Albert Pujols Signs With . . . The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
Albert Pujols flirted with the Miami Marlins and their grand uniforms. The St. Louis Cardinals were in discussions until late yesterday. But it is an American League team, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, who have swooped in with the ridiculous offer of 10 years, 250 to 260 million, according to Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports. According to Brown, Pujols just decided this morning to sign with the Angels. He’ll be able to move to DH 4 years into this 10 year deal.

Holy Shit ! Holy Shit ! Holy Shit !
December 8th, 2011 at 10:15 AM
David Backes. That’s what you’re left with, St. Louis. Good luck with that. How could El Hombre leave the best fans in baseball?!?!?!?
Now someone in the AL sign Prince Fielder so that the NL Central can be ripe for the Cubs’ taking in 2 years.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:16 AM
Makes sense to go to the AL. He can transition to a DH as he gets a bit older. Good for him.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:16 AM
What’s Kendry Morales status? The Tribe really really needs a 1B.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:17 AM
You gotta hand it to Moreno and company. They don’t mind going for it.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:18 AM
It’s going to feel really weird for the first couple of months. On the plus side, plenty of 9pm games on ESPN this year, love late night baseball.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:18 AM
healthy pending another season ending injury.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:18 AM
Lots of speculation he or Trumbo will be on their way out. Could see the Rays or Cards or another team make a move.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:18 AM
damn. i was holding out hope he’d sign with the Indians.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:19 AM
Trumbo available? If so, we’d be glad to take him off your hands, Moreno.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:19 AM
KROD accepted the Brewers arbitration. FUCK. They were not counting on that.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:19 AM
They should go after Trumbo instead. He’s under control longer.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:20 AM
where does the Angels stadium rank as a hitters park compared to the cardinal’s stadium?
December 8th, 2011 at 10:20 AM
I’ll take it! Zach McAllister and Cord Phelps for Kendry. Get it done!
December 8th, 2011 at 10:20 AM
He brought 2 World Series titles so good luck to him in CA. Can’t blame the Cards for not matching.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:21 AM
C’mon Fielder to the Cubs!!!

I was really hoping the Pirates were the “mystery team”
December 8th, 2011 at 10:21 AM
He taking swings in a batting cage but still only running on an unweighted treadmill.
Supposedly Trumbo was going to be working out in right field and third base this off-season. They certainly can’t keep all three though.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:22 AM
Makes sense. $260MM is about the amount of money you’d have to pay me to live in Orange County.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:22 AM
Scott Rolen called it “baseball heaven” before he pouted his way out of town.
I know a couple of St. Louis sports fans who thought Cleveland fans should “just get over it” with Lebron. I’m anxious awaiting some repressed Midwestern animosity today.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
Both are neutral stadiums from last year’s ESPN park factors. Anaheim is a little easier to hit as a RH hitter.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
Trumbo works for me. We’ll throw in LaPorta.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
Battier to the Heat.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
I’m already pumping Cardinal fan tears into my body intravenously.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
kind of the way I am looking at it. glad the Cards didn’t hamstring themselves with that contract. money talks, oh well. thanks for the time Albert.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:24 AM
Well at least the Cards can move Berkman to first. That amounts to lengthening his career since he won’t have to run nearly as much as he did in right field.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:24 AM
They are going to be ridiculous on defense.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:24 AM
Battier to the Heat.
Ugh, great signing for the Heat.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:25 AM
Battier to the Heat.
He was a good role player for the Grizz, but Tony Allen can take some more of those minutes.
If Morales gets healthy, he would be a good fit for the Nationals. Morse is a decent left fielder, and LaRoche is inconsistent and injury-prone.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:25 AM
Good thing Cardinal fans have an endless supply of meth available to help soothe their wounds.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:25 AM
If Morales is healthy, he probably is the DH. Trumbo can be moved to the OF for now. I honestly wonder if Morales is going to be coming back. This injury has been kept pretty quiet and ambiguous about what is going on.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:25 AM
What is this “Anaheim Angels” shit? What is this, 2003?
December 8th, 2011 at 10:26 AM

December 8th, 2011 at 10:27 AM

which LaRoche?
December 8th, 2011 at 10:27 AM
This is hilarious.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:27 AM
Beyond idiotic deal!! The most Pujols was offered was $210 mill. Why would Anaheim come in and pay $50 mill more?? Just like when A-rod opted out and yanks paid about the same more to keep him when no one else wanted him! Albert is a great player. However, no one in the game deserves 1/4 of a billion $. Senseless.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:27 AM
What is this “Anaheim Angels” shit? What is this, 2003?
I thought that looked weird, but then again they change that part so often, I am always confused about what it is at the moment.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:28 AM
interesting take. Battier seems like one of the few class acts in the NBA.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:28 AM
easy now, don’t get delusional.
Look who you’re talking to. SC can convince himself of anything if he wants to.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:28 AM
Anyone think the Rangers get back in on Fielder to counter the Angels?
Nope. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in Seattle.

No…one of them is getting traded, they need to let Trout play as many games as possible. Guy is going to be a beast.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:29 AM
Change is inevitable. He’s gonna straight heel.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:30 AM
and LaRoche is inconsistent and injury-prone.
which LaRoche?
Adam. Left/left. Opening day starter for the Nats at 1B. Got hurt in May, opening a lineup slot for Morse. With Arizona in ’10, he had 90+ RBI, if I recollect correctly.
Doubles machine. Decent line-drive stroke. Wasn’t he diagnosed with some condition while with Atlanta a few years ago?
December 8th, 2011 at 10:30 AM
Who is getting Gio from the A’s?
December 8th, 2011 at 10:30 AM
Danny Glover and Tony Danza had a hand in this, no doubt.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:30 AM
Fielder will be going to Cubs.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:31 AM
There’s going to be a landslide of deals today. Twitter is going to be awesome. Big domino has fallen. Now the pay scale has been set.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:31 AM
If you sign with Miami you instantly lose all credibility as a classy guy.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:31 AM
Nope. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in Seattle.
Jack Zduriencik has been saying this isn’t the case… but who knows.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:32 AM
Fielder will be going to Cubs.
Would be a waste of three years of his prime. Wouldn’t be terrible to see the Cubs get saddled with another big contract though.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:32 AM

although, it would be funny to see a fat, drunk cardinals fan buy tickets to every pujols game, sit behind homeplate, and heckle the shit out of him in spanish… so he can’t pretend he doens’t know what’s being said.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:32 AM
Hopefully the Tigers
December 8th, 2011 at 10:33 AM
Being happy for Battier winning a title and getting to watch Lebron haters squirm is almost reason enough for me to care about the NBA. We’re one stadium in collapse in Cleveland from me being a full on casual fan.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:34 AM
For Turner and Castellanos. Be happy with Octavio Dotel.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:34 AM
Fielder ain’t coming here. Jim Hendry hasn’t been employed since June. That fat sack of shit is going to the AL.
The NL Central is going to be so bad next year. Go Pirates!
December 8th, 2011 at 10:34 AM
Danny Glover and Tony Danza had a hand in this, no doubt.
The oddest part of that movie to me was the fact that they said Tony Danza’s character was going to die in a few months. If I recall it was because he smoked or used tobacco or something.
It was nice for Disney to insert a moral message for kids in there.

Dang, if this happens. Gio is what they used to call a “stylish left-hander”. Good stuff, deceptively hard thrower. Good all-around pitcher.
December 8th, 2011 at 10:35 AM
I can get on board with this
December 8th, 2011 at 10:35 AM
I read that Beane is asking for two or three top pitching prospects in return. How long is Gio locked in for? Price seems steep.

What? It wasn’t even his idea. You’d do the same thing if one of your people came to you and said we’re going to put this on TV for charity. He shouldn’t have done it, but lets stop acting like this is the worst thing ever while Marvin Harrison gets honored during a Colts game. Congrats on escaping that murder charge Marvin!

December 8th, 2011 at 11:05 AM
TBL is one of the worst twitter follows around. Mostly either trolling, smugness, or self-pats on the back. You gotta just let it pass.
/follows him for the post updates since my browser is lagging
December 8th, 2011 at 11:05 AM
it just sounds like something that snake would do, badger. I cant help but think it was only charity after the uproar.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:06 AM
So all those Boys and Girls Club kids sitting behind him at the thing were just there by accident and he figured “hey, I can use this!” the next day. Makes sense.
Lebron is more honorable than the vast majority of professional athletes.
And let’s not act like there hasn’t been a free agency circus around Pujols and his contract negotiations for over a year.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:07 AM

December 8th, 2011 at 11:07 AM

2013 Cubs baseball cannot get here soon enough.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:08 AM
Fuck that. Number one, with a bullet: Mulan.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:08 AM
This was basically my equivalent to what kids in the 70′s/80′s had with Leia.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:08 AM
it just sounds like something that snake would do, badger. I cant help but think it was only charity after the uproar.
Well, I mean he held it at a boys and girls club… which all the proceeds were going to, and it was announced it was for charity before it happened. Like I said, it was a terribly executed idea and he (more likely his people) handled it poorly, but if one of my worst decisions ends up helping a charity, then well, sue me.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:08 AM
jasmine’s so hot i want to take her behind the middle school and get her pregnant.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:08 AM
Clearly.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:08 AM
Aurora from Sleeping Beauty is majorly underrated by the by. She could get it in many senses.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
Not really.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
/where were you supporters last season?
Right here. Telling the irrational haters to get over it.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
belle was from beauty and the beast
aurora was sleeping beauty
snow white was the ugliest
December 8th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
Best thing about showering with Jasmine? When you slick her hair back, she looks 11.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
Raja gonna bite your ass.

This conversation just took an abrupt turn.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:11 AM
Is this 2nd wild card going to start this season or in ’13 with the Astros move?
December 8th, 2011 at 11:12 AM
Huh?
No princesses, but Fox and the Hound is on Disney tomorrow afternoon. I have it DVR’ed because I don’t know where my VHS’s are.

December 8th, 2011 at 11:14 AM
are we just talking disney characters here? because clearly Jessica Rabbit takes the cake every time right, at least if we are talking cartoon hotties?
December 8th, 2011 at 11:15 AM
Obligatory Kim K as Jasmine pic.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:15 AM
Aurora was my favorite princess. I thought she was so pretty AND she had fairies that changed her dress into any color she wanted. Jasmine has a weird nose. Ariel was cute but I was pissed at her for abandoning her dad like that (even though she left him for Eric, the best looking prince of all the Disney movies).
December 8th, 2011 at 11:16 AM
My personal favorite is Mirage from “The Incredibles”.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:16 AM
Some floozy working a dead end job singing for drunks? We are talking about marrying royalty here!
December 8th, 2011 at 11:18 AM
I always had it bad for Ali, even though he wasnt even a real Prince, because I was in love with DJ’s boyfriend from Full House.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:18 AM
Jessica from Roger Rabbit
December 8th, 2011 at 11:19 AM
I thought it was weird that he wore black face in Princess and the Frog.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:19 AM
For me I need to see Jasmine and Jessica Rabbit mud wrestle for the crown. Also I need assurance that the other side of Jessica Rabbit’s face that no one has ever seen isn’t horribly disfigured
December 8th, 2011 at 11:20 AM
DJ’s boyfriend from Full House.
Steve?
December 8th, 2011 at 11:20 AM
You’re 100% right. I loved DJ’s boyfriend as well. Aladdin and Eric are tied for first.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:20 AM
Viper was DJ’s bf for awhile too
December 8th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
Good God.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:23 AM
Elasti-girl blows that skinny bitch out of the water. Milf.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:24 AM
Steve was great.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:25 AM
In other news… fuck the Royals. Selling a Rule 5 pick to the Yankees, you cheap bastards I hope you go 0-162.
/no really, “Fuck KC” will be a common theme in my Yardwork comments for 2012
December 8th, 2011 at 11:27 AM
I guess the Yanks will probably have to return him to the Red Sox anyway when they need to start patching their rotation together.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:32 AM
I’ll take Jasmine as my #1 Disney princess.
This was basically my equivalent to what kids in the 70′s/80′s had with Leia.
do yourself and your penis a favor and check out an old I dream of Jeannie episodes. barbara eden could get it. one of my earliest fantasies was being in that bottle with her and all those pillows
December 8th, 2011 at 11:33 AM
yeah my bad on the pujols bilinguality thing. he was in the dr until he was 16. he just comes off like a guy with a hispanic name who was born here and never learned spanish
December 8th, 2011 at 11:35 AM
I know a couple of St. Louis sports fans who thought Cleveland fans should “just get over it” with Lebron. I’m anxious awaiting some repressed Midwestern animosity today.

that’s awesome. people are so stupid sometimes it’s hilarious.
December 8th, 2011 at 12:50 PM
Can’t wait when the Angels regret this signing in 5 years. At least Albert has revealed his true identity: a delusional, greedy douchebag
December 8th, 2011 at 2:11 PM
As a Cards fan, sad to see him go, but I know this is best for the franchise long term.
Also, I’m glad that other commentors are calling out TBL on his NBA v. MLB crusade.
