Been crushing on her for 10 years now, and she gets hotter.
What the fuck?
December 6th, 2011 at 8:10 AM
Suspended for calling a teacher cute? WTF? The substitute who ratted out that kid is a bitch
December 6th, 2011 at 8:13 AM
How do you expect them to investigate that shit with all these meheecans running around.

74-Year-Old College Professor Charged With Running Somerville Meth Lab
When I was in grad school all of the necessary chemicals were easily available in large quantities. Surprised this does not happen more.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:15 AM
Well, if there’s any consolation, we finally found out how to get the media to STFU about him this week.
/have the Cowboys screw up
//Good God, you’d think they lost the Super Bowl

I guess the Coach K Sportsman of the Year news came out too late to make his column.

Stacy Keibler? Let’s’ see – nice figure, dark colors/soft fabric wrapped around such figure…
Yeah, I guess she’ll do.
/I’m breathless
December 6th, 2011 at 8:20 AM
For the little bit that I watched late-Sunday and Monday, I saw plenty more Tebow than Cowboys fail. But you’re the expert.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:22 AM
For those of you who are too young, there was a time when Kathie Lee was about as overexposed as Tim Tebow and the Kardashians combined. Hard as that is to believe.
Does anybody know if Cody is about as screwed up as Macaulay Culkin yet?
December 6th, 2011 at 8:23 AM
but at least those immigrants will be fully vetted and offenders in county lockup will have an uncomfortable time in their pink jumpsuits.

My mistake is listening to Mike & Mike the last two days here. Our other morning shows are even worse.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:23 AM
Instead of Tebow for MVP I’m wondering how he started ahead of Cam Newton.
/Other than the whole dumpster laptop thing
December 6th, 2011 at 8:24 AM
since most are controlled substances, aren’t there detailed records of the inventory?
That was quite a few years ago before ephedrine and pseudoephedrine were controlled. Not sure what is going on now. Academic labs have a lot of leeway.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:24 AM
Does anybody know if Cody is about as screwed up as Macaulay Culkin yet?
I dont think so, but Haley Joel Osmont got all bloated fat.

I saw Culkin in Las Vegas this Feburary when we were staying at Mandalay Bay. He walked thru the casino near us looking strung out and frazzled, checking his blackberry. The dealer said “Oh, he just looks that way cause he’s been up all night gambling”……………righhhhhhhttttt

December 6th, 2011 at 8:39 AM
How do you walk into a propeller?
December 6th, 2011 at 8:39 AM
Definitely. She does have nice legs.
Like how Les Miles “holds the players back” before they run on the field.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:42 AM
if you’ve never been around them before, it’s very easy to do so if you aren’t paying attention.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:42 AM
As far as the LSU cheerleader video goes, nice job with the song selection, love me some B.o.B.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:45 AM
How do you walk into a propeller?
You are guarding a plane that is supposed to take the recently found Ark of the Covenant to a secure Nazi location. Then, a violent archeologist who scrupulous methods comes, kicks you in the face and engages you in a challenge of fisticuffs, all while the plane you have been guarding has been careening across the runway. Shit happens every day.
Also, in 1983 Aussie golfer Jack Newton (who had a 2nd in the Masters and British Open) lost his arm to a propeller on a very dark runway incident.

Did anybody see the Blu Ray set for GoT? Holy crap it looks amazing, day 1 buy in March.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
Of course. That’s like saying when you are holding a knife you have to be careful. But shit happens. Maybe she wasn’t used to being around these small planes. Maybe she was on her phone playing hanging with friends. I’m just saying it seems like something that is a no-brainer but we all get distracted and all it takes is a moment of carelessness in an otherwise careful life for something like this to happen.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
it snowed about 1/4″ here last night. just enough to get some black ice, and all the fuckers who can’t drive out on the roads. what’s best is I have seen them close schools on a threat of snow, yet there were bus’s everywhere this morning. idiots.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:02 AM
i’d rank it higher than GoT, but lower than Mad Men at this point.
so, my list would go:
Breaking Bad
Mad Men
Justified
Homeland
Game of Thrones
Shameless

December 6th, 2011 at 9:06 AM
I’ll never forget my only December in Atlanta – I was in the library at school, see a few flakes falling outside, and a classmate says they’re probably going to close the school, I thought he was kidding. 15 minutes later I get an email from them saying not only are classes canceled that day, but the next day as well.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:06 AM

December 6th, 2011 at 9:10 AM

I can’t see the name “Gifford” without recalling the time Stuttering John asked him if Cody ever mistakenly called him Grandpa.
Which always bring to mind the time Stuttering John asked Ringo if he thought they shot the wrong Beatle.

December 6th, 2011 at 9:11 AM
also, game of thrones is a bit lower on the list for me since i’ve read the source material and it’s got a very high bar to live up to in my mind, so it’s a notch lower than it probably is for everyone else.

I decided I’m accepting and enjoying what Tim Tebow™ is. I did this as soon as I realized he makes a conscious decision to wear that lose-fitting tie thing at every post-game presser like a fucking Jonas brother or something. It’s your world, Tebow.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:16 AM

December 6th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
I like Boardwalk Empire, but I always find myself looking to see how much time is left in the episode, hoping it’s going to be over soon.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
Also,l it was 32 degrees this morning in uptown Dallas. After a summer of 100-plus every day, I’m not complaining.

No matter what he did at LaSalle, Speedy will always be considered one of the greatest high school coaches to coach in Philadelphia. His Roman Catholic teams in the 70′s were dominant.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:20 AM
Speaking of HBO mob shows, I watched the Sopranos where Melfi gets raped in the stairwell last night. There’s two things that I can’t stand to watch on TV or movies. Rape scenes and animals getting killed. Slaughter all the humans you want, just stop raping women and killing puppies.
Good episode though. Love the ending as always.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
You must netflix Irreversible immediately.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:21 AM

December 6th, 2011 at 9:22 AM
I’m looking forward to the season finale, but that one scene in the last episode with the flashback showing Jimmy at college was one I could have done without seeing.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:22 AM
I watch none of the ‘hip’ shows. I feel ok with it. Would like to check out Homeland, if it gets on Netflix I will.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:22 AM
it was too slow for my tastes when i watched it, nothing would grip me.
although, the ending of the pilot was extremely predictable and i was disappointed with scorcese’s effort on that, and i haven’t been able to shake the feeling the show won’t live up to the marketing.

December 6th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
Just started with that show this summer, it’s not bad and getting better as I go. Though, now I’ve moved and don’t have the XBox hooked up so I don’t have Netflix at the moment.

I like repetitive nudity too.
Just started that last weekend. I like it… although I don’t really find it all that realistic… not sure if it’s supposed to be. I guess I’m confused as to whether its supposed to be a drama or comedy. Sometimes it’s both. Emmy Rossum is pretty though…. when she’s not looking like a White Sox fan.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
I just recently caught up on “Mad Men”. I think I live watching TV shows in catch up mode, on DVD, as opposed to waiting for episodes, week to week.

Don’t worry I did the work independently.
Regular Season EVSV% Career – 0.9285
Elimination Games EVSV% – 0.9292
So he’s marginally better in elimination games than in his career regular season totals. Regular season totals that place him among the elite in the game.

December 6th, 2011 at 9:32 AM
Its a comedy. Trys to be more at times but really its a comedy with tits and alcoholism.

Those fatasses probably thought they were ordering a nice beef stock for their morning breakfast meat smoothies.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:34 AM
It’s tough stuff until it really gets rolling. Season two is even worse because they introduce so many new characters who dominate the screen time and for a while you’re like, “Who are these dudes? And why do I care?”
December 6th, 2011 at 9:34 AM
Shhhh, you’re getting in the way of the narrative
December 6th, 2011 at 9:34 AM
Its a comedy. Trys to be more at times but really its a comedy with tits and alcoholism.
Oh I know… there are just scenes where it seems like its trying to be more. I just watched the episode where that annoying kid from war of the worlds kidnaps Fiona’s dad after he headbutts his kid and drops him off in Canada.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:34 AM
i’d say the show starts out as a very strong 6 out of 10, by the end of the first season and beginning of the second it’s easily very near 10 out of 10 quality and very addictive.

I didn’t like season 2 at all the first time I watched it. It was okay… but like you said, I found myself not really caring about the Greeks. Afterwards I had a very nice appreciation for it though.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:37 AM
Anyone see the latest episode of Hell on Wheels?
December 6th, 2011 at 9:37 AM
Season two was my second favorite behind season three. So much better the second time around.
Though it was retarded that they clearly suggest Nick gets murdered at the end then bring him back for a meaningless cameo in season five.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:37 AM
I feel I am way too late on Breaking Bad though. Hate playing catchup.
i’d say the show starts out as a very strong 6 out of 10, by the end of the first season and beginning of the second it’s easily very near 10 out of 10 quality and very addictive.
If I was good at making analogies, I’d make a dinner plate analogy, and the Walter White/Jesse stuff early is the delicious, savory meat. And the disabled son and fucking stupid Skyler White stuff is the overcooked side dishes. And the Hank/sister in law stuff is a dessert you really dislike, but you’re eating it anyway because it’s sweet, and you’re a fat, self loathing bastard.
But I really am awful at analogies.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:37 AM
the season started with deangelo’s murder trial, the witness being killed, mcnulty telling the judge, the formation of the unit, and the riot in the high rises, etc..
December 6th, 2011 at 9:38 AM
This is the common response about Season 2. Some people are so transformed afterward that they mistakenly think it’s the best season of the lot. These people are wrong.
/nods at season 4
December 6th, 2011 at 9:38 AM
I loved season two the second time through. And it because even more darkly funny that the narrative is mostly driven by a stain glass window.

they didn’t suggest Nick gets murdered. the crew had already left town b/c they had too much heat on them as it was

i’ve heard interesting thoughts that breaking bad is actually a story about hanks investigation told from the perspective of Walt… the more i think about it, the more intriguing that idea is.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
Also, regular season totals that don’t mean anything once he and his team reach the tournament. Just ask Alex Ovechkin how criticism is distributed in that regard. Especially to a guy averaging 1.64 points a game in elimination games.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
I was mad Nicky’s wife didn’t get a cameo in season five. She could’ve brought her friends with her.

Nah, it’s a story of how an extreme situation forces a man down a different path, and how his pride and gradual loss of his moral fiber destroys himself and all those around him.
Or, as Gilligan says all the time, “How Mr. Chips becomes Scarface.”
December 6th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
season 2 is no different than season 4, in terms on a different angle to pursue (docks vs schools) and the introduction to new characters. I like the schools part of season 4 but didn’t really care for the ‘street’ side of things. Marlo was just weird, so was Snoop. and I didn’t like seeing the Barksdale crew (Bodie/Slim Slim Charles) so weak.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
Vlad-Saw your post last night regarding Hell on Wheels. It was chili peppers rubbed on the fist wrap that blinded him. The Irish guy got the chili peppers earlier in the episode.

John Druce is the greatest playoff goal scorer of all time. He once scored 14 goals in 15 playoff games. So glad I can just ignore the fact that he scored 113 in 531 regular season games.

I’m assigning losses to the guy that gave up 4 goals in Game 6 and 4 goals in Game 7 with a chance to win a championship. Those 4 goals in Game 6 came in about 9 minutes of TOI.
The other ones? Sure, team at fault just as much as the goalie. Luongo lost games 6 and 7 of the Finals last year. That can’t be disputed.

yeah, there’s no doubt about that. the theory about hanks investigation came up in an interview with Gilligan, i think, when talking about how hank has been beating around the bush with Walt.

I can’t stand that guy. Not sure how he has a sustainable business model either… just driving $100,000 cars away from a valet and re-selling them. Seems like someone would catch on, even in a city as big as Chicago.

December 6th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
I don’t understand what the Marlins are doing. They had the reasonable business model of not over-paying for players and had some decent success with that. Past couple of years have been bad because their 1st round draft picks have been horrendous for a while now. But now they go out and sign 34 year old Heath Bell for $9M a year? Offer 31 year old* Albert all of those years? Give a SS $100MM when they have Hanley? Seems crazy.
*he’s probably 34-45
December 6th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
How much money did the Miami offer 38 year old Albert Puljos?
December 6th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
Can’t spend money on draft picks anymore. Having a string of bad first rounders the last few years will tank a team with the new CBA.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:58 AM
Fuck you.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:58 AM

Well I don’t think it was unreasonable to take it that The Greek’s guy on the inside could have been influencing them considering Nicky was the one guy left who could ID them and the fact that Vondas and The Greek end up coming back into town. I just don’t think bringing Nicky back to yell at a press conference was worthwhile.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:05 AM
Marlins revenue last year (per Forbes) was only 143 mill.
I wonder how much of an increase they’ll see this year. Interesting gamble.

I cannot wait for the Marlins to be exposed as frauds and busted by the feds for bribery and improper business dealings for the new stadium. Loria and Samson deserve any bad things that happen to them
December 6th, 2011 at 10:08 AM
they are using the Mets/Omar Minaya model, but in a market where it will work.

I know they’re spending a lot now because they have that new ballpark… but unless they become immediate contenders with these signings, that place will be empty next year… then what? Teams in a market like Miami should be copying and pasting exactly what the Rays do.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:09 AM
Loria and Samson deserve any bad things that happen to them
I’m of the belief that they’re both just good businessmen. The city of Miami and the voters that approved that money pit should look in the mirror.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:10 AM
They are good but they are also shady and huge dickwads
December 6th, 2011 at 10:11 AM
They are good but they are also shady and huge dickwads
How so? Their job is to turn a profit. If they lied, okay, then they’re dickwads, but everything I’ve read is that the SEC is looking into the city of Miami and not the Marlins.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:13 AM
New stadium + better location + shady sources of revenue = ability to spend on FAs.
Phillies were a bottom ten spending team before they opened Citizens Bank Park, then they signed Thome in 2003, and it lead to gradual increase of revenues. Plus they had Howard, Utley, Rollins and Hamels come up through the system. Miami is doing very similar to Phillies in this regard. Instead, they have Stanton, Hanley, LoMo, Gaby Sanchez, Josh Johnson.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:13 AM
It depends on if you thought the FBI guy on the inside was on The Greek’s payroll, or if you thought the FBI guy was protecting The Greek because The Greek fed him information on other, perhaps more dangerous, bad guys.
I thought it was the former, but it seems a lot of critics are going with the latter.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:14 AM
New stadium + better location + shady sources of revenue = ability to spend on FAs.
Haven’t we learned that spending big money on FA’s really isn’t the best way to go? I guess it’s worked once for NY in the last 10 years. But I’d much rather be the Rays right now than the Phillies.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:15 AM
/looks at Ryan Howards contract
//laughs if they re-sign rollins to big $$
December 6th, 2011 at 10:15 AM
also, making the playoffs more frequently is also a main driving force of revenue. continued success, even if it’s not a WS, is why teams with deep pockets have those funds.
if the marlins make these big signings and get to the playoffs every year for a couple years, they can spend even more.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:16 AM
Teams in a market like Miami should be copying and pasting exactly what the Rays do.
New stadium + better location + shady sources of revenue = ability to spend on FAs.
Wish Loria had done this during those few moments he owned my beloved Expos. There might still be a team in Montreal…
December 6th, 2011 at 10:16 AM
It’s very tenous, one slip up, and the Rays can go down the tubes. The Phillies, Yankees, Red Sox, etc, have a much larger margin for error.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:18 AM
say what you want about the yankees spending, but their spending gets them to the playoffs where it makes them a ton of money by keeping the team popular with their continued success.
a TV network always helps, too.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:18 AM
Call me crazy but are we really assuming that the Marlins are going to see the huge stadium bump that Pittsburgh saw with PNC? It’s intriguing to see how a fanbase that didn’t give a shit when the team was good with a bad ballpark handles this.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:18 AM
It’s very tenous, one slip up, and the Rays can go down the tubes. The Phillies, Yankees, Red Sox, etc, have a much larger margin for error.
I agree with the second part of course… not necessarily the first though. The Rays have a ton of young talent… and they’ve been pretty good at re-stocking the farm for awhile now. As soon as their guys reach free agency, they let them go…. and bring up someone from the minors. I know the Rays signed Longoria to an extension, but that was before he reached FA, yes? Which I believe is what teams in markets like Tampa, Miami, Milwaukee, KC, etc. have to do.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:19 AM
Oh Jesus Christ there’s a paperback of that ESPN book out now? I had forgot all the blogs schilling for it. So so so fucking boring.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:19 AM
Very much so. Winning consistently leads to more butts in the seats which leads to more revenue. Except in the case of the Rays. But we have seen this in Texas, Philly, Detroit, Boston, Milwaukee, Seattle back in the early 2000s.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:20 AM
Call me crazy but are we really assuming that the Marlins are going to see the huge stadium bump that Pittsburgh saw with PNC? I
Unless they start winning that division (they’re in one with the Braves and Philllies…so good luck), they’ll go back to drawing 17K a game next year.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:22 AM
I mean for the first season. Did season ticket sales go through the roof or something? I wouldn’t be shocked if they do start selling out that it’ll last a month tops.

Agree… I’m just saying that the key to winning in small markets isn’t overpaying for aging FA’s is all. Brewers started winning because they had a great group of players come up together, not because they signed Heath Bell-esque players to $9MM a year contracts. How many big money FA’s did Texas or St. Louis have last year?
December 6th, 2011 at 10:22 AM
Not so sure about this one. Site of the old OB?

David Samson says he’s expecting to average 30K plus a game… which is double what they would normally do… but I can’t see that place being full in July/August if they’re out of it.

December 6th, 2011 at 10:26 AM
Matt Holliday, Mike Young, and Beltre.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:27 AM
Fair point. Oh and St. Louis had Holliday who got a 7/119, Carpenter who had an AAV of around 14-16, and Pujols playing in his last year of his contract. It’s finding a mix of FAs, opportune trades and homegrown talent to really win the whole thing.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:28 AM
How many big money FA’s did Texas or St. Louis have last year?
Matt Holliday, Mike Young, and Beltre.
Young’s was a 5 year extension, not a FA. I don’t see very many good seasons in the future for Matt Holliday given what they owe him. But I’m biased.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:28 AM
Agreed, but it’s counting on a lot of things to go right. First, your draft picks have to work out, which isn’t easy to do. Look at the Red Sox, they’ve gone from tons of homegrown talent (Bucholz, Papelbon, Youk, Pedroia) to middling success (Lars Anderson, Manny Delcarmen).
Then, if you do get some success, you have to get him to sign a relatively “cheap” contract like Longoria, which not every player would consider (ie, Fielder).
Oh, and throughout all this you need to keep him healthy.
