C.J. Wilson Signs With Angels For Five-Years, $75 Million
Former Rangers pitcher C.J. Wilson, who’s probably most famous for being mediocre in the postseason and dating the visually enticing Dominique Piek, has signed a 5-year, $75 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels. That brings the club’s spending tally for the day to $325 million and it’s not even noon. Safe to say Arte Moreno’s morning has been far more impressive than yours.
Wilson pitched a career-high 223.1 innings last season to go along with a WHIP of 1.19.
Because of this news and accompanying research, I learned there is a website entitled “CJ Wilson is a Douche.” The more you know.

1. No really, fuck the Royals for selling a Red Sox Rule 5 pick to the Yankees
2. Former Red Sox top prospect Ryan Westmoreland is going to play in a game (DH) for the first time in 2 years following brain surgery to repair a cavernous malformation.

Thanks for the run Rangers….
$325 million for two playes? It’s not a good day to be a team like the Mariners, Royals, Twins, Rockies, Astros, etc….
December 8th, 2011 at 11:33 AM
Man, Tribe should put Fausto on the market if teams are willing to drop this kinda scrilla for a #3 pitcher.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:34 AM
When exactly was it?
December 8th, 2011 at 11:34 AM
The Pirates paying their draft picks is ruining baseball.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:36 AM
a cavernous malformation.
Wow. Definitely don’t want to hear that from any doctor. God bless him.

I think the Astros proved in the past that they can spend the money with the big boys, just not very smartly. And for that we are now paying.

How long until Arte Moreno wishes he would have just got a falcon?
December 8th, 2011 at 11:43 AM
CJ Wilson is a straight edge. Those people freak me out.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:43 AM
Rangers will be much more interested in Garza now. Parting with those top prospects or MLB players will be easier.

(per Tim Britton)… well at least they don’t have to play against Albert Pujols. For a year.

Yes, I’ve already bitched about that in a previous thread.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:47 AM
I find it funny that we live in a world where CJ Wilson makes almost as much money per year as Albert Pujols.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:48 AM
5. put 20 bucks of gas in minivan
That’ll last around two days at most, right?

AL West vs. NL Central in interleague 2013. I want to hear the best fans in baseball™ boo their former hero. Make it happen schedule makers. Duracell would probably sponsor that series.

Oh my. Peter Gammons saying it’s a strong possibility the Cubs will sign Fielder? How does one prepare crow? Is it good with a side of hat? Shoe?
He’s approaching senility so I suppose I’ll just preheat the oven but not get out the ingredients yet.

There was a post about the same time it was “broken” that Theo was joining the Cubs. Wasn’t much in doubt…

Jeff Probst just married Mark Paul Gosselaar’s ex wife!
December 8th, 2011 at 12:01 PM
Yeah, but there’s a lot of business and development going up in the Center Valley/Saucony area, right? At least, it seems that way to an outsider.
December 8th, 2011 at 12:02 PM
I just saw that! I was confused because I thought he married that former Survivor contestant from Maine but I guess they just dated. She’s really not that good looking.

Vez, I’m not looking it up either but I think the Angels were #1 in attendance last year. And for the comment that “you’d have to pay me $250M to live in OC” (ATL_Badger I think?) I feel ya. You couldn’t pay me enough money to live on the beach with hot girls in bikinis running around all year long.
December 8th, 2011 at 2:15 PM
Angels in 2012 will be awesome. Angels in 2015 will be a laughing stock.

You couldn’t pay me enough money to live on the beach with hot girls in bikinis running around all year long.
Anaheim’s on the coast? Since when? What did I miss? My trip through orange county/Anaheim consisted of terrible traffic/sprawl, and a bunch of nice looking strip malls that all looked the same. If he wanted to live on the beach he should have gone to the Marlins. No state income tax there either. I’m sure CA is going to rape him a new one.
