Friday Night Lights QB Engaged to Lost Actress
That’d be Zach Gilford – to Friday Night Lights fans, QB1 or simpy, 7 – and Kiele Sanchez, who was briefly on LOST, which is only the greatest show in the history of network TV. (Yes, that’s a fact. Network TV, for the uninformed, does not include HBO.) If you have no recollection of Sanchez on LOST, it’s because she was only in 14 episodes as “Nikki,” her storyline was awful, and she was killed off quickly.
Gilford is 29. Sanchez is 35. I thought he was playing above the rim with his last girlfriend, but Sanchez is much more on his level. The two have been dating for a year. This is essentially a coupling of two people who have been part of two of the best shows in the last 20 years of network TV. If you’re unaware of the greatness that is Friday Night Lights … her’s a clip below. [People]

She’s pretty.

I am a LOST homer — I will say it is my favorite show of all time. I own a Richard Alpert bobblehead.
It’s not the best network show of all time.

He should have stuck with Julie Taylor…those cans at the swimming hole were nice
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:03 PM
The further we get from the finale, the less fondly I remember this show.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:04 PM
The West Wing would like a word.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:05 PM
I still miss the excitement that my wife and I had before each episode. The first two seasons are so fucking cool.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:05 PM
Well I hope they find her.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:06 PM
There was that. It just got too big for itself I think. It should have 4 seasons tops.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:06 PM
I still miss the excitement that my wife and I had before each episode. The first two seasons are so fucking cool.
In college I would leave the bar to go home and watch LOST then go back to the bar.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:07 PM
The West Wing would like a word.
What about Seinfeld?
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:08 PM
This is an Ndub move. That guy is on his 6th repeat of season 3.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:08 PM
Never seen an episode, but I doubt this is true. But since all TBL is doing is trolling for comments/hits, I’m going to pass. You all have a nice weekend.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:08 PM
The West Wing would like a word.
If we’re talking seasons 1-4, then yes. After Aaron Sorkin left, the show took a pretty big nosedive: dialogue that crossed over from witty and smart to clearly over the top, and plotlines that didn’t seem grounded in reality. And that was the attraction of the first few seasons: you could believe the plotlines that were taking place.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:09 PM
never seen either show.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:09 PM
Dukes of Hazzard was on network television. Case closed.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:09 PM
Fuck it…
FNL >>> Lost
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:09 PM
West Wing was a great show husker…I actually just watched the whole series a yr or so ago (some station was running the whole series from start to finish). The final season (the election one) kind of foreshadowed the Obama/McCain election when you think of it
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:10 PM
So do we call them “Gilchez” or “Sanford”, this celebrity couple stuff is confusing.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:10 PM
Kiele Sanchez

I avoided FNL for years but finally watched the first few years on Netflix and its actually pretty decent. Lost and its time travel and smoke monster nonsense can go get f’d.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:10 PM
That guy is on his 6th repeat of season 3.
To be fair season 3 is awesome and has one of the best television moments of the last 20 years.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:11 PM
He is still playing above the rim with Kiele. She has a fantastic body.

Wasn’t Billy Dee Williams in the Nikke & Paulo episode of Lost. That dude was the man.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:13 PM
I think it’s tough to compare comedies to dramas.
Yeah…that show ended with the conclusion of season 4 as far as I’m concerned. The first 4 seasons were fucking awesome.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:13 PM
LOST, um, lost its luster when the creators admitted they didn’t have a master plan for the show.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:13 PM
Well, then I pass.

I think Kiele Sanchez now plays a nurse on The Glades, which is a pretty good time-killer cop show in the vein of The Mentalist or Psych.

Alright 7!
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:14 PM
(Yes, that’s a fact. Network TV, for the uninformed, does not include HBO.
ER, NYPD Blue, Seinfeld, West Wing, Dallas, I Love Lucy, All in the Family, The Simpsons, Cheers, Law & Order, Twin Peaks (Season 1 only…..just a few shows that were all better than Lost.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:15 PM
Thank you. That’s where I recognize her from. This chick is hot.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:15 PM
Recommend it… good to watch on DVD anyway. Though every game ends on a spectacular play/comeback, and you have to learn to deal with it.
My wife HATES Lyla
I actually am not really that into any of them to be honest (if we are taking into account their characters). Pretty much all of them are what I hated about high school.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:16 PM
good time-killer cop
Time Cop was a sweet movie.

I’m one of the few who liked the Nikki and Paulo episode.
And I loved FNL. One of the top 5 network shows of the past decade.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:18 PM
You funny, man.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:18 PM
All of their characters were complete shits at certain points. But on looks alone I think Tyra is just drop dead gorgeous. Those volleyball scenes got played over a few times in the KEG house.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:18 PM
Peter Berg admitted as much which is why in he subsequent seasons he got further and further away from the football action.

That was the first drama I can remember getting into, and I was only 6 when it started. I had no idea what was going on half the time, but I was fucking enthralled.
Don’t watch Season 2 though. Just awful.

Best Van Daame Movies:
1. Bloodsport
2. Sudden Death (I have to, I was an extra)
3. Hard Target

Worst: Street Fighter

The 10 greatest network shows in the history of American television are as follows:
The X-Files
Kolchak: The Night Stalker
NewsRadio
Green Acres
Hill Street Blues
Police Squad!
The Simpsons (seasons 1-9 only)
Wings
That ’70s Show
The Bob Newhart Show
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to the Craig James thread. 4,000 is coming over the horizon …

Anyone remember Northern Exposure? I loved that show.

2. Sudden Death (I have to, I was an extra)
That movie is all sorts of amazing. Did Melon arena really have a retractable roof? How did they not notice Van Damme wasn’t their goalie?

I have never seen an episode of Friday Night Lights. There was one of the my flight back from DC on Monday. Looked pretty interesting. Coach’s wife is a MILF. My roommate owns all of the seasons on DVD. Planning on going through them this month.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:22 PM
I agree, but as I’ve said before, I really like Season 7 as well. I enjoyed the whole campaign thing, though I would have been curious to see what they would have done if Spencer/Leo hadn’t died.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:22 PM
I mean, how can you forget this.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:23 PM
NewsRadio
Before Phil Hartman died. The show jumped the shark after he was no longer on it. It wasn’t exactly the show’s fault that his wife went crazy and murdered him in his sleep, but nonetheless it wasn’t the same after that.
Stephen Root as Jimmy James remains one of my favorite characters ever though.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:23 PM

There is a FNL complete series DVD. I’m that shit now.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:23 PM
Leaving Double Impact off of this list is a crime. No Kickboxer? What about The Quest? And the fact that Timecop isn’t mentioned is just upsetting.

That movie is all sorts of amazing. Did Melon arena really have a retractable roof? How did they not notice Van Damme wasn’t their goalie?
It does, but it’s never opened — that is the last time I even remember it being opened. I’m sure some other yinzers could remember a more recent time. Oh yeah — the plot is obscene. The terrorist did not plan for overtime nor a Pittsburgh fireman who also ended up making the game saving stop? Great flick, so terrible.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:24 PM
I agree, but as I’ve said before, I really like Season 7 as well. I enjoyed the whole campaign thing, though I would have been curious to see what they would have done if Spencer/Leo hadn’t died.
I recall reading that they were originally going to have Alan Alda’s character win the election. But after John Spencer–awesome actor by the way–died suddenly, they felt that they couldn’t end the series on such a huge downer.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:25 PM

The wife from FNL is fucking hot in American Horror Story.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:27 PM
Since it’s a slow day at work, I was checking out Van Damme’s wiki. Check this out from “Expendables 2″
Jean-Claude Van Damme as Jean Vilain[1][7]
Main villain,[8][9] leader of an opposing team of mercenaries.[10] Van Damme had previously been offered a role in The Expendables but failed to come to an agreement with Stallone and ultimately never took part.[11] Commenting on the role, Stallone said “We’ll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one.”[7]
That name is fantastic, Stallone just doesnt care at this point.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:28 PM
Heard that too. In a way that would have made more sense. Still they did a decent job of it.

No desire whatsoever to watch Lost when it was on.
And with FNL….I feel like I got my fill of that concept with reading Buzz’s book and seeing the movie based on the book.
Never felt a series based on FNL was needed, but the fact that so many people seem to like that show, I feel compelled to check it out on DVD. But Lost? Not so much.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:33 PM
I actually know a girl named Tammy who looks and talks just like her in the show.
No. “Lost” being best ever is a fact.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:33 PM
MASH
I have mixed feelings about MASH. The show had it’s moments, but it is NOTHING compared to the movie. The pilot episode is a clumsy adaptation of the movie, but it works. They hit their stride halfway through season 1. But then McLean Stevenson and Wayne Rogers left and Alan Alda took over the show and tried to make it all moralistic. It was compelling still, but it strayed so far from the point of the movie that it was unrecognizable by the end of the series.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:33 PM
I feel like the only guys that watched Friends were guys whose wives/girlfriends made them watch that show.

Any producers that can make a show taking place during a 3 year war last 12 seasons has a lot of talent and creativity. But Col. Blake, Trapper John, Major Burns >>>> Col. Potter, B.J. Hunnicutt, Major Winchester.

It was great until the Bubble Man took up residence. And when Joel left, the wheels came off completely.
Stephen Root as Jimmy James remains one of my favorite characters ever
Also Puddy as Johnny Johnson. And NewsRadio had three completely hot chicks: Mara Tierney, Khandi Alexander and Vicki Lewis.
This show even made Joe Rogan entertaining.

Ahh, Kiele Sanchez. Don’t throw tomatoes, it’s just a personal choice. I think she is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. I’ve had a crush on her from the first time I saw her on Lost.

December 2nd, 2011 at 3:47 PM
Friends started out fantastic and then it turned into all the relationships with each other. Although, I guess it mirrored the journey of a real life male-female friendship. You have fun hanging out, then one is attracted to the other more than the other is, then it gets awkward, then you get through it, you may even go on some dates, have a baby or two, and then go back to being friends, then get married.

December 2nd, 2011 at 3:48 PM
Under Siege is fantastic if just for the fact it was set on an Iowa class Battleship. Those things are fucking engineering marvels.
They cost $100 million apiece in 1940s dollars. They were designed to last for about 25 years, but served off and on into the 1990s. They are some of the fastest battleships ever built. Yet, if the war had gone on, they would have been completely outclassed in size and speed by the Montana-class. But the Montanas never got off the drawing board.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:48 PM
That would have been great.

Hard to argue with Seagal’s Under Siege and Hard to Kill. But Bloodsport and Double Impact come close. DI is criminally underrated.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:50 PM
If we’re talking network dramas, West Wing has to go in front of Lost. Had the entire final season not been a tremendous letdown (outside of Ab Atereno and The Substitute) Lost might have a better argument. But when you waste half a season with off-island nonsense that ends in a “they were all dead” cop-out while ignoring half the compelling questions the show raised, you drop down a peg or two.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:50 PM
Friends started out fantastic and then it turned into all the relationships with each other.
Agreed… the first season was pretty good… went bad really quick when they started hooking up with each other. The last 5 seasons were utter crap though. Unwatchable now.

As does the laugh track on Cheers.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:54 PM
Gotta judge shows based on their own time. I can’t stand laugh track comedies anymore. Arrested Development, Always Sunny, The Office, Parks & Rec murdered laugh track comedy for me. But for 10 years Friends made me laugh. Sure, the guys on that show were emasculated, but they were pretty funny while doing so.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:54 PM
I watched a little MASH yesterday flipping channels. I had forgotten how annoying/prominent the laugh track was.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:55 PM
Laugh track on HIMYM is absolutely brings that show down a few notches.
December 2nd, 2011 at 3:59 PM
I think how you feel about Lost is directly related to what you really cared about on that show. If you watched mainly for the mythology, you came away disappointed. For me, that stuff never appealed to me. I just wanted to know those characters past and what will happen to them in the future. I also liked the setting of the show. Primarily shot outdoors on an island, something you don’t usually see on network drama. Those things are what I cared about most. And for me, they gave a very satisfying answer to the questions that I wanted answered.

Friends is most notable for introducing the first gay marriage on American prime-time TV (Chandler and Joey).
But to this day, the phrase “Ross and Rachel” still angries up my blood. That long-running inanity keeps it from being a top show on any list.

Friends
Great show until Monica and Chandler got together. Same goes for the Office when Jim and Pam hooked up. Both shows neededed to take a cue from Seinfeld and leave well enough alone
