Funniest death scenes in serious movies:
So they include Friday 13th, Coen movies, Comic Book (and Tarantino) Movies? WTF? He’s my favorite but I don’t even think you can include most of Tarantino’s work, because he includes the audience in on his jokes. You could do a whole list of Tarantino funny deaths if that was the case. Coens too.
Maybe when Wayne Groh got popped by Deniro… Or when Giovanni Ribisi got popped in Saving Private Ryan. Oh wait the latter was one of the saddest.

December 8th, 2011 at 8:36 AM
He’s gonna have to drive to Pittsburgh to do so.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:37 AM
He’s going to have to drive to PGH mid-game to do it. Crosby didn’t even make the trip.
Flyers should win handily. No Crosby, Pens playing with 3 minor league defensemen, etc.

December 8th, 2011 at 8:50 AM
Human error by 2 untrained co-pilots while the pilot was off napping was the main cause. All started because they didn’t do their research and divert from strong storms that were in the area. All other planes flying through that region had deviated from their original course to go around the storms. This plane tried flying right through it. After a series of small (totally correctable mistakes) the most inexperienced of the pilots then tried ascending the altitude of the plane AFTER IT STALLED and held back the control stick the entire time. Both co-pilots completely ignored 75 stall warnings. By the time the captain returned to fix the situation – it was too late.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:51 AM
steelers win by 56.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:52 AM
It just goes through the recorder tapes for the pilots (all of whom were French). Essentially the co-pilots thought they had the plane climbing, when in reality they were essentially just leveling the plane as it fell.
By the time the head pilot realized their error, he couldn’t generate enough speed to climb prior to impact.

hopefully whoever was asking about the Ken Burns war documentary caught the part of it they were showing on PBS last night, it was pretty good.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:52 AM
indeed…nice shot tubs ahoy.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:53 AM
This is the biggest issue. When your altitude is dropping, it’s counter-intuitive to drop the nose of the plane. It’s the same is if you are skidding on ice driving a car, the first thing you have to do is NOT hit the brakes/try to steer.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:53 AM

They were huge in the early 90′s. Part of their appeal back then was the “American Rock and Roll” feel they had which was especially popular overseas as other countries actually liked us back then.
I’m pretty sure Mötley Crüe and Queensrÿche were part of the Monsters linup that year as well.

the most inexperienced of the pilots then tried ascending the altitude of the plane AFTER IT STALLED and held back the control stick the entire time. Both co-pilots completely ignored 75 stall warnings.
If you have enough altitude, you can recover by descending, building airspeed and by extension, increasing lift. “Lifties” are your friend. A little CRM would have went a long way to avert this tragedy.
Justin Fuente, the TCU co-offensive coordinator, will be announced as the new Memphis football coach.
GTG. I hope it works. The comments were polarized similar to the Porter hire -”great – he’s from a winning program” to “fail – we never heard of this guy”.

When I think of the Black Crowes I just get sad at their underachievement. Twice is Hard is a great rock song. I just envision them sitting in the studio and they cant come up with any more songs remotely good, so they just give up and do absurd amounts of narcotics.

December 8th, 2011 at 9:26 AM
I did this a lot when I was younger, and when it was freezing out like it is now, I’d use the wiffle balls a lot indoors, then not like the feel of hitting those, so used real golf balls instead. My mom didn’t like it too much when she found out she had to fix all the little dents in the wall with golf ball imprints.

His Stand by Me is one of the best remakes of a classic IMO, along with Stevie Wonder’s version We Can Work it Out. I will say I don’t pretend every Lennon or Beatles song is epic though, generally their best stuff gets the most credit.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:30 AM

December 8th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
All for it. So long as Fidel’s nephew remains in Cubbie blue, that’s all I care about. By the time the Cubs are good again, Garza will be on the wrong side of 30. Trade Soto to an American League team as well. Get younger.

Winter is all about improving putting technique. I can’t get anything from taking swings in fear of damanging my house. Maybe just re-read some Hogan, some visualization. Putt Putt Putt.
Latest is find a spot 20 feet from you. THen a spot 10 feet past you. Get a # of balls (the pros use 10, I use 6). Putt the first ball just past 10 feet. Then the next putt has to go past that. And so forth but each ball must be past the preceding shot, and within the 20 foot boundary. So if you putt your first put 13, feet, you know only have 7 feet left for your remaining putts.

I am thinking about getting one of these for christmas. I can use it for golf and hunting, and I have heard good reviews. AC, spence, Roeth, anyone got one or any good/bad reviews?

I went to a soft and slow show on Tuesday night. The National. It was fucking awful. No one in the crowd sings along, no one dancing, nothing. It was like everyone was just looking up at the stage thinking about their ex-girlfriend/boyfriend. It was like a suicide cult in there. I need to research shows before getting dragged to them.
Thankfully, there was beer.

“A Chicago attorney and former chief of staff at a state health care agency, who allegedly exposed her breasts to co-workers, came to work drunk and kept nude photos of herself on state computers, is facing sanctions.”
The part about her and some guy coming to the office at 1:30am, kissing and whatnot, was hilarious.

She reminds me of “Two-Face” from Seinfeld. Sometimes she looks sorta scary and then other times she’s a nice surprise.

I doubt my kids will have a gaming system of any sort until they can buy it themselves. We have a Wii somewhere still in a box and that’s about it. I passed up the $140 Xbox on Black Friday.

Well I shall have to start from the beginning. Got to get a new PS3 first though. Started acting up recently. Last leg.

MCR’s The Black Parade was the best concept album in recent years and due to it’s ambition, I consider it the best rock album of the past 5-7 years. They are not on of my favorite bands but that album is amazing.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
Animals.
my fav pink floyd album.
this has been in my car for about the last 8 months and will not be coming out any time soon. love that album.

The Leupold is better IMO. Smaller, a little better optics, and I think the display is a little clearer. I have the Bushnell 1500 and wouldn’t trade it for anything but a Leupold GX4.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
I bet Charles Wang bought it on a payment plan.

December 8th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
my parents gave me a nintendo in 1990, and a SNES in the mid 90′s. after that, all console purchases were entirely up to me, and considering i scrounged up enough cash to get a PS2, Xbox, N64 when I was in 7th-10th grade… my kids can do the same if they want it enough.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
I am thinking about getting one of these for christmas. I can use it for golf and hunting, and I have heard good reviews. AC, spence, Roeth, anyone got one or any good/bad reviews?
i’d get it. those laser ones are legit.
i have the Callaway uPro which is solid. don’t have to buy courses and it holds a lot more courses than others. i think i have like 30 courses saved on it.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
My sister is getting her eight-year-old son an Xbox 360 this year and he said he wanted Battlefield 3. She told me this and I told her, “are you fucking kidding me?!? Do you realize how violent that is???” She didn’t say anything, then I said, “They say fuck and shit and other cusswords in there.” Then she was all, “yeah, don’t buy it.”
Yeah, MW3 ain’t happening for the kid.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
No idea. I downloaded the free golf GPS app for my phone earlier this summer. Every local course I played was on it, and though it’s no frills it seemed more than accurate enough (it gave distances to front/middle/back of green, but nothing relative to bunkers/water clearance, etc.)

I bought that off of iTunes a week or two ago, I could’ve sworn I had the CD somewhere, couldn’t find it though. Same boat as they aren’t one of my favorite bands, but going through it again, some/most songs are fantastic.
/”Teenagers” uses ‘could care less’ so I hate it a little now.

If they just get one solid pitcher I’ll be happy. Its not like they had a bad team last year or lost a lot of guys. I dont know about this Bard going to the rotation idea though.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
Tell him he can have it in 7 years. No fucking way would I want my 8-year-old playing those games.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
Animals.
my fav pink floyd album.
Wish You Were Here is NEVER out of my rotation.
IMHO, their best album is Delicate Sound of Thunder, which was a live show in Long Island in 1987 (I think).
December 8th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
Don’t get the Ovie roid thing. Passed every test so why would he stop taking them if he had undetectable roids? Russian mob cut off his supply?
December 8th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
Urinal Mint, Leupold optics are fucking sweet, but you usually pay the price for them. I just looked that GX4 and it was over $400, that is pretty damn steep. I looked at Leupold scopes when I got my new rifle last year and they were the best for sure. I ended up with a Nikon, which I am happy with.

I understand MW3 but what’s wrong with Madden?
December 8th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
Yep. All of this. Parents got me an NES and Genesis. After that I always somehow came up with the money for N64, Dreamcast, PS2 and Gamecube. Kids can get a hold of the money to pay for it. Teaches them to save as well.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:47 AM

When I used to work at the video store, I’d have parents come in renting GTA or whatever for their 13 year old kids and younger. After a while, I started saying, “do you know how much violence is in that game?” Parents wouldn’t do shit. But when I said, “and you can pick up prostitutes,” they went off and said “put it back.” Got so many kids pissed off at me. I loved that shit.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
First system I bought on my own was my PS1 after I graduated high school from my buddy including FF7 & FF8, two controllers, along with guides for $100.
Going to have a major issue when I have kids, because I love gaming, but as I said before, I will make sure the kids play tame stuff and the classics first.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
Who the hell is going to close if that happens?
December 8th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
This is why I hate the FCC. Yeah, showing Jack Bauer blowing some dude away is totally okay. However, if you show a women naked, then all hell breaks loose and the children are going to run around naked all of the time trying to fuck everything that moves. It’s ridiculous.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:49 AM
Don’t get the Ovie roid thing. Passed every test so why would he stop taking them if he had undetectable roids?
I was joking, absolutely zero evidence. He’s had testing at both the Olympics and World Championships.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:49 AM
Teenagers is probably the least-good song on that album.
In order of greatness: Famous Last Words, Sleep, Black Parage, I Don’t Love You, Cancer, Disenchanted…
December 8th, 2011 at 9:49 AM
I went to a soft and slow show on Tuesday night. The National
If I’m in the mood I can dig The National. Don’t know how I would feel being blindsided by a concert of theirs. I wouldn’t have been surprised if people were crying in the audience.

December 8th, 2011 at 9:50 AM
I would not buy Madden for a kid. That game is such a cash dump now. Want the probowl teams? That will cost 5 dollars. Alternate jerseys? 6.99. Online play? 9.99. Just complete bullshit what they did to that series.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:50 AM
I don’t know the ‘Ovie roid thing’ nor care, but read this far and just have to say: Barry Bonds passed every test, too. Not much of an argument.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:51 AM
dumb question here, but does saving the courses make it quicker, where you don’t have to shoot to the flag?
I downloaded one of the gps deals for my phone, but it seemed like it took to long to load and I didn’t like it much.

My big gripe with the Bushnell is the battery door. Whoever designed the thing needs to be dragged into the street and shot in the face. If you can find a 1500 I’d get that one before I got a 1600. I dunno if you play courses with elevation, but if you don’t, don’t bother with the slope feature. It’ll save you some scratch.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:55 AM

December 8th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
I played M rated games when I was 14 or so (couldn’t imagine an 8 year old playing…that’s a little ridiculous), and I didn’t find it to be so bad.
But even before that, I would play Beetle Adventure Racing on N64 (fantastic game) while blasting a Blink-182 CD that would say ‘shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, tits, fart, turd, and twat’ over and over again…so if the kids aren’t getting it from videogames, they’ll get it from somewhere else.
And parents will go crazy because they didn’t know what their kids were getting.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
How was Dark Side destroyed by classic rock radio? If you’re driving and listening to a classic rock station, I doubt you’ve ever been disappointed to hear “Time” come on instead of more fucking AC/DC.

I dunno if you play courses with elevation, but if you don’t, don’t bother with the slope feature. It’ll save you some scratch.
Also, if your looking to play in a State/National Am. tournament you can’t have one that adjust for slope.
First time I played in an Am. I was the only one there walking yardages. Helps with pace of play for sure but seems unfair to me unless there is no yardage book for the course (there wasn’t for this one.)

Not really. The chapters are titled Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I only just finished Friday. At this point I’d say stay away, unless you can get it for cheap.

I don’t see it. My guess is Miller sucks for 2 months to get Doubrant ready. If Doubrant comes to camp in shape, the job is his by June.
