The NBA over the last two decades has increasingly tried to screw over players by enacting several rules to limit their freedom of movement…and hence obviously pay (going from draft slotting to max contracts and now the new CBA). So, a player like Chris Paul gets around all these things that are significantly reducing his potential income, and the owners panic. This isn’t about competitive balance and never was. It is about profitability of owners (with perhaps a little racial undertone). Owners want to make money, and the best way to do it is to screw the players.

They ended up with both picks in the end, so I guess so. But I don’t think that’s relevant (not a league-owned team) and it happened before they got KG. I don’t think Celtics fans even liked the trade at first (see: Simmons, Bill). The whole thing reads somewhat nonsensically, and has nothing to do with the Lakers/Hornets.
