Fed Up with Chris Paul Rumors, New Orleans Coach Monty Williams Rips Bloggers and Twitter

Monty Williams, coach of the New Orleans Hornets, was asked by the media this weekend about the incessant Chris Paul rumors flying around the web:

“It’s just a lot of speculation, blogging and tweeting. I’d rather tongue-kiss a maggot than tweet or blog. It’s freakin’ unbelievable. I really would. I don’t know how guys find time to, `Hey, I’m tying my left shoe, here goes the right, stay tuned for details.’ ’’

Actually, what’s “freakin unbelievable” is what David Stern and the NBA are doing the Hornets. [NOLA]

Actually, wasn’t “freakin unbelievable” is what David Stern and the NBA are doing the Hornets.

He does have a point. The number of tweets by respected NBA writers (Woj, Stein, Simmons) claiming a “done deal” were numerous, both for the Lakers and Clippers trade.

Same thing for the Albert Pujols signing. The day before he signed with the Angels, a lot of the MLB guys said it was “down to the marlins or St. Louis.” Twitter seems to be a way for these guys to throw crap against the wall, and if they’re right, they’re first, if they’re not right, nobody really calls them on it.
