for playoff glory.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
But you like OPS? Both are flawed… both have no game-interpretability… doesn’t mean either is ‘worthless’
December 12th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
I mean, a healthy Chung would help a little bit. Im even looking forward to Spikes’ return. Powww.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
T. J. Yates.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:26 AM
FREEBIRD!!!!!
December 12th, 2011 at 9:26 AM
I watched some of that game. You know what? At least he gets the ball to his top 3 in the league wide receiver.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:26 AM
That’s quite the backhanded compliment of Young too.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:26 AM
Anyone wanna talk about Cam Newton looking like shit against Atlanta for the second time this year?
/no…no one?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:26 AM
At least there’s the draft. But if Matt Kalil doesn’t go pro, I’m kidnapping his family.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:26 AM
Abso-fucking-lutely. I have a major problem with athletes who say Jesus is the reason why they won.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
I have no idea how this trade happened. You are telling me that you couldn’t get a better deal for Odom? Guy is a matchup nightmare. I get trading him but you have to get something better than that.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
No, I don’t like OPS. It’s just quick and dirty and easy to get a point across.
I prefer anything derived from linear weights (wOBA being the easiest to understand). But try telling your dad that Jay Bruce is good even with all the strikeouts because is wOBA is .370 — he’ll look at you like you’re a jagoff (it’s happened to me).
December 12th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
That was nice of the Bengal fans to let the Yates family have their own section at the stadium
December 12th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
Wrong city.
I love the narrative forming here that they only win because the other team eats stupid pills in the last two minutes.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
it doesn’t help when you take away her best ASSet that usually detracts from her face either. some of TBL’s finest work.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
I was at a Christmas party Sat nite and that’s what I said out loud when he started talking at the podium. Kinda reminded me of him in the movie Four Brothers
December 12th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
It’s Always Sunny has sucked most of this season but I enjoyed Part 1 of the High School Reunion episode.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
I too am done with the NFL for 2011-12. I’ll be on the sidelines quietly rooting for unspeakable thing to happen to Green Bay but that’s about it. The Bears are not entertaining and no longer provide a means of recreation on Sundays.
All hockey, all the time. Hot stove, too. Speaking of which, I’ve put my chips on Wednesday and the Mariners for Prince Fielder.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
When does AJ Green crack this list?

i have watched it probably 6 times already. i still cant believe it.

chardee macdennis was fantastic.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
They did yesterday. Marion Barber and the cover 2. Why change what worked in the first 57:57 of the the game? You’ve held the Denver offense scoreless to this point playing cover 1 and rushing 4.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
Quietly? Sure
December 12th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
Interesting, I’d say other than the Frank’s brother episode this season has been great…CharDee MacDennis was one of the funniest half-hours they’ve put together
December 12th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
He was doing fine until he tried that flip pass, then everything went to shit and Olindo Mare can eat shit.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
Fat Mac has really ruined a lot of the episodes. It was a fun gag but really lost steam after the first episode. I want to see Ronald McDonald getting his pump on and dominating his high school reunion.

if Dallas doesn’t find a fucking stud safety to help out Sean Lee and DeMarcus Ware, they’ll never find a way to stop anyone.

It’s happened like 3 times, no? I mean, otherwise Tebow would be 3-4 as a starter and no one would be talking about him. It’s remarkable.
Dude is just so smooth. I remember punks trying to tell me he wasn’t the best WR in college and I was being a homer. It sucks that he’s in shitty Cincy, though. I doubt they’ll be on SNF/MNF anytime soon, so I never get to watch him.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:31 AM
So, I guess the Wild are good or something. And have goalies coming out of their ears. But its statistically improbable for them to blah blah blah just enjoy the effing games.
What golf blog? I’d absolutely read that. I need a place to predict where Luke Donald will go on an excruciating 99-03 Mickelson run where he comes oh-so-close to winning a major but never does.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:32 AM
Really? Don’t get me wrong, I loved CharDee MacDennis but I haven’t laughed all that much this season. Mac’s name in last week’s episode got a good chuckle out of me.

Barber’s mistake was big, but let’s not pretend that Denver hadn’t shot themselves in the foot all day. Blocked FG, Bay Bay Thomas dropping a sure TD–the Bears were lucky themselves, a bit. These things even out.
Plus: the decision to play Cover 2 is entirely consistent with their whole scheme, all they needed to do was execute. They didn’t.
Plus: Caleb Hanie. Toldja.

Same thing goes for the New York Rangers. Enjoy the ride and rack up as many early points as you can. They still count in November and December as much as they do in March and April.
Backstrom had a slow start to the year when Harding when playing great. Now that Nik’s found his game, the Wild are pretty much playing like the Predators have the last 2-3 seasons. They need more production from Koivu though. Doing fine with the helpers, I think he’s top 15 in the league there but he’s only got 7 goals. Same goes for Heatley.

Toldja what? He didn’t do anything wrong yesterday. Bears can win games when he doesn’t turn the ball over. Hanie played well enough for the Bears to win yesterday. The defense failed them along with Barber’s brainfart/fumble.

id recommend finding his rebuttals to brandel chamblee too…some excellent internet takedowns.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
I’m curious as to how a guy like Donald approaches something like this. obviously winning a major is the #1 goal for any pro, but when you are wiping your ass with $100′s like he is now, will it take away a little of that competitive fire at all?
December 12th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
WHAAAAA? The defense?! Come on dude. Mike Martz called ALL RUNNING PLAYS for the last 10 minutes of the 4th quarter! They didn’t get one fucking first down! And I don’t know why they were trying for a first down in OT when Barber fumbled when Gould could have easily hit a field goal to end the fucking game.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:42 AM

That’s just not how that team is built though. They remind me of the 2001-02 Twins. A bunch of .290-.300 hitters who all hit 15-20 home runs and rarely strike out (Koskie, Hunter, Jones, Mientkiewicz, Pierzynski, Ortiz, Guzman, etc)

December 12th, 2011 at 9:46 AM
Jesus Christ people. There was a 10 point lead for the Bears defense with 3:03 left in the game. The Denver offense had provided no points, had been in Bears territory just three times to that point in the game. They then proceeded to go 5 plays in under a minute and score a touchdown. Followed up by the offense not staying in bounds on 2nd down when the Broncos had no timeouts, I don’t see how this is anyone’s fault but Marinelli and Lovie for switching from cover 1 to cover 2. Denver had the entire middle of the field and the sidelines at their disposal.
You’ve seen Caleb Hanie throw. 10 point lead, our best ally was the clock, field position and not turning the ball over.

Donald was trending up for a while; He was derailed by a injury a few years back. Also had a kid, that ruins some guys for a short bit too (Oglivy). I think he’ll probably be in this range for another 1-3 years; kind of a modern Nick Price. He can be 40 yards off the green and gets up and down; deadly iron game, mad short game and timely putting translates globally.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
Tebow had the Bears right where he wanted them. Rod Marinelli’s a retard.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
I was actually specifically referring to something I told SC about Hanie when he predicted a rosy winning scenario. I watched the kid play throughout college. Definitely has a chance to be a solid pro, but not at the moment.

i think the money’s gotten so ridiculous that the only way to separate yourself from the extremely deep pack is to win all the time. i refuse to say that luke donald is less motivated to win because he’s rich…dude had 20 top 10′s in 26 tournaments entered this year. he wants it bad.

No, it would have to be coming from RittyRich to be “rich.” I’m just pointing out that Richt talks a big game, but in the end will keep troublemakers, like Isaiah Crowell, around. I’m not happy about the situation involving Dyer, but I can’t see Richt running off the MVP of last year’s national title game (if he knew what the MVP of the national title game even looked like).

True, to a point. Heatly & Setoguchi were brought in to score goals. 8 & 9 goals are not what they’re supposed to produce.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:54 AM
What trouble has he caused? He was suspended for the same amount of time as Dyer was for getting busted pissing dirty. Other than that what has Crowell done? Ealey, a stud recruit who led the team in rushing, was forced out just last year. Again, spare me the Richt hate, especially when you are a fan of a team with a rich history of being shady to the max.

Just stating a fact. Tom Crean didn’t do much except underachieve without Dwyane Wade. Even with Dwyane Wade he coached the most embarrassing Final Four game I can remember. George Mason put up a better fight in their semi-final than Marquette against Kansas.

Craps is the only one that isn’t, it’s just roll probability. You’re playing the odds. I started playing it two years ago, and it’s my go to game now at the casino. Really easy to learn also, the dealers will help you out, and you can download a craps teaching app on the iPhone for about 3 bucks.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
They are just gutted on defense due to injury right now, too. Cam is going to win big, though. Dude is just a baller.

December 12th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
Irony alert: 4 years ago the Saints traded a draft pick to Miami to get Mare because John Carney couldn’t kick the ball into the end zone. Now they have the Panthers’ kicker and the Panthers want to get rid of Mare.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:59 AM
He went over it a long while back, he hits an insane amount of balls during the week and before each round.
I agree but it’s still an improvement over the past couple years. I do wish someone would break out as a badass superstar… I’m ashamed to admit it but I miss Gaborik for that reason, just for the crowd buzz anytime he had the puck.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:00 AM

The Saints wish they had Kasay back. The Saints have him. 4 years ago the Saints traded a draft pick to get Mare because Carney couldn’t get the ball in the end zone. Now the Panthers have learned their lesson on this P.O.S..
December 12th, 2011 at 10:00 AM
I’d buy part of that Faldo comparison in terms of game. Faldo was probably the best athlete on tour when he was in his prime, from what I’ve read, whereas I don’t see that in Donald. Faldo was a little more built for big tourneys whereas I’d like to see some of that in Donald. I’d agree with Price’s game being different, but meant it in more that they don’t kill themselves, get it done with their iron game, good putting in their prime, Donald has the same bulldog self-belief he just doesn’t faux-wear it on his sleeve like some do, he also isn’t the most popular guy. Granted, many people hated Nick Price b/c he was foreign, not really photogenic; People still hated him b/c of the whole apartheid thing, fair or not.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:00 AM
*Panthers wish they had Kasay back.

He’s finally healthy and tearing up the ice at MSG. Having a great year with Stepan and Anisimov. I think he occasionally plays with Richards, too. They’ve put him in a sniper’s role and Anisimov is doing all the dirty work along the boards.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:04 AM
Already addressed the Barber thing–games have a way of evening out when they’re that close. Think of it as Martyball with a dogmatic element.
As far as the Jets thing: you can play that game as long as you like with any sporting outcome you want. In any positive play, even one of Brady’s sweeeeeet touchdown passes, someone probably fucked up on the other side.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:09 AM
No. The house edge is small here if you bet optimally, but it’s still very much in their favor.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:09 AM
Going to be tough. They’re getting on the same type of roll as last year. Though the Wild just keep racking up points so should be interesting.
If Hodgson is gone any length of time then we may have a problem.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:09 AM
I’m a Giants fan, and I know the Giants beat the Eagles in the Desean Jackson game and make the playoffs last year if Aaron Ross plays contain instead of running in on the inside on a blitz on the 3rd down play where Vick ran for 30 yards. I know they beat the Packers last week, if they get that pick on the last drive. The point is, none of the QB’s had the game microanalyzed to the point that the opponent’s mistakes took away from their performance when it mattered.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:11 AM
Allegations of being shady to the max. I’ll give Crowell a year.
It sounds like Dyer got the big head after doing well on the big stage. It’s a problem, since he had a lot of players support him, but he didn’t exactly use his leadership skills to make the team better.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:12 AM
So, I guess the Wild are good or something. And have goalies coming out of their ears. But its statistically improbable for them to blah blah blah just enjoy the effing games.
The bold section is how I know you haven’t watched many Wild games.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:12 AM
True, if you play the pass line when the point is on, since there are more combinations for 7 then any other roll combination, you are disadvantaged. If you hedge by playing the come line, where you win on a 7 or 11, then it’s not so bad.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:13 AM
I’m probably late to his one WWOS, but I think you’re talking about Dunkirk, where they could have done some serious damage to the British and French. They did enough, but could have likely done more.
If you’re talking about British cities he refused to bomb, that would be Oxford probably.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:15 AM
True. It may be a bit different this year, but they’ve earned that reputation in the past.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:15 AM
I’m ashamed to admit it but I miss Gaborik for that reason, just for the crowd buzz anytime he had the puck.
Granlund is scheduled to arrive in the Twin Cities next year.

Haha, touche. At least its not Jacques Lemaire.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:20 AM
Oh they earned and embraced it. At least it’s finally changing.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:30 AM
Has anyone had the pleasure of calling their alderman to complain about the number of drive-by shootings taking place during rush hour in the neighborhood? Just me? Awesome.

agreed on both, but despite being an olympic caliber athlete (tested by the british olympic committee back in the day), faldo was a short hitter who built his game on control much like donald. faldo’s range growing up was only long enough to hit 7-irons and he’s a big advocate of never swinging more than 70%.
i agree with all of that in terms of mindset, but i think there’s just a fundamental difference between the two’s respective games that kills it for me from the get-go. price never killed himself with mistakes because he was one of his era’s best drivers, right up there with norman when both were in their primes. if donald was the driver price was, he’d win eight tourneys per year.
but your point was more on personality and mindset, and i agree with that.
him and gary player dealt with that big time.
ps…mentioned this last week. gary player’s golf academy 30 min show was AWESOME. watch it if you can find it. on bunker play, but gives a bunch of other great tips and insight.

sadly, i’M ON team no cable. Bad, yeah, I know. I’ll see if my dad can tape it. Cleveland area courses have so many different sand types, and this year being so wet, the sand was terrible most of the time. I generally focus on keeping lower body still, no death grip, slightly open and just identifying the best par putt and trying to go there. Due to lack of a sand trap to practice in, I try not to get too heroesque in the bunkers. First rule, get out of the bunker.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:46 AM
Would he be the modern Olazabal then. He was terrible off the tee. That’s why he won at Augusta, pre rough. Maybe GMac is the new Price then?
December 12th, 2011 at 10:48 AM
this…and i typically work the ball around bunkers as it is. id rather have a 20 footer and GIR than have to get up and down from a short-sided bunker.
tho ive had decent success this year from the few bunkers ive found. i kept my stats this year from like june onwards and got up and down from 40% of the bunkers i found. granted, the 60% i didn’t were usually rather trainwreck-y…
December 12th, 2011 at 10:51 AM
donald ollie is a phenomenal comparison.
as for new price? hmm…gmac’s too good a putter. maybe hunter mahan. great driver, hits irons the same trajectory with similar accuracy, streaky putter…price had a way better short game tho.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:52 AM
maybe I’ll track solid outs percentage from non-trainwreck bunkers. How many rounds you have from say mid-April? I think maybe 25-30 18 holes and another 9-12 9 holes. What course do you play most? That has a lot of impact in one’s bunker game too.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:56 AM
hunter mahan is a punk. Nick Price had some stones. I’ll have to think that through.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:56 AM
I challenge bunkers and am usually decent from them. Practicing from all different kinds of sand, wet and dry, has helped my short game a ton.
/my putting is now awful though
December 12th, 2011 at 10:56 AM
there isn’t really one course i play the most…pretty solid rotation of maybe 8-12 courses that i hit regularly. since mid-april? probably gotten in 65-75 rounds.
i just don’t find that many bunkers period…averaged one per round and only had two rounds all year where i found more than 2 bunkers (found seven on one of those rounds tho…converted two but had a third lip out from 3 feet).
and you’re spot on about the differences in bunker quality/type. you go from ideal sand conditions at places like stonewater and little mountain to well kept but unremarkable ones at windmill lakes to straight up disasters like at tanglewood.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:58 AM
yea, i just don’t have the resources for this. id love to become a phenomenal bunker player, the facilities around me just don’t have good ones to practice in. and the ones that do are way too expensive or far away to go to regularly.

//looks at new putters online
December 12th, 2011 at 11:00 AM
My face-balanced G5i B60 is in danger of being replaced by a heel-toe weighted model.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:02 AM
I generally play well in good sand bunkers since I got some tips; My handicop is mid-teen though so I still play a lot to middle of greens and dont challenge fewer pins when 7 iron or greater in my hands; I do fine at LMCC, Grey Hawk, and modest at say Tanglewood or Manakiki;
December 12th, 2011 at 11:04 AM
another b60? if you’re looking for something a little different, i picked up my mom’s boyfriend’s old tp mills by spalding (pretty sure it was the 3 model). really great putter and they’re pretty cheap online.
i keep saying im going to get a new putter but just couldn’t imagine anything being better than my scotty. im sure there are better putters out there than an off the rack cameron, but there are other holes in the bag to fill right now.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:04 AM
I never get to practice (only play about 10 rounds a year now… handicap jumped from 6 to about 10 now, in 2 years) so I play entirely by feel. In general, confidence and thinking about the lie goes a long way out of bunkers. I just don’t get consistent spen all the time.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:05 AM
tanglewood from the tips is one of the most fun courses ive ever played…BLOWS AWAY playing the same course from the white’s.
manakiki is a fucking gem every NE ohioan should play…esp now after the renovations.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:06 AM
what type of swing do you have? upright or flat? wristy?
December 12th, 2011 at 11:06 AM
I just replaced my putter of 14 years and can’t imagine regularly changing your putter. My thought is every putter is made to go straight, I see so many people altering their putter in their set up you just know why they cant be good. I’d say find a putter than lines up right with the way you’d like to address the putt; that is more key than the style of putter
December 12th, 2011 at 11:07 AM
Short game I’m almost always pretty wristy and upright.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
we played Tanglewood on a 100 degree day 2 summers ago; We played from the furthest possible point on all tee boxes and I shot a 52-40=92. They flipped the 9′s this summer. I like playing there although they need to mow an intermediate cut of rough; That is a good test of your game with the way the rough is…
December 12th, 2011 at 11:10 AM
oh yea…great read on this here.
kinda got me thinking about getting an 8802 style (this one)…no aim help, no visuals…just line it up and visualize the putt.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:10 AM
perfect for bunker play.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:12 AM
last time i played there i lost two brand new callaway i(s)’s in their fucking rough off of good drives that were maybe 10 feet from the fairway. pissed me off royally.
i bet you had a fucking blast playing there on a 100 degree day back when the course was in that shitty shape. bet it played like a rollercoaster. never played greens that difficult then when those greens are rolling as fast as they were last summer…just fucking great.

Face balanced or heel-toe balanced for putters? My pendulum swing has helped steady me on short putts but it’s not as good for long putts
December 12th, 2011 at 11:17 AM
if you’ve got a face balanced putter with a pendulum swing, it’s probably not the best putter for your stroke. guys have managed with a face balanced putter and pendulum stroke, but you probably want something that encourages the face to shut, and would probably be better off with an anser style.
do you have a strong arc or is a gradual arc with your pendulum? if it’s strong, go with something with a flow-neck and 1/2 shaft of offset. if it’s a subtle arc, go with an anser style.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:18 AM
That back 9 was some of the best golf I ever played, hybrids in on like every hole;
That flanagan just put 1 line to line up the center of ball, that’s all you need; I feel my putting is prettygood, my weakness is I have big distance control outside 30 feet, and with my iron game being quite average, I fould up a few lags per round normally. Inside 15 I feel really damn good about my putting.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:18 AM
?que?
/you lost me here. you can give me some help at the TBL golf outing in Philly next May
//no really, it’s gonna happen
December 12th, 2011 at 11:20 AM
My putting stroke esp on short putts is in a straight line. its the longer strokes that the path needs to curve, that is more difficult to keep on line and i dont like the face balancing
December 12th, 2011 at 11:20 AM
if you open up the putter’s face going back a lot, half shaft (like this). if you you only open the face a little, anser style (like this).
December 12th, 2011 at 11:22 AM
oh yea…and it’s a very difficult driving course too. a lot of challenging tee shots, esp off the back tees.
only hole i hate on that course is the par 3 (now no. 3, used to be 12) that’s WAY uphill. fuck that hole.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:23 AM
Hadn’t played in 6 weeks and played friday after thanksgiving. Shot +2 on the back, with 2 three-putts, and had two birdies. I was dialed in down the stretch. Last hole, needed a birdie to break 80, and was 170 into the wind, called a cut 6 iron, curved around the bunker. Stiffed to 6 inches. Nothing beats the feeling of being dialed in and hitting any shot you want.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:24 AM
yea, you’d probably do better with an anser/newport. something like that.
im the same way…from 15 feet in, face balanced is awesome. horrible on long putts tho.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:25 AM
only hole i hate on that course is the par 3 (now no. 3, used to be 12) that’s WAY uphill. fuck that hole.
add 18 yards to the distance, bail out to the left if need be; chip on, dont run your lag 20 feet past the cup getting cute, move to next hole.
I’ve seen some guys misjudge that tee shot, and it goes short and left and all sorts of unplayable lies come into play there, IF you can find your ball
December 12th, 2011 at 11:26 AM
short and right, I meant.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:27 AM
amen.
that’s a damn good round, lawya. shooting around 80 in wet, cold-ish weather is pretty fuckin’ solid.
last round i played went a similar way. had a chance for a 36 with two birds on the front until i took a 8 on 9. was just blasting it, long and accurate, and the crappy weather made it even better. unfortunately, the weather got even worse, and i was playing a course with a 75+ course/140 slope rating and got beat around a bit on the back for a 44. shot 84 altogether, so that’s not too bad.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:29 AM
you nailed it…last two times i played it, i hit 6i about 5 yards longer than pin high and to the left, just like you said. chipped in once, up and down the next.
best shot i ever saw was from a guy who hit it into the trees short and right (where the cartpath starts to go seriously downhill). probably had a 40 yard pitch, uphill, completely blind…dude stuffed it to 3 feet and made his par.
dude was a duffer…shot was complete luck.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:32 AM
When I was in high school, this kid I hated, made a hole-in-one with a driver on a 155 yard par 3, that rolled the entire way down the hill bounced across the river and up the hill onto the green.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:35 AM
i bet you wanted to kill him. hell, i don’t even know him and i want to kill him.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:37 AM
spence I’ve seen guys luck out into that tee box over there too. See that’s a whole where people not playing strict rules of golf tick me off. B/C if it’s windy you could lose a few off the tee. I seem to luck out there and just accept my bogey and move on;
If we are going to do a commenter outing I’d rather get it dialed in right away to budget time; I’ve run a # of outings and could help some logistics if need be. let me know
December 12th, 2011 at 11:41 AM
Considering all this golf talk, TBL probably zoned out on this thread about halfway through.
/ Thanks to some guys he’s maybe heard of playing that sport he has no interest in
December 12th, 2011 at 11:42 AM
When I was 8 and just learning to golf, I made a deal with my mom that when I got a hole-in-one she’d give me $20 (was a lot of money to me then). I figured it’d take a year, max… there was one par 3 I could reach in one shot, it was downhill, and never came that close. Have come close since, and damaged a few cups, but no aces.

Shakira looks like the Latina version of Claire Danes
December 12th, 2011 at 12:00 PM
I have 6 times within a foot, and 3-4 withing 2 inches or less; I am pretty sure I’ll nab one but you never know.
