Although it would be weird for a QB MVP not to be the passing leader, and not even be 2nd

The total efficiency metrics make up for being behind in total yardage (which is also a side effect of sitting out two 4th quarters and handing off a bunch in a handful of other 4th quarters)…not that finishing near 4,500 yards or wherever he ends up is anything to scoff at

Also, Brady was 8th in yardage last season and Peyton 6th in 2008 so it’s not uncommon

But people use “valuable” to come up with some excuse to make unsupportable points for their guy.

I was the most valuable player on my fifth grade soccer team, because my dad had a pickup truck that all the kids could ride to games in, and my mom always sliced up the oranges.
I lost a few points on ball handling, and endurance, but I was really, really valuable.

Yet, writers are bending over backwards to try to give the award to someone else.

Because the Packers are allowed to hold and their WR’s are not to be touched. Rodgers is the front runner. But Brady and Brees have been just as good if not better at times.
