Dwayne Bowe Gave New Meaning to Alligator Arms With This Pathetic Effort Against the Steelers
The Chiefs trailed the Steelers 13-9 in the final minute Sunday night, but Tyler Palko was driving Kansas City down the field for the game-winning score. On the decisive play, Palko dropped back to pass, saw his top receiver, Dwayne Bowe, raise one arm mid-route as if to say he wanted the ball. Palko threw it in the middle of five defenders, and the pass was picked off. But as you can see on the replay, perhaps the pass isn’t picked off if Bowe actually puts his arms up to make an attempt to catch the ball.
Clearly terrified of being leveled by a Pittsburgh defender – Polamalu was already out with an injury, but Ryan Clark was in the vicinity – Bowe kept both arms down to protect himself. He made no effort to catch the pass.
Who calls for the ball, then shrinks when the pass is in the air? You can understand why Palko was pissed.

in bowe’s defense, i don’t think that ball is even making it to him if he kept running a fade route instead of cutting in like that.

I’m still not tired of Collinsworth ripping into him. That was fun.

This part is important.

Everyone is making a big deal of this but I swear it looks like no matter what that ball was WAY over his head.

The other part of this that I enjoy is that Palko is pissed off and wants to do something about it, but the camera catches him doing nothing more than pouting to himself. It’s as is he realized that, though he wanted to get in Bowe’s face and yell at him, he is Tyler Palko and doesn’t have the standing to yell at the equipment manager, let alone the team’s best receiver.

Could he have touched the ball without the use of go-go gadget arms?

Honestly I’m impressed that the Chiefs are ever competitive without their best offensive player (Charles), defensive player (Hali), and starting QB and TE.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this play didn’t happen on 4th down. So even if he just tips it and prevents an interception, they still get another shot with the ball. There was still time left on the clock when the pick was made.

Do you mean Berry?

sorry to interrupt, but Urban Meyer’s press conference will make me a big michigan fan (except for the ND game).
he comes off as such a smug douche

I loved how throughout the entire broadcast you could hear Collinsworth moan and groan in the background at some of Palko’s passes, it was great.

I blame Bruce Arians

his tantrum over his SI cover a couple years ago didn’t clue you in to this?

Well, add ATL-Badger to the list of black commenters.

Yes I believe this was the case. Or at least Collinsworth thought it was, because he mentioned the same thing.

Bowe was probably surprised the ball was even near him. Palko is such a whiny bitch for being a back-up.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:43 PM
Not as fun as that smug prick Costas gettin on his high horse about TD celebrations at halftime. My god I wanted to punch that smug look off his face.
November 28th, 2011 at 5:43 PM
Okay, okay, one last comment: Satan himself could coach any OSU or ND rival and I would still never root for either of them to win a single game.

The end of the video is great. The Steeler linemen goes up to him to say “good game” or whatever NFL players say to each other at the end and he’s still too busy having his hissy fit to pay attention.

Considering how many athletes and borderline celebrities you’ve dealt with over the years, your reaction is very surprising.

Fantastic.

Palko is way too demonstrative and whiny for a noodle armed backup QB

Take it easy on Palko. He probably knew this was his last chance to win an NFL game. Think about what that means for someone who was at least a good enough prospect to play and start at Pitt. I’m sure Palko’s under no illusions that he’s the next Joe Montana waiting to happen, but he probably figured he was good enough to catch on as a backup, maybe even start for a while if given the chance. We all dream of playing in the NFL, but since he was in high school this kid believed he had a real shot at it, he doesn’t get drafted but busts his hump to make squads, catches on with the Chiefs, gets his chance, and it goes up in smoke because Dwayne “I don’t really give a shit about anything but my paycheck” Bowe can’t be bothered put a hand up on a pass he called for.
I’d be pissed too.

You clearly have things in perspective … nice

Playing QB for pitt nowadays is nothing special

I’m not sure what’s worse, motioning for the ball with the universal “go route” signal and then switching to a post once he throws it, or the half-assed “I’m-gonna-make-it-look-like-I’m-trying” leap. He may not have been able to reach the ball, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to have a chance when he’s hugging himself. When Collinsworth calls something lame, you just did something lame (IMHO).
